  1. @PCNoobie Could you explain the Tuf board, and hwy micro in a mid tower?
  2. @Blind X Is the Tomahawk all I need? What would an upgrade look like if I wanted thunderbolt for example?
  3. Thats a really sketchy looking ram. Also, you think a 2060 is good enough for my application?
  4. Thanks for the thought. I would at least want a semi, however I would probably stretch for a EVGA or Sea sonic modular one.
  5. I am planning a build right now and instead of giving you guys the build I have and want to see what ya'll come up with. My budget is $2000US however Id like to keep it closer to 1500. I would like to be able to play some high end games such as X-Plane 11 and beat saber on HTC Vive. It will also have to do some light inventor work. The primary use of it will be for editing editing photos using lightroom and Photoshop. This being it will have to have lots of storage as I dont have a NAS. I would also like it to be bale to edit some 4k footage from a gopro. The only accessories I need would be a monitor. This I hope is IPS for photos and decent response time for games. Im not that concerned over refresh rate. The case also needs to have great airflow as I dont want it to have water cooling. I personally like the Phanteks Pro M
  6. My only problem with the 9600k is how expensive it is. It would be almost half the cost of the pc.
  7. I want to build a Minecraft server for my friends and I. There would be at most 12 people on at a time, and we want to use some moderately big mods. What are some specs I could get by with cause I want this to be a cheap as possible? This is what I currently have- https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Sailboy42/saved/JcCFGX
  8. I finally found a solution, however, it evolves messing with system 32. If you pull up the command prompt and enter "netsh winsock reset catalog". Then restart your computer and restart Minecraft it may work. At least for me, it did.
  9. I just started having this issue today, whenever I try to login into Minecraft the launcher says it is not connected. Everything else works fine, wired and wireless. I have even given it a bypass through my firewall, rebooted, and reinstalled.
  10. With my current laptop, I can run most games on a low setting with 25fps. It's not great, but it works. I have started getting into photo editing and would like something that could handle that better. And secondly I would really like get a VR capable rig, I have seen the games and I really want to get into the scene. I want to avoid getting a desktop because I don't really have a use for one, I'm also moving around with my laptop so I don't want something to be tied down. I think an E-GPU will work with this because I just unplugged it and go when I don't need the extra processing. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad, 32g of ram, a 540mx, and an Intel i7-8600u, with a Thunderbolt 3 port. I was looking at the Auros 2070 gamer box at the time.

  12. What intel motherboards would you recommend for that CPU?
  13. Do you have any recommendations for MOBOS?
  14. Would I benefit from upgrading to a Noctua cooler or is the Evo satisfactory?
  15. Is there any noticeable thermal difference between the two brands with the delided Amd cpu?
  16. The 32gbs I believed is good for multitasking with multiple items open such as Photoshop, Lightroom, with music in the background. I also usually leave lots of chrome tabs open. What in the case makes you say that it doesn't have great airflow. With such an open front I believed it should be fine. Compared to cases like corsair obsidian where there are just small vents that, I believed this was on the better end.
  17. I was wondering about that, what is the estimated date for gen 3 release?
  18. Could you explain why the switch to the tomahawk?
  19. Why do you intel? I was preferring Amd due to pricing and the delided processor running cooler. When you say start off with 16gb of ram I assume you mean running that in dual channel, correct?
  20. Yes, I was planning to run them in raid. I'm surprised though that they wouldn't be that fast though for such good and expensive drives. I think I will transfer over to the firecudas. I have heard good things about them and coming from someone that uses convinces me.
  21. I am planning on building my first build after a few years of watching Linus and the pc crowd. I have done a lot of research and would like to hear all ya'lls opinion on my choices. My goal was to build that was VR ready, and capable of light to medium photo/video editing and airflow is a heavy priority. If there's anywhere you believe I can save money or suggest an upgrade all comments would be appreciated! Also, I can't find a good case with front USB-c support. Here is my current build... 22. I was wondering whether the new Ryzen APU is better than the old Nvidia 940mx. I know the APU is much newer, and that it as good price, and space effective solution, but is it not as strong as a dedicated graphics card. My laptop has the 940mx and it has a Thunderbolt 3 port and I want to save money and just buy a sperate graphics card housing. Then again when are those reasonably priced! I prefer not to build a pc at the moment and want something to run more graphics extensive games. And the APU at the moment seems like the best option for me if I have build one. Thanks.
