  1. I tested it in a friends system and it made his system behave the same way mine did. So I believe that either the gpu died randomly, or using it with a motherboard and cpu that are not compatible fried it. But this leads to another question.... since im pretty sure my GPU is fried, shouuld I try the oven bake method for the hell of it? I knew it was a thing back in the day.
  2. 1. Yes, I did try to start it without the PCIe cables in after I tried starting it with them in. 2. My MoBo only has 1 PCIe slot because it is a mini - ITX
  3. Yep, which is why it took me extra long to find out they were incompatible. I think its kinda funny, but not if it fried my system.
  4. I appreciate all your help in advance. Spec list: EVGA 650gm sfx PSU GIGABYTE B550I AORUS PRO AX mobo EVGA GTX 980TI SC RYZEN 5 3600 2x16 G.SKILL aegis So, I first put together my PC with a ryzen 5 1600 inside (I had thought I bought a b450, very dumb mistake IK) and it posted just fine. I installed windows and some games, but about 5 mins after launching my first game, the pc crashed. Then, it would not turn on unless the 8+6 pin GPU was unplugged. (no display, just system on). At some point in trying to get my system to work, it stopped turning on all together. Because I'm a dumbass, I thought it was the PSU, so I exchanged it for a different one. When I had the same issue, I finally realized I had an incompatible CPU in my MOBO. So I then order a ryzen 5 3600 to put in my pc, and its back to the original issue: My PC only turns on when: 1, only the 6 pin power connecter is plugged in to the GPU 2, no PSU cables are plugged in And when it does turn on, the display reads: PLEASE POWER DOWN AND CONNECT THE PCIe POWER CABLE(S) FOR THIS GRAPHICS CARD When everything is plugged in properly, the system will not power on at all, but I do hear some power move through the system during these failed boots. At this point I think its either a Dead gpu or I f****d my mobo by running a 1600 in it. Please help
  5. Update: I bought a founders edition 1080 today as it was only $5 more than the cheapest 1080 I could find. I also heave my heart set on this case: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=141152&usaffiliateid=1000031504 I really like this motherboard and its price, plus it supports 3200 ram: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813144025 so ram to go with that mb has to be: http://www.outletpc.com/wu0711-corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2-x-8gb-288pin-ddr4-sd.html?utm_source=wu0711-corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2-x-8gb-288pin-ddr4-sd&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Corsair%2B-%2BMemory (RAM) > Desktop - DDR4 Memory BECAUSE its white, cheap, and 3200. This is near to my final part list, so any criticisms would be helpful before I finish purchasing everything
  6. I've tweaked your part list a little to my liking. I believe this is my complete build unless you find problems with it. Put windows in because I do not trust kinguin, sorry. Also, bought an extra fan for the back of the case, as the case comes with two white LED fans for the front. Lastly, I will buy the water cooler down the line.
  7. I have another question. Would it be worth spending 40$ more for a 7700k?
  8. I really like this build! and is the only difference between 1700 and 1700x the overclocking capabilities? lastly, I may just change a few things that don't necessarily need to be white in order to stay in budget. I will gladly look at any other builds that people put together here!
  9. 1. Budget & Location $1,250-$1,350 USD 2. Aim Streaming and playing games such as WItcher 3, Overwatch, GTA 5 and PUBG all at max settings. This will also be the machine where I will do homework and browse sites like Reddit (have 15 tabs open). 3. Monitors I plan on running dual monitors at 1080p. 4. Peripherals All I will need is Windows 10 64bit. Other peripherals I own or will own down the line. 5. Why are you upgrading? I always wanted to make my own PC. I have an Asus Laptop right now and I'm tired of playing games on low settings, as well as streaming and having another monitor next to my laptop screen can be annoying. NOTES: I do not want to upgrade my GPU anytime soon, So I really prefer a GTX 1080. Fitting a 1080 in this budget, Id assume that the CPU would have to be something like a Ryzen 1700x? I prefer to have a water cooler like a h100i. I also prefer to have a white color scheme, as black and red is overused IMO. RGB components are nice to have, but definitely not necessary. Sorry for being picky, and I appreciate all the help in advance! thanks
