  1. I'll check it out, yeah. You got any ideas for phones on the lower end of my budget as well?
  2. Hey guys, so today my Xperia E3 finally shit itself (browsing reddit, 34% battery, freezes and when i go to turn it off and on again it doesn't turn on again and the charging status light stays dark when plugged in). I live in Australia, and my nearby tech stores are JB-Hifi, Officeworks, the good guys, bing lee, etc. I need a phone in the next few days, but since I've never actually shopped for a phone before (xperia was a gift) I was wondering what insight you guys could give me. Specs, budget, requirements are: - Android - Preferably not samsung - Budget of 250 - 400 AUD - Needs a capable camera (nothing crazy like the pixel), but good enough because I actually couldnt take photos with my xperia it was that bad. - At least 4GB of internal storage - micro SD card slot - somewhat robust - And most important, available at a bricks and mortar store in australia (or kogan, since I know their shipping time is reasonable). Any advice is appreciated!
  3. Finally built my first PC a few days ago, can't wait to post some pics to the build logs section.

  4. yes, the fan has two connectors. One is a 4 pin for the RGB. It plugs into your motherboard's RGB header. It will work. The other is a 3 pin for the power that makes the fan spin. That one plugs into a 4 pin chassis fan power header on your motherboard. It doesn't matter they are different amounts of pins, it will work.
  5. Ohhh, power connector. You were talking about rgb in your first post. Ok, so a 3 pin can plug into a 4 pin fine. You just don't get the really fine voltage control. I have an H500P with 2 MF200Rs preinstalled, and the work fine plugged into my 4 pin chassis fan connectors on my motherboard. TL;DR you'll be fine.
  6. Now really isn't a great time to be building... GPU prices aren't expected to improve until much later this year. If you get a 2400G now, AMD will lend you a free CPU to upgrade your bios so it works, and then just use the APU until september-ish when things might start to get better, and Ampere is available. Also, if you get a 2400G no aftermarket cpu cooler is required. The 850-EVO isn't really competitive anymore, the MX500 from crucial is a lot cheaper and faster. Unless you work a lot of video files, etc you shouldn't need a 2TB drive. 1TB will be fine for a gaming computer. You could go for a bit higher quality case if you forgo a gpu for now. Faster memory would help.
  7. I have an H500P and the power connector for my 200mm fans are 3 pin. Perhaps the retail and the one included in the H500P differ. EDIT: nvm my bad you're talking about RGB. Though I don't know how the RGB connector could be 3 pin, they're always 4 pin.
  8. Just gonna drop this here: https://www.gamersnexus.net/industry/3211-what-do-manufacturers-think-of-mining-and-gpu-prices
  9. Have a poke around craigslist, ebay, whatever. There could be good deals on mobos from that generation. It'll be hard to find an unused LGA1150 motherboard.
  10. I'll give it a shot, thanks guys.
  11. Ok, so I had no idea where to put this so I just chucked it here to be safe. Basically I was trying to change my username to remove the B, and just be Jaeger. However someone already has this name: https://linustechtips.com/main/profile/150916-jaeger/ They haven't posted since 2014, and they have 1 post. Is there any way to have their name changed to free up the one I'd like? This isn't a big deal, I was just curious if it can be done.
