  1. That's amazing. Guess I want to do that right before I shut it down for the last time?
  2. So I am going to be upgrading my PC to a 7700x this weekend from my older 8700k and I am not sure if there are any special things I might need to prepare for besides grabbing my windows key. Most of my other builds in the past have been a full rebuild but this time around I wanted to keep everything how it is currently and not start from scratch if possible. If it helps my current build is 8700k, Asus ROG Maximus X and ill be going to a 7700X and Asus ROG Strix X670E-E. GPU, m.2 boot drive and my HDD are going to be transferred over.
  3. Budget (including currency): $500 - $750 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming (FPS and newer single players i.e. MW2, Hogwarts Legacy, etc.) Some rendering for photo merging in Lightroom Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc.): Currently have 8700k build, 32GB 3600 DDR4, M.2 SSD, 2TB HDD, 3080Ti, 750w 80+ Plat PSU, 3440x1440 144Hz Monitor. Looking to get the most out of my system and want to get to a new platform. I am not partial to AMD or Intel but would like to stay on Windows 10 for now and not upgrade. Only concerns I have with an upgrade is a potential PSU upgrade and would like to keep my optical audio connector as I use that on my separate DAC/AMP stack.
  4. Yea, I've had some time to think it over and I think I'll end up parting alot of it out. I dont need @TB of ram and 128 cpu cores lol. Try and get inot a newer Dell or HP rack mount maybe. Biggest thing is testing these blades though
  5. Yea, its also hard to get info on blade servers for at home use. Think I'll part out most of it and get a nice upgrade out of it
  6. Yea thats what I am seeing, looks like I can get a chassis for it for around $200 to $400
  7. So long story short I got all the blades from a blade server. They are all Cisco UCS B200 M3's with dual E5-2640V2's and 256GB of DDR3 each but did not come with the chassis to hold them all. My question is what are some use cases for a blade server with 2TB of ram and what would I need to set it up and use it?
  8. Thank you that is what I was wanting to know, do you think I could get a newer 4TB HDD or should I try and find one of the same HDDs? All the newer ones that are NAS style drives are 5400RPM and the older HP is 7200
  9. So today I went to watch something on my Plex server and saw it was offline. I checked my server and one of the HDD's in my raid has a flashing orange light on the tray. Checked iLo and it says it has failed. I rebooted the server to see if it could potentially fix anything but it still says it has failed. The weird part that I am worried about is that it loaded into windows and it seems like things on that raid are working fine and I am able to play videos and load folders and such. MMy question is should I use the server while I wait on a replacement HDD or should I shut it down, also can I use just any drive as I don't know if I can find the 4TB HP drives that I am running anymore? Server is an HP Prolient DL380e G8, Raid controller is a P420, and the raid in question is 5 HP 4TB drives with the original trays.
  10. I appreciate all the info, ill give it a shot at tracking down the owner, if not I will either scrap it or sell it for parts potentially
  11. It was in a recycling bin, already cleared it with him to have it as well. Issue is I work for a large company so there is no way to know where it came from so I cannot get it unlocked if it is locked most likely
  12. I got a free A1707 macbook pro from work that this morning but it is not turning on. I am wanting to know if I send it in to someone to try and fix it, can I erase it and use it as my own or are these locked down to an account similiar to iphones. Also is it even worth trying top fix?
  13. I tried to do the rough math, 2070 supers are selling for 650 and the 3060 ti is selling for 850 to 950. SO if I get it for 500 I could just turn around and sell it and make 300 bucks, or I could keep it and sell my old card and only make 150. So I guess what I am looking at is making 300 or so bucks or doing a slight upgrade and making 150 bucks. Of course this depends on how much ebay takes in fees or what not.
