  1. Sorry for my ignorance, but isn't the x16 slot on the motherboard is in fact pcie gen 3? What do you mean that the chipset only supports gen 2?
  2. Hi everyone, I'm currently shopping for a new boot drive, and was debating if it's worth getting nvme (since it the same price for the same capacity) to enjoy the better latency and hardware. I was wondering which nvme standard does my GIGABYTE Z97-D3H-CF support? On gigabyte's page it's described as And under the product description I can't seem to find any information about how many pcie lanes does this m.2 use. Is it pcie gen 3 x2 or gen 2 x4? Thanks for all the help!
  3. Hi everyone, After deliding the CPU and reapplying terminal paste the temperatures dropped and stabilized over all cores. Thanks for the help!
  4. I did remount the cooler from scratch and reseated the CPU and the issue persists. I also tried to swap the CPU fan to the other side to blow air into the cooler fins. However, one more thing I figured out that only cores 0 & 1 go to 100deg while Core 2 stays under 90deg and Core 3 under 80 deg. How can I further diagnose the issue?
  5. I believe the CPU itself is fine since it was working correctly in my friends machine just a while back
  6. I will try to check bios fan curves now. CPU fan curve is set to normal. The cpu fan speed is around 1300 rpm Do you mean the mount of the cooler on the cpu socket or the backplate of the cooler on the motherboard? I havn't tried to reseat it but it did check the all screws are tightened. I might have mounted the rear one in the wrong direction. Currently I have mounted the CPU fan to blow air in the opposite direction of the fins (pull), and the rear to blow air to the outside of the case (push). Should the CPU fan blow air into the fins or opposite of them? I can't mount the fan on the ram side because of clearance issues.
  7. Hi everyone, First time building a computer that I disassembled from a friend (which was working fine) and currently facing an issue with my CPU instantly throttling whenever I run a stress test. My idle temperature is around 25 degrees, and when I run Prime95 with "small FFTs" config the temperature instantly jumps to around 90-100deg and the CPU thermal throttles. Here are the relevant WHinfo graphs (with complete CSV file attached): My specs are: CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K CPU cooler: DARK ROCK 4 with arctic MX4 thermal paste Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z97-D3H-CF, F9 Bios (latest) RAM: 32GB (8gb*4) GSkill F3-2133C10-8GSR, running @ 2133 MHz xmp profile 1 PSU: Thermaltake smart 700W GPU: ASUS RTX 2070 SUPER EVO OC SSD: 256GB apotop ssd s3c HDD: 2TB Toshiba DT01ACA200 OS: Windows 10 x64 22H2 19045.2546 I have used my old cooler master MASTERGEL thermal paste and reapplied it twice and bought new MX-4 and reapplied it again in a X pattern - and the issue persisted with all installations. Here is a picture of the cooler installation: What is the cause of the issue? How can I further diagnose it? Thanks in advance for any help!
  8. Hi and thanks for the reply! I did have some ram issues before the errors started showing up. On one instance I have to reseat the ram multiple times in different configurations until the computer POSTed fine. However I was able to boot fine with either of the sticks separately. Do you think this could be hardware related even though memtest86 finished without any errors? I forgot to add that I did a full scan of Malwarebytes and the results came out fine. I do recognize the path you mentioned from a game I played. Can you guess which software might be causing the issue? Do you think a clean install of windows 10 might help? Again thank you for your help!
  9. Hey everyone, Recently my computer started to experience issues. The computer starts to freeze for a couple of seconds, then it goes to a fully frozen state and afterwards it's BSODing. The issues aren't related to any specific activity - it even happens when not actively using the computer. The issues started occurring rather randomly two weeks ago, I didn't change any hardware. Here are the tests I have ran Memtest86 Made sure temps are OK (40° idle/around 80° during load - both CPU and GPU) Clean GPU drivers install Dumps & Perf logs Sysnative BSOD Dump: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SQhrleXwZZtdRTaJxtJNgqD6B4hn5Ozr/view?usp=sharing Perf logs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oocEWGZJtqly5tBFMekOF4ugxlGWIFE3/view?usp=sharing System info OS: Windows 10 x64 bit, version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1288). 10. I will run the tests, but I am trying to refine from reinstalling Windows. Any more options?
  11. Hey, I have installed the driver but the issue persists.
  12. Hi everyone, Recently, a very annoying issue started occurring to me. My PC started to freeze completely for a couple of seconds(5-10) every couple of hours (2-8 times a day, but can happen multiple times during a short period). Doesn't seem to occur when I'm doing a specific activity - happened to me while browsing the web, gaming and more. However the issue is more frequent when gaming (Currently I'm playing insurgency sandstorm) - during a hour of gameplay it occurred 4-5 times. I have inspected the event viewer and found a event which is printed every time my computer freezes . Troubleshooting steps I have already tried: I have tried reinstalling the device driver through device manager. Verified all windows updates are installed Verified latest bios is installed Tried to use only 1 stick of ram at a time Running iperf test between the computer and a Raspberry PI within the same LAN. I made sure the temps are OK (40° idle/around 80° during load - both CPU and GPU) Bellow are my system specs: OS: Windows 10 x64 bit, version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1052). Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H77M-D3H (rev. 1.0) BIOS version F14 CPU: Intel i5-3450 @ 3.10GH (stock) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (stock) RAM: 12GB DDR3 CORSAIR 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (CMV4GX3M1A1333C9) Kingston 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (99U5471-040.A00LF) DISKS: Samsung SSD 850 evo 250GB (boot drive): Rapid mode enabled through Samsung magician WD Caviar blue 500GB 7200 RPM storage drive (WD5000AAKX-001CA0) PSU: Seasonic ssp-550rt (550w 80+ Gold) Thanks for any help and looking forward for your replies
  13. Hey everyone, I have been having a weird issue for a while now, which is becoming really annoying. I put my PC to sleep when i'm away for a long periods of time (hour+), either manually (start button -> sleep) or automaticly as configured in Windows. Sometimes when wake my computer especially after it's been a while - like overnight, the computer turns on (LEDs light up and fan start to spin) but I don't get any output on my display. My mouse and keyboard also don't get any power (lights turned off). The computer doesn't response to reboot button or short press of power button and I have to kill it forcefully (long press the power button) but afterwards if I turn the computer on it boots into the same state before going to sleep (all programs open, everything is preserved). Sometimes, after rebooting the computer I can see the old BIOS version logo and the computer is stuck before POST with short beeps with long pauses. I have to remove the GPU and reboot the computer which now boots with the new BIOS version logo, and afterwards I can return the GPU and boot fine. My Motherboard has duel BIOS so when the main BIOS is corrupted it's booting it's backup BIOS which isn't compatible with my GPU, hence the POST failure. Does anyone know why the computer doesn't resume from sleep gracefully? Or why the BIOS is getting corrupted? System Information OS: Windows 10 x64 bit, version 1909 (OS Build 18363.752) - was happening also on older versions of windows.
