  1. Wow, I hadn't considered Discs, but these seem to fit the purpose quite successfully. It seems to be quite cost effective too! I had never heard of M-Discs... Thank you a lot Chiyawa! I'll look further into it
  2. Hi everyone! My father traveled a lot in his youth, mainly through Africa, and he filmed a lot during those years. Now, he's been digitalizing his Super 8mm films to 1080p, thanks to a setup he build himself. But sadly, my father passed away a year ago. Now I have all this footage that I want to conserve for as long as possible. If you're interested in the kind of footage he stores, he had a YouTube channel with snippets of his travels. Here's a link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/8mmFreak/videos Now the thing is that I'm new to long term storage, and I'd be thankful if you could help me find something that would serve this purpose. I was thinking of using a DAS or NAS, and use RAID for redundancy. But I've never worked with those in the past and I'm afraid I'll lose the footage, as it's just on external HDD, without any backup as of right now. I wouldn't use the network feature if it's a NAS, and there's no new footage that's getting added. So its just conservation of existing footage. Thank you for your attention and help. Have a nice day! Edit: Fixed link.
  3. Hi everyone, so I stumbled upon something I had never seen before. My mother's laptop has recently been showing some strange behaviour. She is watching some videos on the internet, and it suddenly freezes. But it freezes completely. No Ctrl+Alt+Delete, no Alt+F4, no Alt+Tab, nothing. It responds to absolutely nothing. It doesn't even go to sleep if you close the lid, nor if you press the power button. But then, when you restart the computer it works as if nothing happened, only for it to freeze some random time later. The details for the laptop are: - Model: Acer Aspire ES1-533 - Processor: Intel Pentium CPU N4200 @ 1.10GHz - RAM: 4GB (DDR3) - Graphics: Intel integrated HD Graphics - SSD: /!\ This is the only thing that was ever modified on this laptop. I replaced the crappy 5400rpm 1TB HDD for a Crucial BX300 240GB SSD. The Windows 10 installation is also fresh from when the HDD was replaced with the SSD. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on? I've never seen anything like this... Cheers everybody Edit: It does forcedly shutdown if you press and hold the power button.
  4. Okay, thanks. That's sad. I was hoping it may work over USB-C, as it supports DP 1.2 and Alternate Mode, but I just read in the monitor's manual that it supports FreeSync only over HDMI... Sad.
  5. So I was reading this reddit article about how to enable the new "Adaptive-Sync" NVIDIA has enabled for Freesync monitors. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/ag6a9f/how_to_enable_adaptivesync_freesync_if_you_have/ The thing is, apparently G-Sync only works over DP, and that's fine, my GTX1050Ti does have that, but my LG Monitor (LG-29UM59A-P) only has USB Type-C and HDMI inputs. So my question is if I'll be able to have Freesync over a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (DP (GPU) -> HDMI (Monitor)) or, somehow, over USB Type-C? Thanks!
  6. Thank you very much! That is pretty close. The only thing I think it misses is LED Backlighting. I guess if I can't find anything better, I'll get this. Thanks again for the help. I'll still be open to suggestions.
  7. First of all, thank you very much for your attention. I'm having quite hard time finding a mechanical keyboard that satisfies some of my needs. What I'm looking for is: A mechanical keyboard, with... - Switches: Cherry MX Red or Brown. - Size: TenKeyLess. - Lighting: Preferably White or RGB. - Price: Around 100-130€ (approx. 116-150 US Dollars). - I LOVE the design of the Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro S, and the Logitech G PRO, but I can't find any TKL keyboards with the following: - MAIN PROBLEM: Spanish (Spain) ISO Layout. I have found a German and an Italian variant of the Masterkeys Pro S, but no Spanish one. It would be ok for me to buy a German one and then buy some keycaps, the problem is that all I find is expensive keycaps, with ISO-UK layout. It would be ok for me to buy a ISO-ES set that costs 30-40€, or just the special accent, Ç and Ñ keys, but I just can't find them anywhere. Alternatively I would really like a keyboard, similar or identical to those mentioned above, but with native ISO-ES layout. If anyone can lend me a helping hand, I would be incredibly thankful. Thanks!
