  1. Doing a quick update! A few days ago, I got my Ryzen 5 5600, which is a huge upgrade; performance is amazing (Thanks AM4 Socket) For cooling, I got the Noctua NH-U12A to cool the CPU and it does a great job!! Impressive numbers. I've added a Samsung 2TB SSD because I was running a little low on storage Replaced my front fans with Noctua fans because...uhhhh... That's it for now!
  2. Thank you for the suggestion! I did what you said and got a fan splitter. I'm going to set it up now. They will all be connected to the Chassis Fan Header. Should I connect the low noise adapter to the 1700rpm fan? I feel that it might be strange having 1700 rpm and 1200 rpm fans connected to the same splitter. Hopefully it works well!
  3. My motherboard is the Asus A320M-K. That's a good solution. Thanks! I'll go for this setup. I'm also curious if the 'low noise adapters' would work on the front fans that are connected to the PSU? I have two that I could use to prevent them from running at max.
  4. Hi. Most of my fans are pretty silent (Noctua) except for my front case fans. I have a spare 1700 rpm Noctua CPU cooler fan and I've ordered a Noctua NF-P12 redux-1300 PWM. I currently have a 1200 rpm Noctua fan for the exhaust. I'll be having 2 of these fans at the front and one as the exhaust. The exhaust fan is connected to the motherboard while the front fans take power from the PSU. How should I arrange these 3 fans for the best cooling/noise?
  5. This could be because their framerate is capped or resolution is lower. @Carnage1Is this the case?
  6. I don't think you have a bottleneck issue. 60% CPU usage doesn't sound too high and 60% GPU usage doesn't sound to low. It depends on the game. What GPU and CPU do you have and what games have you seen this on? (If you don't mind me asking) Edit: Never mind, you should be getting high Usage on these heavy games assuming your framerate is not capped. Sorry about that. Is your framerate capped?
  7. Thank you! That's an interesting combination. Your CPU is pretty solid and could game pretty well on its own too! It's also pretty capable allowing you to upgrade to many GPUs without large bottlenecks. Nice build!
  8. This isn't a full build log but mainly just an progress log for myself A few days ago, I got my RX 6600 XT MSI Gaming X (at MSRP!), which is a solid upgrade over my GTX 1060 6GB, that's been doing well for a few years now. Ordered the Fractal Design Ion+ 560p PSU as an upgrade over the 450W Corsair PSU I previously had. Need to have a nice PSU for the GPU! I've been using my Ryzen 5 1500X for some good time now and won't be making any big upgrades to the CPU yet. My friend kindly gave me his no longer used Ryzen 3 3100, which I will upgrade to for now after updating my BIOS (around 10%-20% performance increase I think). I'm also getting an Arctic Freezer A13 X for a quieter experience in comparison to the stock cooler. In the past months, I have added a 1TB NVME M.2 SSD to the existing 256GB SSD and 1TB Hard Drive! An upgrade to 3600mhz 16GB RAM over my previous 2XXXmhz 8GB RAM was also made (even though I cannot use the full speed yet) I also replaced two of the louder front fans with quieter Arctic fans and it's been good! Around 2 years ago, I replaced the back fan with a Noctua Fan for improved airflow. In the future, I will probably upgrade my motherboard to a mATX B550 and get a Ryzen 5 5600X. Getting ready for Battlefield 2042 and playing more games with increased amazingness. (Current laptop is a Dell 2 in 1 with Ryzen 5 5500U like the XPS)
  9. Update: I actually managed to get a MSI RX 6600 XT Gaming X and it arrived today I was pretty happy so I decided to do an update (but let me know if I shouldn't do that to older threads like this) I don't have my PSU yet so I must patiently wait. I'm getting the Fractal Design Ion+ (either 560w or 660w), which is also nicely on the Tier List!
  10. Got it. I shall keep this in mind for whenever I purchase something like this. That is pretty useful! Thanks I also found out that the PSU (Corsair VS 450) I've been using my GTX 1060 6GB and Ryzen 5 1500X for years with is in Tier D ahah Good to know! I think I shall go with the Corsair TX 650M or Corsair TX 750M in the end Thanks for the help everyone!
  11. There is also this one (attached image), which looks decent.
  12. Hi. I was looking for a PSU for when I (hopefully soon ) get a RX 6600 XT. Would the Corsair TX 650M work well with the RX 6600 XT? (4.7/5 Stars Amazon Reviews) Are there other recommended PSUs that I should look at? Not trying to spend too much. Thanks!
