The Future Linus's Achievements

  1. Ryzen is a good choice, although I was kind of expecting to just buy the motherboard and RAM, use my current CPU for a little bit and save to get the best I can.
  2. Yes, ATX, New Jersey, and probably an 9th gen
  3. I've been looking for a massive overhaul of my PC, mainly the motherboard, CPU and RAM. I'm currently running a DDR3 Gigabyte board, with an i5 6600, and 4 x 4GB Ballistix Sport RAM. The main thing I was going to do was upgrade my CPU, however I can't go any higher than a 6000 series on my current motherboard. I'm planning on getting an i7 9700k, potentially 8700k or i5 9700k. I'm not exactly sure what RAM I would get, although I know it's going to be 16GB. The only thing I haven't been able to find is a good motherboard. A google search has come up with basically nothing, and I'm sure your experience is much more helpful than an article. Thanks!
  4. The original comes with 2 sensors, doesn't it?
  5. I'm asking about this because I haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer online. How many base stations does the HTC Vive need for roomscale, and do you think that it would be a better investment to just get the stock Vive as apposed to a Rift with an extra sensor? Thanks.
  6. I'm looking for a pair of headphones for my new OnePlus 6T, but I don't have too much money to do so. Around $100 is my budget. It would be preferred to have earbuds, however I would like the quality of full on-ear headphones. I would be using them in pretty mobile places, like getting on and off the bus quickly and walking around. I haven't really found anything that check all those boxes for my price range, so I'm wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks!
  7. Thanks! All these responses are really helpful. I'll see how my PC runs VR, then make my decision.
  8. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H170-HD3 DDR3. Sorry, it's a bit obscure. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H170-HD3-DDR3-rev-10#ov
  9. EVGA bronze 500W, Corsair 200R, Noctua 357, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, and the Ram was 4 8 gig sticks of ballistix sport.
  10. Core i5 6600, Radeon RX 580, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, 1080p mostly, Battlefield 5, and am hoping to get into VR, hence the better CPU.
  11. I built my PC, for reasons beyond me, with a DDR3 motherboard. I honestly have no idea what I was thinking, but what's done is done. I've been using it in its current configuration, 16 gigs of DDR3 for a few years now, and have had no issues running anything. However, I've been looking to upgrade my CPU to an 8th Gen series, which isn't supported on my motherboard, nor by my RAM. So, my question is, should I change my motherboard for a DDR4, 8th/9th gen CPU compatible one and basically get rid of around 150$ of RAM, or just stay in my current config and wait? Thanks to any replies.
