  1. As an evolution of my electronics hobby, I wanted to make a minimal effort system to communicate who of my cats has been fed and how long since that happened. It will be Raspberry Pi Zero W powered contraption, and I'm wondering the best way to make a battery system to power it because I dont have an outlet close to them. and I think it would be a fun project to do. - The Final device will run a webserver that will make the times available there as well. But there will be a display with the times updated as well - I am not sure about the best way to power it because I am new to BMS systems. - I have 100 Samsung 18650 cells that I got free from someone who recycled 350 BRAND NEW cells at my work. -I want to have at least 2 cells, or enough to power the device for over 1 day. They are 3200mAh cells at 4.2 volts max. - I was intending to use 18650 cells holders similar to these to hold them securely but I would like to be able to charge via USB C. - I am not sure if there is a board that does USB C charging and 5V output for a pi zero W and 128x128 white pixel screen (I am considering using an electrophoretic display if I can find one large enough for my needs), or if it is more cost effective to get them in separate pieces. I just don't want to rely solely on Bing GPT and order the wrong stuff. Thank you for reading my word vomit, have a good day
  2. Is Bing GPT down for anyone else? It doesn't seem to be a issue with Pi-Hole and it is making me quite confused. There don't seem to be recent headlines about it and I know it worked literally 2 days ago. Does anyone have ideas?
  3. I know. I'm saying that some of the memory chips were not being cooled at all. What I ended up putting there was thinner than the surrounding pads, so it shouldn't have impacted anything. I did repaste. And my temperatures have gone down. I also used kryonaut, which probably helped.
  4. I had noticed they were different thicknesses. I figured since this was a very temporary thing, some cooling is better than none, so I cut one of the memory pads in half and laid it over the few that were not getting cooled at all. I figure marginally better cooling is better than nothing for as long as it's been so far...
  5. Well boy do I feel a dumbass. Thanks for humoring me It also occurred to me that my RTX 2080 that had died for would have serviceable thermal pads for immediately right now. I will of course order the replacements, but for now my EVGA RTX 2080 SC lives on!
  6. This was an eBay card, I got a couple months ago, didn't really think much of it, But I occurred to me that the fans shouldn't really be ramping up incredibly high when booting and then back down. So I popped apart the cooler (which was already missing two backplate screws), and this is what I found. Some of these are just straight and missing, and I have no idea what I need to get to replace all of these. Looking at the state of some of these, I think I should just replace every single one of them. And before you ask, yes that thermal paste dripping all over the board is hard, I did not drip that across the board. I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't think to check this sooner, But it is high time I correct it.
  7. Oh okay. That makes sense. Apologies I didn't get back to this lol.
  8. It has only ever been logged once, but the error was transferred when I did a Backup and restore of my settings from my Pi Zero W to my new Raspberry Pi4. I have yet to see it again, but I wanted to be sure before shrugging it off. I see it is possibly just owned by IANA, but I do not know why that would have ever registered.
  9. Y'know what, I think I missed your actual argument and saw you satirizing someone else's. My apologies, I just got off work and evidently misread something along the way. But I must be off to bed.
  10. I was not aware that had transpired till earlier today, I knew the community could be toxic, but I was not remotely aware of how bad it was.
  11. Edit: misread conversation, my point was moot
  12. I think there is a very small group of these keyboard warriors that are just moronic incels. I feel like some people have INTENTIONALLY brought things up. I do worry for Madison, as I am sure this is bringing up a lot of nasty memories.
  13. Don't worry, I definitely did not give a clear question. I have let him know that he more or less cannot get anything under a 4070 or the upper echelon of AMDs new GPUs. I did mention that he could go 3080/3080ti if he was okay buying off of eBay, but I haven't heard back about that yet.
