  1. That's sold out and Corsair said on their forums that my cpu cooler is not supported: https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/173048-is-the-h115i-pro-rgb-compatible-with-lga-1700/
  2. Isn't the 13600K basically also on a dead platform? I also necessarily don't really care that much if it's a dead platform. I don't inten to upgrade in the next 4 or 5 years so even AM5 could be a dead platform by then.
  3. I'm building a new PC. I already ordered a 6950XT and the NZXT H7 Flow case but I'm still deciding on which CPU to get. Either I get the 5800X3D or the i5-13600KF. 5800X3D €400 Asus B550-F Gaming Motherboard €160 Corsair H115i Pro €0 (Already have this cpu cooler from a previous build) --> However this cooler is 4/5 years old already and I don't know how well it will perform with the 5800X3D Total: €560 i5-13600KF €300 NZXT N5 Z690 Motherboard €189 NZXT X73 Kraken AIO €179 (Corsair H115i Pro is not compatible with 1700 socket) Total: € 668 I also have 32GB Corsair RAM (Corsair CMK32GX4M4D3000C16) But it's 3000Mhz and is actually running at 2933Mhz because it crashes at 3000MHz. So I'm not sure if I should get new RAM with better speed and timings or if it wouldn't be that noticable in games. And I wonder if the 5800X3D is less reliant on better RAM because of the cache it has on the CPU. I've heard people say that the 13600K is better than the 5800X3D in most games but I'm not sure how true that is, when it's paired with DDR4 RAM instead of DDR5 The PC will mainly be used for gaming at 1440p 144hz. Mainly for games like WoW and Valorant but also AAA games on hopefully ultra settings. The plan is to not upgrade the pc for 4 or 5 years after this. Which CPU would you suggest in this case and should I get new RAM as well or will my current RAM suffice?
  4. My boyfriends birthday is at the end of November and I want to buy him a new monitor. He currently has a really old monitor (Asus V23HL) and is always saying that my monitor looks so much better (I have a Dell S2417DG). So I want to surprise him with a new monitor. I want to buy a 24 or 27 inch, 1440p, 144 Hz, G-sync (compatible) monitor for him. And the two best choice seem to be either the Dell S2417DG (It's the monitor I already have so I know it's good), or the new LG 27GL850. The Dell is €450 and the LG is €500. Only downside I see for the LG is that it's G-sync compatible, so it doesn't have the G-sync hardware. So I'm worried that it won't be as fluid when his fps drops while gaming as it is with G-sync. But I don't know that much about G-sync compatible. Besides that the LG is a lot newer, it's bigger and the colours should be better I assume. I should mention his setup. i7-8700 GTX 1070 Ti Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 3 16GB RAM 620 watt seasonic psu (I think, not sure about that one) So he has a 1070 Ti and I'm not sure if he will be able to maintain 144 fps in the games he plays (Fortnite, PUBG, WoW classic, Dota 2, Overwatch). But with G-sync it shouldn't matter that much, right? I could go for a 1080p, 144hz monitor which would still be a big upgrade for him but I feel like it's more worthwile to go for 1440p as well, seeing as it would last much longer. Which monitor should I buy?
  5. I have a Dell S2417DG for a few years now and I'm really happy with it. Now I'm looking to get a second monitor to use for browsing/discord while I'm playing games. I've mostly been looking at Dell monitors that have the same bezels/stand and I'm deciding between the following ones: * Dell P2418D (€224) * Dell P2419H (€156) * Dell U2419H (€195) * Acer Nitro VG240Y (€150) * Acer Nitro VG240YU (€204) I've read that having a 60 Hz and 144 Hz screen together can cause issues, especially while playing games. Can I plug in the second monitor to my onboard graphics (i7-8700K) and the other one to my GPU (GTX 1080Ti) and will that fix those issues? I also read about G-Sync not working correctly if you have two monitors and play in borderless windowed. Is there anything I can do about that? Also do I need to go for a Quad HD monitor because my main monitor is also Quad HD or does that not matter? I'm worried that everything won't scale well if I go for full HD.
  6. I haven't tested outside of the case yet. But I removed the RAM and still didn't get any beep codes. And from what I read on the internet, my mobo should beep when no RAM is installed, so it might be the mobo that is broken.
  7. This is the backplate: https://imgur.com/a/FAPQz1K
  8. I tried booting with the cpu power unplugged and it's the same as when it is plugged in. Motherboard is on, 3 pin case fans are running. CPU fans not ofcourse and pwm case fans aren't running either. I don't know if my motherboard has POST code LEDs. I only see the model name LED, the Supreme FX LED and the Standby Power Led turned on.
