  1. So pictures of people benchmarking these things are just them lying Gotcha bro Also snaps are notorious for being slow because they have to decompress before launching or something like that.
  2. In Linux there are so many different kind of packages and it'd be fun to have a list of what package manager is best for what applications. Obviously for a lot things you'll be using your inbuilt package manager, Apt, dnf, pacman etc.... But for Flatpaks, Snaps, and AppImages it'd be fun to have like launch speeds, performance, and general responsiveness benchmarked and clearly displayed on a website hence my question. Benchmark it thrice on like Arch, Fedora, and whatever popular Ubuntu/Debian derivative like Pop_OS and for applications just pick the more commonly used ones. Personally I'd use this for deciding which package manager to use for each applications. Thoughts?
  3. The problem was that I used a USB 3.2 drive instead of an ancient 2.0 device. I just shut the mobo off and then used the correct drive and then did the same procedure with the bios files from gigabytes website. I was afraid that I might brick the mobo if I shut it off before it shut itself off but after an hour I figured it wouldn’t shut itself off and just yoloed turning the PSU off. And it worked. My computer posted and I’m never doing bios flashback again. Way too much stress
  4. I saw a video and it said GIGABYTEs Qflash led should be blinking when it’s flashing the bios. But it’s just shining without interruption. What am I supposed to do? Is it safe to turn off the PSU and try again? Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4 is the Mb.
  5. Budget (including currency): 6000~ SEK Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Nothing specific Other details I'm just upgrading CPU & Motherboard and keeping the RAM, upgrading from 7700K I just want MOBO suggestions that will be able to obviously use a 13600K and DDR4 Memory also ATX/M-ATX/ITX are fine. 13600K Costs about 4000 SEK so the budget for the Motherboard is around 1500-2000 SEK, I was wondering if anyone had good suggestions for MOBOs in that realm that are good, good VRMs (I think they're called), 2 M.2 slots, Preferable has WIFI/Bluetooth not a requirement, decent onboard audio and whatever else makes a good MOBO, it's generally for gaming so I/O isn't that important.
  6. Where I'm from the sales tax is a lot higher than the US and Europe in general is expensive for technology. So my price points are a little adjusted. What are the numbers for? Also this doesn't really explain differences like why is this better than this?
  7. I know that there are a lot of information to be found that's easily digestible about this topic. However I feel like when you read up about stuff like this it takes you into rabbit holes. What I'm specifically wondering about is gaming. I'm just going to dump everything I've gathered by osmosis into my questions just so people can get a feel for my knowledge on the subject. So there are two sockets that's in use right now and they are AM4 and LGA1151 and they are for AMD and Intel respectively. My first question is about price points, what should you expect from something that's $100, $200, and $300. I'm assuming mid tier boards should've overclocking capability and wifi. What do I get for more expensive motherboards? And what do I give up for going into the $100 range. My second question is about onboard sound. Does every motherboard in these price ranges have the same sound capabilities if you're just going for something generic without getting boards specifically for sound? Right now I have some Realtek thingy and I'm assuming that's the onboard soundcard are there other manufacturers that are better which I should look out for? What are VRMs and are they better if you go for more expensive boards? Follow-up, how do I differentiate between the bad and the good if there are differences? Is latency between your components something you should keep in mind when buying a motherboard? What's up with the naming schemes? X570, B450 etc... Are they the same for Intel & AMD? I get that they are for different price points but beyond that I'm clueless. Clockspeeds for RAM, some boards are capable of like 3600 MHz whilst some are only capable of 3000 MHz. I know that AMD depends on these speeds a lot for performance compared to intel, so if you're buying intel can you just disregard that and go for lower speeds without sacrificing performance? It's hard to know what you don't know of. So are there more things I should consider when buying a motherboard? For my upgrade I'm going with Ryzen and my considerations are, RAM speeds, M.2 Nvme slots, wifi & blue tooth and good onboard sound and I'd like overclocking capability.
  8. I read this spec sheet about my Motherboard (https://www.quietpc.com/asus-z270h-strix-gaming) It says that only the second slot is for PCIe or SATA so I should always be golden if I just use my first slot since it can't interfer with any SATA ports or did I read this incorrectly?
  9. This makes it a little fuzzy for me. Will my M.2 slot make use of the PCIe slot to make the SSD NVME run at maximum capacity or will it go through the SATA connection and bottleneck? This is like my problem atm I don't know how to know if my Motherboard is compatible to reach those speeds.
  10. I have a ROG STRIX Z270H Gaming Motherboard and I don't know if it's compatible with the NVME M.2 SSDs. If I've done my research correctly the fast one is PCIE and the slow one is SATA. So what I'm wondering is if I'll get top speeds with this motherboard if I for example install Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD V-NAND. And does the slot matter because I have two M.2 slots.
  11. I'm using prisjakt.nu for prices. It takes the prices from most retailers and shows the lowest price point. If you have any other suggestion for buying parts in Sweden I'm all ears
  12. The thing is, I'm from Sweden and everything is expensive here. But I'm planning on buying a 144hz 1080p monitor. I'm open to upgrades. I'm willing to up to $1500-1700.
