  1. I'm contemplating whether to order a new ssd and an ssd enclosure so I can install windows on the new one and copy over things like my steam library from the old one... What's the consensus on a good 2Tb or higher nvme ssd these days?
  2. I tried enabling csm... I could then designate the ssd as a boot drive however it still failed to boot. I put in the usb and attempted all the troubleshooting options I'd done previously but they all failed. I've set csm back to disabled.
  3. At the top it says uefi bios. Csm says it's disabled. I've done nothing to the ssd. But I can access it and browse the files through cmd prompt so it isn't dead...
  4. I'm not sure what you're asking me... maybe these images will help?
  5. I'm booting from a usb. Without the usb it never gets to windows... just goes directly to the bios which does not see a bootable drive. From the usb I've tried troubleshoot startup repair... which encounters an error and says it has saved a log file but no such file exists in the location it specifies. I've tried system restore to roll back to a previous update... that fails with the 0x80071a91 error. I've tried Uninstall updates, both Uninstall quality and feature options, both fail. When uninstall feature fails it tells me to troubleshoot > reset this PC which is not an option that exists on the troubleshoot menu.
  6. Ha ha... got chkdsk C: to run... evidently there is a C: for it to scan. It found no errors with the file system... then why isn't the system bootable? What now?
  7. I don't know what's happening, whether it's my phone or the forum but something is causing my cursor to jump all over if I type too much or maybe something with the enter key as each time I try to use it the new line gets deleted... this is making posting here difficult. Anyway I'm currently using the recovery usb and poking around in cmd prompt trying to see if there's anything on C:... but not having any success as I'm not proficient in such things.
  8. Woke up this morning to find my computer monitor displaying the bios. Restarting brings me to bios. Checking boot devices in bios... no bootable devices found. My m.2 drive is detected... and that's supposed to be the boot drive. I put the computer to sleep last night as I normally do. There was a pending windows update which I ignored intending to get to it today . I suspect the update happened while I slept and did whatever it did to break C:... Things I've tried: I took out and put the m.2 drive back in. no luck I've found my usb recovery drive and attempted to usesystem restore n oluck error 0x80071a91
  9. Has anyone noticed this new behavior over the past couple weeks? Here's what happens. I add videos to the "Watch later" list. Then I watch the list. When it reaches the end of the list... instead of ending... it autoplays a video from the creator of the last video that was on the list. Today the last video on the list was an LTT video "Every Fast Charging Standard Explained" and then it Autoplayed the WAN show. It does seem to stop after playing the one additional video and doesn't continue autoplaying forever. But this is happening each time I reach the end of my watch later list.
  10. great. taking a closer look at the Asus x570e back plate shows a flashback button too but the one you linked is cheaper so wonderful.
  11. I'm planing on building a new system... As soon as I get my hands on a 3080... but heck I may be waiting for a 4080 before I can actually get one... But anyway as of this moment the R9 5900x seems to be the best CPU (that isn't in the 1k+ price range) So I go on PC parts picker to find compatible MBs... For all the X570 MBs PC parts picker says they could require a bios update and that I may need a compatible CPU to do that. I do not have a compatible CPU. Are there any MBs shipping with the updated bios already installed? How do I determine that? Is it written on the box? That might help if physical PC component stores still existed and we weren't all trapped inside at this time... But Fry's is gone and the Pandemic is still on going so online ordering it must be... I've not found Bios version listed among the specs on Amazon or Newegg. So how does one ensure that when they order an R9 5900x and a X570 MB that they aren't stuck with 2 expensive paper weights? Is there a new chipset and thus bios coming out for the current CPUs that I need to wait for? Right now I'm considering the Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 and looked at Asus's FAQ about CPU compatibility and it says if you don't have a compatible CPU to do the bios update with then you need a MB that has "usb flashback" to do a bios update without a CPU. I can't find that feature listed among the specs of any MB's either. So what do I do? Forget AMD and build an Intel system instead? I normally build intel systems but have built AMD systems. I don't care which one I build so long as its got competitive performance and is likely to remain so for a while. I mean I'm currently running an i7-3930k in my gaming system and am only now looking at CPUs to upgrade/build a new system around so I want something that's going to last for a long time.
  12. Does anyone know what the Current lowest latitude Starlink is available? I've seen that people in Northern Washington have gotten to try it out.
  13. yeah... there's at least one app I'd have to side load if I went with the Fire HD... If it weren't such a hassle it might work. But things like Kindle books and Comixology should work properly at least. It deserves further consideration.
