  1. Thanks, it's working fine now. I'll give my laptop a clean still though.
  2. Lately I've been having troubles with my laptop in games where I get huge frame drops, stuttering and screen tearing. It's only been like this the past few days and I've not had problems like this before even with prolonged gaming use of the laptop. I don't have any problems with any other applications. This happens in all games including when I amend the settings of the games to lower graphic settings I still get the same low FPS, stuttering and screen tearing, i.e, League of Legends I'm getting around 17-34 FPS at all graphic settings even though in the past I've had no troubles running at maximum settings above 60 FPS. I'm using the laptops high performance power settings with CPU performance at 100% and I've tried plugging it into an external screen and the same problems occur. I have also rollbacked my graphic drivers to the factory driver as well installed the latest driver from the NVIDIA website to test if that may be the problem and neither of those helped. Thanks. (I only purchased this laptop 4 months ago) Laptop Specs: Model: ASUS N550JK CPU: Intel i7-4710HQ 2.5GHz GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M Ram: 8 GB SSD: 240 GB SSD
  3. Is there a way to change Windows 10 volume control to Windows 7s volume control?
  4. Hello. I've got a pair of headphones (athm50x) and speakers (logitech z120). I have them both plugged into audio jacks, the headphones in the back panel and the speakers in the front panel. Whenever I plug in the logitech z120 they overlap the headphones on the soundcards CP and the sound control for windows. On the sound windows control It always has Speakers VIA High Definition Audio for both the speakers and headphones, so whenever one is plugged in after it'll overlap the last because they'll both be called VIA High Definition Audio. This a problem when I want to play sound through the speakers and have Skype in the headphones as I can't select the headphones in the skype options because they aren't actually the headphones they are the speakers. Do you think this is something to do with soundcard, or does VIA not support two audio devices at once? or is there a work around so I can have both at once? I want to be able to seamlessly go between the two so whenever I want to watch netflix I can default the speakers and whenever I'm doing anything else I can default to the headphones. (I hope this made sense) Thanks!
  5. I've built a computer from old parts and some new parts. The usb 2.0 front panel connectors on the motherboard don't match that of the actual front panel wire for the power button and usbs. I was wondering, would I need to get a new chassis or motherboard? The motherboard is a socket 1150 micro ATX.
  6. Oh, I already have the GPU, I'm waiting on the PC to come. I was just wondering if it would have fit as I the GPU lying around and thought I may as well put it in. Thanks for the answers, I guess it won't fit. I'm not to bothered about buying a new GPU. Cheers!
  7. Hey, I was wondering if an ATI HD Radeon 6670 DDR3 2gb would fit into an SFF PC? The specific PC is HP EliteDesk 800 Small Form Factor. Thanks.
  8. I've recently bought a pair of headphones and currently have very little left to spend on speakers My general purpose for the speakers is because my monitors don't have speakers themselves and I would like to watch movies in bed without having headphones on, My budget is very low. Anything below £25 would be good. I'm just looking for a pair that aren't spectacular, but are just durable and mediocre. I also don't mind if they're USB or audio jack. cheers!
  9. Ah, okay, I did read about the RM series and I heard the cables aren't very good as well as it buzzing after a few months of usage. That seasonic PSU looks good, will add it to my list and see what other people suggest Really? That makes it a lot better. I think the 7800 series recommends 500w+ though.
  10. I'm replacing my PSU as it's currently faulty. I'm wondering if a 650w would be sufficient enough for this? I've been told from my friend I should get 750w... but I honestly don't think I need it. current spec: cpu: intel i5 - 2310 - 3ghz gpu: vtx3d amd hd radeon 7870 tahiti LE hdd: 1x 7200 rpm mobo: socket 1155 ram: 2x ddr3 1333mhz 4GB (I don't plan on upgrading in the future from this spec so future proofing is nil) I was thinking of the corsair RM650 80plus gold fully modular PSU as It's currently in my price range of around 60-80£ http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FG9FTDI/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1NPTRHQ6RWFV4T2T059E&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455344027&pf_rd_i=468294 I'm in the UK, so if you have any suggestions then they uk retailers would be good thanks!