  12. Could you provide some statistics to back that up?
  13. It gets worse: http://www.game-debate.com/news/24618/nvidia-gpu-prices-will-continue-to-rise-until-q3-2018-nearly-every-gpu-sold-for-mining
  14. https://wccftech.com/amd-nvidia-intel-q4-2017-gpu-market-share/ AMD GPU Shipments Increased Big Time in Q4 2017, NVIDIA and Intel Decline – Over 3 Million Graphics Card Sold To Crypto Miners in 2017 The latest GPU market report from Jon Peddie research has been released and shows that AMD gained a good chunk of the GPU market share during fourth quarter of 2017. At the same time, both NVIDIA and Intel witnessed decline in GPU market share. When breaking down the numbers, it looks like AMD won this quarter big time with a market share increase of 8.1%. At the same time, NVIDIA decreased -6% while Intel decreased -2%. The current market share looks like the following: AMD @ 14.2% (versus 13.0% Last Quarter) NVIDIA @ 18.4% (versus 19.3% Last Quarter) Intel @ 67.4% (versus 67.8% Last Quarter) AMD was the main benefactor of the total mining hardware sales of $776 million as reported in the article. When comparing the graphics chip market segments, almost the entire industry saw a downward trend in Q4 2017 which include Discrete Graphics for desktop, Notebook integrated and embedded for mobility systems. The discrete notebook market and desktop integrated and embedded platforms saw a increase in growth rate of 3.6% and 3.0% respectively. Also one reason why Intel’s share isn’t affected as big as AMD or NVIDIA is that they sell their GPUs as iGPUs which is integrated within their mainstream desktop and notebook processors. This make iGPUs unaffected by the crypto mining craze and the Intel GPU sales remain normal. Quick highlights - AMD’s overall unit shipments increased 8.08% quarter-to-quarter, Intel’s total shipments decreased -1.98% from last quarter, and Nvidia’s decreased -6.00%. - The attach rate of GPUs (includes integrated and discrete GPUs) to PCs for the quarter was 134% which was down -10.06% from last quarter. - Discrete GPUs were in 36.88% of PCs, which is down -2.67%. - The overall PC market increased 5.93% quarter-to-quarter, and decreased -0.15% year-to-year. - Desktop graphics add-in boards (AIBs) that use discrete GPUs decreased -4.62% from last quarter. - Q4’17 saw no change in tablet shipments from last quarter “Gaming has been and will continue to be the primary driver for GPU sales, augmented by the demand from cryptocurrency miners.,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, President of Jon Peddie research. We expect demand to slacken from the miners as margins drop in response increasingly utilities costs and supply and demand forces that drive up AIB prices. Gamers can offset those costs by mining when not gaming, but prices will not drop in the near future.” via Jon Peddie Research Jon Peddie also reports that prices of add-in-boards are not expected to drop in the near future which is something that NVIDIA has already acknowledged. The current situation is that mining enthusiasts are eating up entire supplies of discrete graphics cards and the production just can’t keep up with the huge demand. These figures might have been even higher if there were zero constraints with GPU production but right now, crypto mining has exceeded the gaming market in terms of GPU revenue. 15. I managed to get a better photo of it this time. Kinda weird, cos it definitely isn't the colour of rust, but whatever it is it doesn't scratch off or anything. I just want to be absolutely sure, becase the store is a long bus ride away from where I live, and their opening hours are constricting, to say the least.
  16. Ok, I'll give it a shot. MSY don't have a great reputation when it comes to returns though. I'll try return it this week.
  17. Oh thanks, I had no idea. Guess I learn something new every day! Ok, so I'll give that a shot. If that's the case, I mightn't actually need a splitter for the 3 pins, since I can plug the fan hub into one of the three chassis fan headers and the two 3 pin fans into the other two chassis fan headers.
  18. Thanks, I'll use the fan controller for the masterfans. I haven't been able to find a 4pin to 3 pin adapter on ebay or any australian online stores. Any suggestions?
  19. So I bought my new H500P today, and I have three Masterfan pro 120 RGB air balance fans to put in it for exhaust. The stock fans it comes with are the two 200mm RGB fans and a shitty stock 140mm. My motherboard is the X370-F, and it has 3 4 pin chassis fan connectors. These are fine for the masterfan 120s, but I don't know how I'm going to connect my two 200mm fans with 3 pin connectors. Do I need some form of adaptor? I would appreciate it if someone could let me know what kinds of adapters I need. To recap, 5 fans (three take 4 pin power, 2 take 3 pin power) and three 4 pin Chassis fan connectors. Cheers, Jaeger EDIT: What about a fan hub?
  20. I've gone over the rest of the board and I couldn't see anything. These "rust" spots are less than a millimetre squared and there's only 2 or three. I get the feeling it's just an aesthetic thing. Anyway my warranty covers it so I reckon I'll see how I go.
  21. Hey, so I just picked up my X370-F motherboard from the store and on the little Supreme FX square I've spotted a bit of what looks like rust or corrosion. Is this purely an aesthetic issue or could it be a sign of something worse?
  22. I won't be doing that, I think the reason it got shit on by some reviewers is just that it was advertised as a HAF case and turned out to be more average. Other than that, thanks for the advice. Since I'm picking up my parts in-store I'll ask them there as well and since the splitters are $3 each it couldn't hurt.