  9. Could be but the only thing that I did was it move it from one case to another, it worked fine before. And how would I know if the motherboard is the issue. I don't have another motherboard lying around.
  10. I will try that. What would I need a motherboard beeper for? This motherboard should be able to give beep codes by itself right?
  11. So I bought a Fractal Design Define R6 case and a Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler. After installing everything into the new case, the moment of truth was there. Would it turn on? It did however, my cpu fans weren't running and my PWM fans weren't running either, however my 3 pin case fans did run. My motherboard also turned on and so did my GPU. However I can't get any display and I don't get any beep codes either. So is it safe to assume that the CPU isn't turning on and that's why I get no display and fans aren't running? It was a hassle to install the CPU cooler but I suppose I would have no other choice then. I already looked if any cables were loose. I left the RAM in while moving the motherboard to the new case, don't know if that can be the issue but wouldn't CPU fans still have to turn on then? I can't reseat the RAM unless I remove the CPU cooler. Also the USB 3 connector on the motherboard sits pretty loose, and it seems like 2 USB 3 connector pins are missing in the lower right. Which sucks because I probably won't be able to use USB3 then but that's not the problem of my pc not booting. I already tried booting without the USB 3 connector. Can someone help me out, and tell me which steps I should take to find out what the issue is. Specs: i7-6700K Bequiet! 12. I was indeed planning on getting the normal version then, I don't need the smart hub crap. Is there a similar graph of the noise levels somewhere, where both the h700 and the define r6 are compared? Hmm that's good then, so I will just have to decide on temperature vs noise and the design factor then.
  13. Hmm tough decision. I like the design of the H700i a bit more, it's a bit smaller, and I assume the cable management might be a bit easier on that one (I also like that you can just push a button to remove the back panel). But it's probably a bit louder then and about €40 more expensive than the Fractal Design. Why would the thermals be better on the nzxt than on the fractal design? Currently I have 2 intake fans and 2 exhaust fans.
  14. What about the NZXT H700i, is it better than the fractal design define r6?
  15. I'm looking for a new case because I'm not really happy with my current case (Phanteks Eclipse P400S), regarding noise and temperatures. I find my computer too loud while playing games like Fortnite and the temperatures go up to above 80c degrees for both my cpu and gpu under load. So I'm looking for a new case that can provide lower temperatures as well as being quieter. My budget is around €150. Here are my current specs: CPU Intel - Core i7-6700K 4GHz Quad-Core Processor €287.72 @ Mindfactory CPU Cooler Scythe - Mugen 5 51.2 CFM CPU Cooler €44.90 @ Caseking Motherboard Asus - Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard €99.90 @ Amazon Deutschland Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory €169.99 @ Amazon Deutschland Storage Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive €78.38 @ Amazon Deutschland Storage Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive €116.65 @ Mindfactory Storage Samsung - Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €42.90 @ Caseking Storage Seagate - Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - Video Card MSI - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GAMING X Video Card €836.99 @ Mindfactory Case Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400S ATX Mid Tower Case €84.90 @ Caseking Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply €97.94 @ Mindfactory Case Fan be quiet! - SilentWings 3 pwm 59.5 CFM 140mm Fan €18.60 @ Amazon Deutschland Case Fan be quiet! - SilentWings 3 pwm 59.5 CFM 140mm Fan €18.60 @ Amazon Deutschland Monitor Dell - S2417DG 23.8" 2560x1440 165Hz Monitor €440.54 @ Mindfactory Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts So far I've looked at the Fractal Design Meshify C (€90) , the Fractal Design Define C €95, the Fractal Design R6 (€120) and the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Special Edition (€117). The Meshify C seems to provide the best airflow but doesn't seem to be as quiet as the other two. Also I have 3 hdd's so I wouldn't be able to fit all three of them in that case. I'm also not sure if a bigger cpu cooler like the Cryorig R1 Ultimate would comfortably fit in that case. The Fractal Design Define C looks like a smaller R6, is it just a smaller version of the R6 or is the R6 superior to the Define C? The R6 seems a bit too big, but that wouldn't be a problem if that one would be the best for silentness and airflow. I haven't looked that much into the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Special Edition, but it's a bit smaller than the R6 at about the same price, it also has a mesh front which is good. I however don't know how good the phanteks is in terms of quietness and airflows versus the other two. Cable management is also important to me. Does someone have experience with any of those cases and could tell me which case would be best for me?
