  1. Budget (including currency): USD - I'm willing to spend a bit more than a bog standard monitor, but I'm probably going to balk at anything north of $700, probably? At least, I'd like to shoot for something good sub-$700 if at all possible. Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: OSRS, Insurgency Sandstorm, DAH!2, Fallout 76, Grand Strategy Games like EU4, CK3, HOI4... Excel, Work-from-Home, Discord, Email Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a Ryzen 9 3950X and a Radeon RX 6800 XT - so I don't want to go too grandiose to the point where my poor CPU/GPU combo struggles to keep up. My current setup is dual LG 1440p monitors at 75Hz. I wouldn't mind a 1440p ultrawide at a higher refresh rate, but I'm really not sure about the ergonomics of the switch, the cost involved, etc. etc. Additionally, space is a slight factor as well, so if I can find a comfortably-sized, comfortably-costed ultrawide, that'd be pretty awesome. As a side note - I did once have a Samsung 4K display, but I ran into a lot of issues with scaling and the like. I'm not sure if the 4K experience is any better a few years later, but. I'm always open for possibilities.
  2. If they hope to remain competitive in the face of the next-gen NVIDIA GPU series and Intel's entry into the market come 2020, then they definitely need to ditch the GCN architecture. It's what caused me to switch back to Team Green a couple years ago. My brand new in-box R9 390 was not the performance value I expected it to be, and so I bought a 1070 and sold the 390 to some bloke in Venezuela. C'est la vie.
