  1. @Sauron follow my topics? you mean like subscribe to the thread I post? if so i never need to do that im far too impatient and diligent im always checking for replies. usually several times a minute lol. Hmm think i can put this post as answered now right? Lets see if i can do that lol
  2. well like a good doctor who fan i feared the silence. unfortunately the silence found me. I made sure all fans were off and booted to bios. I even disconnected my secondary HDD so its noise wouldnt interfere and I heard nothing. and my ear was so close to the pump I was afraid I was guna touch the board and electrocute myself via the ear. So im guessing that means dead pump right? If so im guna look at the silver lining. NEW AIO SHOPPING YEAH! thanks to @Sauron @Mixzzz @ThinkWithPortals @VioDuskar @Luke
  3. interesting hadnt though of booting to bios and turning off fans will try it. thanks sauron Havent tried reseating but the block hasnt moved so not sure that would help and Yeah without the fans I could probably hear it but even with the fans on low my hearing is that bad that i cant hear the block. Ill get back to you with my results in a moment
  4. Hi all, Think ive just encountered my first pc component falure (despite how badly i treat them). I came home from work and started playing KSP a very CPU heavy game. I noticed that there was considerable lag when I had youtube open in the back ground which was odd because thats never happened before. i looked through task manager and no new or unusual progs were running. Then i noticed core temp. The temps read 103C, i nearly pee'd myself. Upon inspection the fans on my H100 were not running and at first I thought the cooler had died. But after some cable rerouting the fans came back to life. Ahhhhh i thought to myself good job. That was a premature self pat on the back. upon restarting the pc the temps were in the 70's at idle. No biggy i thought after all I am not the only one using this pc and the other guy was probably playing bloody farmville all day and didnt notice what had happened and I presumed after a few minutes temps would drop back to normal. They didnt. and in fact they stayed at 74 ish under loads between 0-11% after much more fiddling the only conclusions I can come to are 1. Chip got knackered somehow by being run without active cooling and now cant cool down. 2. Corsair H100 pump has died and so no flow. 3. I havent left it turned off long enough for it too cool down from its hot hot hot temps I wanted your guys input see which you think is right. Firstly I dont (as yet) have an alternate cooler to try on it. These are my findings. Fans may have been idle while pc in operation for possible 8 plus hours. (farmville, google and some youtube stuff were likely only usage during that time). Fans are working now LED lights are showing on corsair pump assembly and when pressing the button to switch modes the LEDS are changing and so are fan speeds Fans are running at max rpm but still temperature is not dropping This is under almost complete idle load Molex power supply is on same cable as hard drive power supply (molex to sata for HDD) and the hard drives are fine. Also fans are connected to the pump/cpu block and they are running again so im thinking power is fine. on the plus side if it is dead i can look for a new cooler. Also should mention no RMA possible this was a manufacturer refurbished model i got many moons ago (3 years+) from overclockers.co.uk on special offer because was refurbished only £29.99 but only 90 warranty. Thanks forgot to mention I cant really hear if the pump is working because of the fan placement,
  5. Actually that link states theyve decided the decision made originally was wrong but that they hadnt decided what action should be taken. Quote from the article on the link reads "The government's choices are now to remove the private copying exception—making personal copying illegal again, or to supply additional evidence that copyright owners suffer no or minimal “harm” from personal copying, or else to begin imposing a new tax on users to compensate the industry for that “harm”. The article I posted states they have now made a decision and decided its illegal rather than imposing a tax or showing it does no harm so not a repost.
