My rig is similar to yours but with lower tier cpu and gpu and I have a 27 inch 1440 monitor. I really enjoy using it for web use and splitting the screen when I work on papers. I also play rainbow six quite frequently. For me it is very usable but not outstanding. My fps is usually around 40 with my graphics turned down. So it's really up to what you for want to use the monitor. My plan is to use the 1440 as a secondary screen and have a 1080p monitor for games but just haven't made the jump yet.
