  1. Helping my friend with his first home built pc, wants to spend around or under 2.8k but is willing to spend 3k. I went with 5600X & 6600XT heres the list: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZvC2ht Anything need to be changed / Anywhere I should cut the price
  2. Budget (including currency): $2000ish Exc. Peripherals Country: New Zealand Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rust, CSGO, Overwatch, Fl Studio, Unreal Engine Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): CPU: R5 3600 GPU: 5600XT RAM: 16GB SSD: 250GB A2000 M.2 1TB 860 QVO PSU: Corsair 650RM I picked the 3600 over the 3600X to lower the price, however if its worth it i'll happily spend the extra $80. I picked the 5600XT due to its price slotting somewhere between the 1660S and the 5700XT which I considered my two other options. I plan on using the 250GB M.2 for windows and boot up apps, maybe some games. I think the 1TB QVO will suffice until I can afford a larger SSD. I didnt look into the PSU very much I basically just picked one I thought to be reliable but not disgustingly over priced. 3. Budget (including currency): 1000nzd Country: Nzl Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming & school Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Trying to help a friend build their first pc What I had in mind Initially was an r5 3600 and 1660s, 16gb ram 1tb hdd & 1tb ssd. But after the case psu and peripherals this looked like it was going to be at least $500 over budget. Not exactly sure what sacrifices to make however I’d like the gpu if possible
  4. Does this hold any insights? Below is hop 3 and the final hop
  5. For the last couple of weeks my ping has increased from a consistent 60, to 90 with constant spikes of 300. This isnt just happening on a specific server, its anything I connect to. I've tried the classic off n on/factory reset on my modem about a million times before anyone suggests that. I noticed the problem on my PC, which is connected with Ethernet, but even when I disconnect everything and run speed tests from my phone, there's no improvement. We've very recently gotten this modem and it worked incredibly better than our last one for the first few weeks we used it, apart from some issues due to it being 4G.
  6. Im having this issue: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/good-download-speed-but-high-ping.2870650/ And need to reinstall my network drivers
  7. Okay so I've now tried another gpu (which I THOUGHT was working) and still had no luck. Unfortunately though I have no way of testing any of these GPU's at the moment and it's not improbable that they're all fucked. Are you certain it has to be a problem with the gpu, I was thinking maybe it was the motherboard but I'm clueless, just really hope I dont need a new gpu EDIT: I've just installed one of my GPU's into the dualBIOS slot on my motherboard, and that currently seems to be running fine. Maybe confirming it was the motherboard?
  8. I'm connecting a dvi to to desktops gpu, tried an hdmi that I know works but no luck. I've now gotten my pc to boot and work using intergrated graphics, but I have no clue why my gpu would suddenly stop working. Also for intergrated graphics to work, after removing my gpu I had to reboot my pc without its battery. Seems super fucking weird
  9. This morning when I went to start my pc, I only received no signal messages. I've tried two monitors and multiple cables but I'm still getting no signal
  10. My friend wants to invest in a 2700x build for around 2000NZD, hes already purchased a 144hz freesync monitor. https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZCVQHh This is a build i just threw together, any tips?
  11. I’ve recently started using a Display Port cable with my 144hz monitor in order to get the monitor to actually run at 144hz, but I’ve encountered some issues. For a couple days all went smooth I was going about my day with a lovely 144 frames until one morning when I turned my computer, the monitor displayed ‘No signal’. This was easily fixed by restarting my computer, however the issue persisted for a couple days, requiring me to restart my computer after booting it in order for my monitor to display anything. I thought this in itself was an odd issue but I didnt care that much because it seemed to be easily solved. However one day restarting my computer didnt work, I tried all I could think of until I found another DP cable which when plugged in worked (from memory) instantly. Not long after I starting using this DP cable though the same issue came about, requiring me to restart in order to do anything until finally this DP cable stopping working. Now the only thing that works is a DVI cable, not this wouldnt be an issue but for some reason everytime I set my monitor from 59hz to 144hz, it reverts instantly. When I was using an HDMI changing it to 144hz wasnt even avaliable, so it seems weird to me that now it is avalible but doesnt work. I press apply with 144hz selected and once the monitor returns from being black its still at 59hz. Essentially I have two issues; Im unsure if my 3 DP are all buggered or if perhaps the DP input on my GPU (RX 480) or on my monitor (AOC G2460PF) are bugged and perhaps causing these cables to die somehow…?? Also I’ve no idea why my DVI isnt allowing me to run my monitor at 144hz Any comments or help would be greatly appreciating as I can no longer cope with just 59 frames.
  12. My schools Wi-Fi has blocked most social medias so usually i would use a use a vpn and i was able to use them. But now no vpns are working and I talked to one of the it staff and all he told me was they've got a way to counteract them or something. Help?
  13. I personally wouldn't bother spending that much on headphones, I'd go for something cheap but well reviewed something like the Panasonic RP-HJE125
  14. Why not just get a headset?