  6. that plus what i presume would be a liberal desemination of cash to influential people so they lobby against it. I had a look again and couldnt find anything back to the 15/07/2015. There was something about a US judge and cable. Previously this might of been a story because it was deemed legal to copy what you own but this post is because the ruling has been overturned
  7. i had a look for posts about this using the search tool couldnt see anything. Ill look again and if it is ill take it down
  8. original article http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/33566933/ripping-music-and-films-illegal-again-after-high-court-overturns-new-law These are the two factors that stand out for me. Firstly this means if you have old songs or stuff thats not on itunes you have to carry the cds with you everywhere if you want to listen to them. Not only that but would mean youd have to buy a CD player. No one is going to do this. It would basically mean that companies such as apple could loose revenue since the device they have cant store this music or that a person would have to buy the song multiple times on multiple platforms. There is an arguement that people could stream from there home pc to a device but this wouldnt work either I mean if you purchase it through itunes and stream it to an iphone sure. but what if the music is only available from an old CD you cant rip it to the pc. Not to mention the data charges people not on unlimited plans or in non-wifi areas could incurr just for playing music. And the last part is what really grinds my gears if the courts didnt take action why bother making it a law that says you cant. Its like all those old daft laws. stupid things that say you cant juggle geese while walking backward down a light path at night. Not to mention the possible ramifications this could bring about with other products. Will i be banned from jailbreaking my iphone, or installing an old version of android because the phones maker says what I have is right in their eyes for my device and im not allowed to copy or alter it in anyway and yes I know altering is different to copying but im still doing something with software/data that the developer didnt envisage and believes is wrong which isnt a great leap from what the music industry is saying
  9. Hi all, not too big of a problem i hope but thought id ask anyways. I have a secondary 750gb HDD (ssd is primary OS drive) in my machine that has for some reason recently started to disconnect and reconnect. Well i say disconnect but i dont actually see this i only see the reconnect. What happens is randomly while im doing something else such as playing games or reading emails the start bar will show 3 autoplay connections (the drive is in 3 partitions). I dont do anything with the drives to trigger this it just happens. the drive is mostly storage for movie/game backups. There are some large image files i use in photoshop but using photoshop doesnt seem to trigger the occurence. Ive made sure the sata and power connections are solid but this still happens. any ideas on a cause and or solution would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  10. It may not have been flying over the supermarket just near when it went tits up and just crashed onto the supermarkets grounds.
  11. It has the ability to use GPS but there was nothing to say how it was functioning at the time.
  12. A drone carrying illegal drugs has crashed near a US border crossing in Mexico. The quadcopter carrying 3kg (6.6lb) of methamphetamine was found in pieces in a supermarket car park near San Ysidro. Well amazon is trialing drone delivery and now so are the drug makers. This brings up a question ive been thinking about for a while. Anti-drone technology to protect important buildings and the like. What can you use to protect them also im thinking investing in anti-drone technology might be a good idea as IMO it will soon be as much of a growth industry as drones themselves. Source
  13. well the article says there skill in using general IT and Admin for the plant was "evident" whatever that means but even if it was teens that just makes it worse. Imagine what someone with nefarious motives could do
  14. Source: BBC News My worry here is how long before digital affecting physical attacks made by hackers starts to target the individual. I dont mean to give any ideas and I hope they never read this but how long before someone gets a call saying "we've hacked your relatives life support systems in the hospital give us money or we turn it off" "Benjamin Sonntag, a software developer and digital rights activist, told Reuters: "We do not expect a nuclear power plant or steel plant to be connected to the internet." i know the internet of things is generally speaking a good idea in the advancement of human kind but aren't there certain things that just shouldn't be connected? your thoughts?
  15. "I wanna view you in 4k so I can see everything!" ok real world nerd chat up line "squeeky voice noise... errrrr.... squeeky voice noise....my.....errr... squeeky voice noise.....errr....name" at this point the object of desire got bored and left. Now you want dirty this is dirty. "My optical drive never ejected so quickly before!" "I haven't fully tested but my liquid cooling only leaks now and then" "What am I into? EVGA classified SR-X. Why? 2 cpus 1 motherboard". (ok for those who really need it spelling out. 2 girls 1 cup) Yeah i know this one kinda grossed me out too but i couldnt help myself