  13. You can check to see if you game runs at the framerates that your it should be running at with your GPU. If it is...then it should be good (Task manager may just be showing 0% when it is not) You could also use software like MSI Afterburner to see if there is an increase in GPU Usage once you play Battlefield V. GPU Usage should increase a lot when going from nothing to gaming.
  14. It appears my dad does not approve me spending my own money on such an expensive laptop In this case...I'll probably upgrade my current PC with good deal parts here and there (like a B550M Motherboard I found on the Prime Day Deals) and CPU/GPU in the coming months. I would then go with a more budget laptop for University when the time comes.
  15. Thank you!! I was not aware of this and learned more about how laptops handle their dedicated and integrated graphics. I’ll go for the Legion.
  16. I also looked at the Asus ROG STRIX G15 and it looks good too! I'll probably go with either the Asus ROG STRIX G15 or Lenovo Legion 5 (depends on stock and prices when I come to buy it in around 1-2 months) Thanks for the suggestion!
  17. I'm in the UK aswell and it's kind of impossible to get a Desktop GPU right now for a good price ( ◡́.◡̀) Indeed it is! Going the route of the laptop appears to be the best value route right now. Unfortunately the Desktop route has been blocked In the UK
  18. Yes that sounds good! As you said, I should be able to find an outlet within 7 hours At first I was thinking about going for the 1440p but you made good points and I think I will go with the 1080p 165Hz as it is more than enough and saves battery. I'm happy that they've built this laptop well! I'll be sure to open it up once in a while to clean it up! Thanks for the reply ( ◑‿◑)ɔ┏--┑٩(^◡^ )
  19. Thanks for moving this post. I'll be more careful next time when posting!
  20. This is the main reason I was thinking against a gaming laptop for University. I will do this if I end up upgrading my PC instead but for now the Lenovo Legion 5 2021 looks like a good buy (It has a Hybrid power mode, which extends battery life and gives around 7 hours!) Thanks for the Info! After looking at some videos, I think Lenovo appear to have good thermals/thermal settings! That's the plan I'm looking at the Lenovo Legion 5 2021 Ryzen 7 5800H RTX 3070 165Hz That sounds great! The laptop 3070 appears to in between the desktop 3060 and desktop 3070, which is impressive! Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to double check how reliable and well the laptop I'm looking at will perform. As you've said, there appears to be many laptops that are not very reliable/not build well
  21. I checked and it appears that the battery life can last around 7 hours when set to one of the power modes and around 3 hours running in the normal mode. 7 hours sounds pretty solid and should do the trick. After seeing your messages, I checked some videos, which ran several games on the Lenovo laptop and it appeared to perform well in temperatures with 60s for the GPU and 70s for the CPU. I think this shouldn’t cause throttling so it sounds good. Thanks for the heads up @Tech87 @Forbidden Wafer!
  22. Good point @wONKEyeYEs I’ll watch some videos and found out how long the battery will last during productivity sessions. Thanks for the reminder!
  23. I was planning on upgrading my build (had for like 3-4 years) and I noticed that recent gaming laptops were looking pretty good! At first I felt like it was a crazy idea but I started creating a new build that I could switch to in the coming months and it was around 1k (Ryzen 5 5600X + 3060 assuming I could get one for around 400). This didn't even include storage (already have 2 SSDs and a HDD) and it was a little costly. I then looked at some laptops and I found a laptop with a Ryzen 7 5800H, 3070, 16GB RAM, 165Hz display, 512GB M.2 (with space for my current 1TB M.2) and more for 1.3k! It has most of its ports at the back so it'll look good on the desk/setup and it's portable!! I could take it downstairs and plug it into the larger TV when playing RDR2 and then go back to my room to play some Valorant or Battlefield 2042 on the desk/setup. These new laptops also have USB C Display ports alongside the HDMI allowing for multiple displays. It's got a nice form factor, which helps with the fact that I'll probably be going University in September (I'll have to buy a laptop anyway) I've always had a desktop computer so I am not sure if there are any hidden downsides to having a laptop instead of a desktop computer (You can't upgrade the GPU, but I'll be fine with the 3070 for many years) It looks like a good buy to me so I may switch to it in the coming months. I wonder if I will miss the feeling of having the big metal machine, which I can admire, clean and change parts every now and again...