  14. I think if my math is right i'd get the 3060ti for about what I got my 2070 super for
  15. So a friend of mine who was stacking up parts for a PC build ended up winning the newegg shuffle and got a 3060 Ti, a few days ago though he had some thing change and he needs to sell off the parts. So he offered the 6030 Ti to me for what he paid for it to get it gone quick. My question is this, should I buy it and sell my 2070 super and get this 3060 Ti or should I just keep my 2070 super. From what I have seen it performs as good as a 2080 super and in some tests beats it out by a few frames. Only worry is if I buy the 3060 Ti and sell my 2070 super that the cards might come down in price again and im left with a 3060 Ti that I have to sell when I really want a 3080 instead. For reference my 2070 super is an MSi Gaming X model and the 3060 Ti is a EVGA FTW3 Ultra Thanks guys
  16. Still happening, windows updated and it stopped for a short while, got back on after a few days off and its back but slightly different. When using the model D it still stops like it used to but the iron claw when wired constantly makes noises like its disconnecting but it does not freeze or anything. This is the weirdest none consistent issue I have ever seen before. Note: the issue with the COM error seems to be related to the xbox live stuff on windows, that should not stop a mouse from what I understand
  17. Okay so I found a guide that helped that by editing ownership. That helped a ton and now its almost gone, now getting a new error "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD} and APPID {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD} to the user DESKTOP-9D6I7P9\godbm SID (S-1-5-21-710014106-2538136065-872981212-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay_5.721.6282.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe SID (S-1-15-2-1714399563-1326177402-2048222277-143663168-2151391019-765408921-4098702777). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool." Not sure if that error is relevant or not but at this point if it continues I am going to reinstall Windows or something
  18. Okay so now it freezes when not running games, so its not a HW issue from what I can gather. Tried the drivers again to no avail. Looked in event viewer and found this happening constantly. The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239} and APPID {316CDED5-E4AE-4B15-9113-7055D84DCC97} to the user DESKTOP-9D6I7P9\godbm SID (S-1-5-21-710014106-2538136065-872981212-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_10.0.19041.1023_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-155514346-2573954481-755741238-1654018636-1233331829-3075935687-2861478708). 19. Okay while playing ATS I stopped all unnecessary programs/utilities, only had steam and ATS running and iCUE as well. Found that with the mouse plugged in I got the random lag still and when unplugged it went back to normal. I recorded it if a video helps.
  20. Another minor update, 100 can confirm its only mice that are wired, unplugged the Ironclaw while it was happening and its gone again, plug it back in and its back to lagging
  21. I see what your saying, never had an issue like that before though as I almost always have something else going on in the bnackground. I will try that and see what it does though I don't think it would be a limitation, seems more like a software thing as its only with mice while connected to the computer and nothing else. Should update that I now can confirm that its only while playing a game. Currently running ATS and watching youtube and its lagging again, only using 50% memory.
  22. System Info: OS - Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (Build 19042.1110) MOBO - Asus ROG Maximus X Hero WiFi (Bios Version 2203 date 10/7/19 and I just updated to 2503 date 9/25/20) CPU - 8700k OCed to 5.0Ghz all core RAM - 16GB of G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3000Mhz GPU - MSi RTX 2070 Super Gaming X on Dragon Center OC mode Drives - Boot/C drive 2TB Sabrent Rocket Q NVMe PCIe m.2 / WD Black 2TB PSU - Corsair HX750 Mice - First mouse that had the issue was a Glorious Model D, second mouse was a Corsair Iron Claw Wireless RGB Programs running while issue happens - iCUE, Steam, Battle.net, "NoiseBlocker", XBOX app, Spotify, Chrome with a few YouTube videos in tabs, the game I was playing (Warzone/ATS), might be some other small utilities running but those are most of the major programs running at the time. Problem - SO about a week ago I was playing Warzone and my mouse started locking up randomly, I reseated the mouse and rebooted my computer and I didn't notice it again until last night. Same symptom as before, randomly locking up in Warzone and also noticed on American Truck sim as well now. Below is all the TSing I have done so far 1. Reseated mouse, tried a rear port on the MOBO, cleaned mouse sensor all to no avail 2. Switched to the Ironclaw in wireless mode, saw no issues, tried wired to charge the mouse while using it and it started up again, wireless mode seemed to work fine 3. Downloaded an updates for windows, all I had was a anti virus update 4. Ran windows defender to be sure I was fine, don't do anything on the gaming PC other than games and YouTube mostly so thought a virus was unlikely 5. Uninstalled mouse drivers and rebooted to have it auto reinstall 6. While American Truck Sim was running in the background I played a song on Spotify and moved my mouse to see if any audio stopped and found it was fine when the mouse froze 7. (Newest) Updated the BIOS using the BIOS update tool that's in the BIOS (new version is 2503) So far that's all I have done, one thing to note is that its only mice having the issue and only wired mice. The Ironclaw in wireless mode was fine. My DAC is USB and has no issues as well as my keyboard, and MIC as well. I doubt the BIOS update will fic this but I will reply shortly if it does change anything
  23. In case anyone else has this issue. This how I fixed it as of now, may come back up later. on my laptop I was doing hdmi to hdmi but I switched to using the dp mini to hdmi cable and now the gaming pc using a different dp cable. Also went to lunch and just turned off the monitor for an hour or so during that time