  16. Thanks for the elaborate explanation. I ordered 2 bequiet! silent wings 3 fans yesterday and I installed them in the front today. I put them as intake (I hope I did it right, the serial number side is faced towards the case). And I put the stock fan that was in the front, into the top and put it as an exhaust. So now I have two front intake, one top exhaust and one rear exhaust.
  17. I just looked in my case and saw that CHA_FAN1, CHA_FAN2 and CHA_FAN3 are all still available so I wouldn't need a splitter I suppose. I have no idea how I connected the 2 pre-installed fans then, I remember connecting them with a splitter but I don't know where I connected the splitter then. But as long as it works. Maybe I should just buy one Bequiet! Silent Wings 3 and one Noctua NF-14 Chromax. Having different case fans doesn't really matter right?
  18. I understand but I mean that the HDD might be obstructing the airflow of the fan there. I read that static pressure fans are better at pushing air when obstructed by something than high airflow fans. But I don't know if it's necessary.
  19. Okay but as far as I can see the Noctua is a bit more powerful but the Bequiet is more silent right? I was already thinking of moving the 120mm fan in the front that came pre-installed to the top and then adding the two new 140mm fans in the front. Also I have one hdd in front of the front fan right now, so I'm wondering if I should get a static pressure fan to place there but I don't know if that's necessary? I'm just wondering if I need a splitter to be able to connect all of the fans (4 in total then), I have never placed case fans myself before so I'm not sure if there are enough fan headers or something like that, so I thought I would need a splitter to be able to connect them all. I don't need any fancy software control, I just want to be able to connect all of the fans and preferably connect them with PWM so that I can control them in the BIOS.
  20. I have a Phanteks Eclipse P400S case, it comes with 2 fans pre-installed. One at the front (120mm) and one at the rear (120mm). I assume one is intake and one is exhaust. I want to add 2 more fans, one at the top (exhaust) and one more at the front (intake). Would this be a good idea to better the airflow in my case? My case allows for 140mm fans, I assume that these would be better than 120mm fans right? As far as performance and sound go. So now my question is, which fans should I buy. I've did some research and I'm deciding between the Noctua NF-14 Chromax (I assume they have the same performance as the non-chromax ones right?) and the bequiet! Silent Wings 3. They're both around the same price here. Which of those would be better performance and sound wise? I'm also wondering if I need to buy some sort of splitter to connect the two new fans, and if yes which one should I buy? 21. So currently I have a Steelseries Siberia Raw Prism headset. I like it, sound is clear to me (I'm not an audiophile), it's super comfortable (only weighs 200 grams), but the microphone isn't that great. It's falling apart a bit after lots of use. So I'm looking at buying a new headset. I googled for a bit and landed on the Sennheiser game one. It seems like it has good sound, a good microphone and also looks comfortable and not too heavy. But I'm wondering if I would need a soundcard for this headset? I have a Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard. I don't know if the onboard sound is good enough, or if that doesn't matter. Could someone enlighten me?
  22. Thanks for the explanation, I figured as much. I tried to run some tests with HD Tune and it shows two warnings in the health section, I have no idea if that's anything to be concerned about: https://imgur.com/a/M1pAi I also added a screenshot of the read test, and it seems to be fine I guess, although it sometimes dips down a bit for a moment.
  23. Is it normal that both of my hdd's are SATA 3gb/s instead of 6 gb/s? I'm assuming they aren't able to use 6gb/s because they're old. I have 4 sata 6gb/s ports and they are all in there but only my SSD shows up as 6gb/s. https://imgur.com/a/x2wZp
  24. I opened up my case, fiddled a bit with the sata cable on that drive and now the drive is working again. Still I kind of feel like the HDD is dying. There are no weird sounds though. I downloaded CrystalDiskInfo and it shows up as a good drive. https://imgur.com/a/LBgm6
  25. So one of my HDD's is a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB. I bought it about 5 years ago and used it mainly to store games and series. I was watching an episode of a serie today, which was located on that HDD. Multiple times during the episode it freezes and I see some sort of artifacts, this happens fairly often when I watch series that are located on that drive, I just thought that the HDD was slow. Games located on that drive do work correctly though. But while watching the episode, it suddenly froze and nothing happened for about a minute, then I got some sort of error and my drive was nowhere to be seen in the explorer. I opened the BIOS and I couldn't see it there either. So can I assume that my HDD is dead and that I should buy a new one? Luckily nothing important was on that drive.
