I got assigned to project 14310 which I believe is unrelated, 5 day work estimate. Possible to change or not?

It's a dorm, the ISP is the school.

Usually less than 1mbps down, I'm not at the dorm right now but this is based off of testing last week. The wifi seemed to get about 2mbps down and a low ping, but the connection drops and barely reaches my bedroom.

Just to be clear, if I added this to my dorm would it dramatically increase ping? or would games still be playable

Everything checks out, the building is only 3 years old and I updated my ethernet drivers just a few days ago. The router and straight wire both give about the same results on multiple ports.

I'm trying to game on my desktop, as I said the ethernet provides worse speeds then the wifi. The wifi gets around a 30-50 ping but drops a lot and gets really bogged down during off-class hours. I have tried plugging the ethernet directly into my desktop and the speeds were as listed above 700-900 ping with a very low download speed. Do you have somewhere to get more info on the different channel thing?

So basically I moved into a new dorm this week and I noticed that there is a decent wifi connection in the living room area but the bedrooms 7 feet away have a terrible connection. I hooked up a router to try and use the wired connection but that is somehow incredibly worse. (700-800 ping, 1mbps down) The connection still drops sometimes in the living room, so I need to know if a cheap wifi range extender is the solution or will that even work.

He doesn't know much about his friends monitor other than "it's a touchscreen" so I would think it would be 1080p as well. I'll inquire more about this later.

The 7850 was about $200 at the time while the 7870 was about $50 more

Brother playing at 900p, I wouldn't be surprised if his friend is playing lower then that though as his pc is just a Best buy dell.

That's what I was thinking, but apparently they are both playing at the same settings. I'm going to mess around with the PC today and see if I can't get it faster.

Hello all, I recently built my brother a PC for christmas, and for his graphics card I installed my old 7850. His friend got a pc with a GT 635 and is somehow getting better fps results? The cpu paired with the 7850 is an Amd Athlon x4 740, I figured it wouldn't bottleneck the gpu but that may be the case. If that is the case, what cpu/apu would you guys recommend upgrading to on FM2?
