  1. In light of the Facebook, and other companies, privacy issues I went searching to see if there was a company that took privacy first, and I found one. It’s called Purism, they make a 13 inch and 15 inch laptops, and have announced a 2 in 1 as well. They all run their own “PureOS” distro of Linux. They also have a phone they crowdsourced that is in development which also runs PureOS. Anyone have one of these machines? I think it would be great to have Linus review one for the privacy conscious folks out there.
  2. I recently purchased a Lenovo Y900 RE-34ISZ. I know it has a 6700K, 16BG of Ram, a 265GB M.2 SSD (mz-vlv2560), and a 2TB hard drive. Beyond that, I don't know much about it. I needed to wipe the PC completely so I used the diskpart commands in command prompt to wipe all the drives. But when I went to reinstall windows it only showed the Hard Drive. I was able to get windows booting off the hard drive, but now neither the BIOS or windows will recognize the M.2 drive at all. I called Lenovo tech support, obviously, they didn't know. I have reflashed the BIOS. I have installed and downloaded every update possible and ran any system check I can. The computer just doesn't see the drive and I cant use it at all. If anyone has advice or can help that would be appreciated.
  3. Thank you for the helpful comments. So I should go with A 1080ti over SLI. In that case how would I go about selling my 1080? Just on ebay or is there a buyback site like Gazelle?
  4. Hi, I currently have a GTX 1080 founders edition in my gaming PC. In order to do SLI I know I need the same card, but does it have the be a founders edition or will it work with just a normal 1080?
  5. I don't need USBC since MS already said they would have a surface connector to USBC adapter, and I don't quad core in my laptop. So I think Ill probably end up keeping the one I have now.
  6. Ciminology with a IT minor. Nothing I do takes advantage of its power, and honestly I could get by without the dGPU in it since I have a Gaming rig at home. I just don't want to miss out on some big great new feature.
  7. I am currently in college and I have just bought a surface book. Its a great device for my use case and I really love it. However Intel just released a video with a black surface book render in it. Should I wait to see if there will be a surface book 2? Or should I keep the one I have now?
  8. I think I will do that. Are there any next gen headsets coming out soon? I don’t want to spend that much and have a new one come out 6 months down the road.
  9. The specs of my rig is a 4ghz 6700k, 16gb ram, and a gtx1080 founders edition with 8gb of vram. My fear is that the rift won’t be able to play the same SteamVR titles that the Vive can. I’ve seen quite a few games that only support the Vive, including Fallout VR. And thank you for explaining the space to me, seeing that the Vive comes with lighthouses I wasn’t sure how much room I needed.
  10. I just bought a surface book and I love it. I’ve been in college for a few years now and I can say that for me the book has the keyboard and “laptop-ness” of the surface laptop, and the note taking ability of the pro. It is expensive, but very much worth it. Also at Best Buy right now you can get some good student discounts.
  11. Hi, I’m pretty new on the forum so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area, but I didn’t see a specific VR section and this seemed like the closest thing. I just got a new rig and I want to play in VR. I have money for the Vive, but is is expensive and I wanted to know if it is worth it, and if I need a lot of room for it? Right now I’m in a one bedroom apartment with my fiancé, but we are moving to a two bedroom in October. Should I wait to buy the Vive till I have a spare room so that I have enough space, or is space not a factor?