  11. The cooler master quickfire ones look pretty good and around my price range. How good is the storm quickfire XT? For the G710+ and K70, those seem to be retailing for quite a lot, about 30-50£ over my budget. I guess the UK layout makes them more expensive.
  12. I'm not to familiar with mechanical keyboards but I think I defiantly want to get one to improve upon my gaming experience. I'm looking for a good mechanic keyboard that is responsive in gaming for games that require a lot of key pressing at once (WoW, LoL, etc). I'm not to bothered about anything else such as how loud they are. My price range is around £60-70 (90-110$). cheers!
  13. I changed some of the cables around and it seems to be fine now. Hmm...
  14. I get this error constantly - "Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit" I'm not sure what's happening but my PSU is relatively new (About a year and a half old) as well as my ASUS motherboard being a few months old as well. I know my PSU can handle my GPU as I have well over what it needs. I have a thermaltake bronze 80PLUS 750 watt PSU and the motherboard is an ASUS Intel H61 chipset with socket 1155 and the GPU is an AMD HD Radeon 7870. Should I disable the anti-surge protection or is there a possibility something is wrong (Don't want my mobo to fry) ? cheers!
  15. I would like quite a good bit of bass in my headphones as the music I listen to is very bass heavy. Sennheisers HD558 do look pretty good but what is the sound quality like? I'm defiantly considering the ATH-M50x, they will probably be what I will buy!
  16. Never looked at the M50x version and they do look a lot more comfortable for long usage compared to the M50s. Will put them on my list of possible buys.
  17. I don't travel with headphones, so they will be pretty much for home usage only.
  18. I'm looking for good headphones for all around use that are comfortable for long usage as my current pair hurt after so long of wearing. I've been looking at the ATH-M50s as well as the 80 ohm beyerdynamics DT 770 as they are all around the price range I'm looking at (Below £140) and I've done a bit of research and they both seem to be really good pair of headphones. I also have a cheap microphone I bought a while ago, so I already have a mic. I mainly use my headphones for voice chat, listening to music and gaming. I do prefer if the sound was really good for music as I do enjoy good sounding music. What out of the two would you recommended or do you recommended a different pair that might better fit my usage?
  19. Like most people said, LoL -> Dota 2 -> SC2 -> Counter Strike -> Other games. I don't think battlefield has that much of an esports scene though and wow arena is probably more popular than battlefield in esports. I don't watch esports or sports regularly, I only usually tune in to the final such as the League of Legends final and dota 2 final.
  20. I don't have any VPNs installed on my laptop and I can't download any as whenever I try download something It doesn't start or gives me an error. This is also not at peak times either, I've tried it at 2 in the morning as well as around 8 in the morning and the connection still had the same problems...
  21. I'm having some weird internet problems and It's starting to frustrate me. It only started a few days ago, but I've been trying to find a fix but the problem seems to bizarre I can't find it anywhere! My internet seems to be running fine, It's working on other devices other than my laptop. I've got the connection plugged in with an ethernet cable to my modem. I'm getting the normal speed I get on speedtest (15mbps download speed and 1mbps upload) or speedtest times out? Loading webpages such as Facebook load fast and the usual speed I get but when trying to stream data such as on youtube or twitch.tv, It takes ages to load at even at 420p or the twitch stream takes 30 secnds to load but buffers every 10 secs or so. When I also try to download something, It doesn't start or work at all. Now whenever I try to unplug and replug the ethernet, my internet will NOT reconnect and my laptop requires a restart for it to connect but with the same problems above. This also is the case when restarting my modem as well when trying to switch to a wireless connection. My ISP is Sky Cheers!
  22. I've never had problems with any of them before I put the new mobo and GPU. So I'm guessing either the motherboard (Which is brand new) is either faulty or I maybe broke something when I put it in - since I did have some problems putting the CPU in. I'm not 100% sure how to troubeshoot them but I could sacrifice a lamb to the PC gods.
