  1. Changed motherboard to MSI X299 SLI PLUS, and got the same error
  2. Seems so. I've found this on socket after dissasembling. May be this is the cause of the problem? I've got another X299 motherboard from MSI (MSI X299 SLI PLUS) I'll to move my build to MSI MB an rerun tests.
  3. Ryzen stable at 3200MHz (D.O.C.P 3200) and passing all the tests with no errors as for Corsair Kit. I haven't tried Samsung ones on Ryzen yet.
  4. As for Corsair kit I‘ve enabled xmp that automaticaly set 3866 and all the timings and voltages for me and when I change frequency to 3200 and voltage to 1.2V I just changed appropriate settings without dissabling XMP. As for Samsung RAM it was at defaults 2400 by SPD with no XMP enabled
  5. Greetings! Here is my initial build Core i9 7900X at stock + DeepCool Captain 360EX AIO Cooling ASUS Rampage VI Extreme - BIOS Default settings - no overclock 16GB of Kingston HyperX DDR4 memory (2x8GB) at 2400MHz HX424C15FB2/8 GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 1x Intel Optane 900P 480GB 1x Samsung 850 Pro 256GB 2x WD Black 1Tb 2x WD 640BG PSU Corsair HX1200i No so long ago I've decided to add more RAM and bought Corsair RAM Kit 8x4GB (VENGEANCE LPX) CMK32GX4M$B3866C18R. After installing new memory and activating XMP 3866 profile I run benchmarks such as MemTestPro, LinX and OCCT. OCCT as soon as 90% of ram was loaded printed an error Stopped Error Detected. Then MemTestPro also found memory errors. I turn down memory voltages from 1.35 to 1.2 and frequency to 3200. OCCT continue to show an error as soon as memory allocation completed but there is no more errors in MemTestPro. First of all I thought that the RAM kit was faulty and bought another four memory modules from Samsung (M378A1K43BB2-CRC DDR4 2400MHz) and situation was the same. Same unknown error in OCCT and no errors in MemTestPro. So I've decited to try all this memory in another PC (Ryzen 7 1700X, CROSSHAIR VI HERO) and they all worked perfectly fine, passing OCCT and all tests. Also I've tried to test system with only two memory modules inserted and they worked perfectly fine too. Seems like on the Rampage VI Extreme four modules (QuadChannel mode) configuration causing errors in OCCT regardless on any memory I use. Is there any way to get more information about an error in OCCT or other way to find out the root cause of this issue? P.S Temps while in OCCT 74-82C CPU, 68C VRM Attachments contains result of OCCT test run
  6. Greetings! A couple days ago I've desided to renew my existing laptop. I've got two options to chose from and I need to keep only one of them Options 1. Macbook Pro 15 (2017) 512SSD 2. SurfaceBook 2 13 8Gb RAM, 256 SSD The main profile of usage as it said in the title is developing but there is few other areas of my concern, so I've made a small list, sorted in order of my priorites Priorites list 1. Development (Visual Studio 2017, SQL Server, JS Development in VisualStudio Code, Cross Platform dotnet in Rider, Docker Containerization, Virutal Machines - VM Ware, VirtualBox) 2. 3D Modeling (Blender, 3DS Max) 3. CAD (Autodesk etc) 5. Office stuff (Word,Excel,Powerpoint) 6. Browsing through tons of tabs (Stackoverflow etc) 7. Video Editing / Rendering (Small tutorial videos etc) 8. Gaming (old games like Alpa Centauri, Master of Orion 2, Batllefield 1 (min settings is ok ), for modern heavy titles I've got a standalone PC) As from battery life perspective it would be nice to have up to 3 hours of heavy load, and 5-7 of moderate usage like browsing web, movies, word, excel This is not a "what to buy" question because I've already have these devices at home. Just need to choose one of them, the other one I have to return. Which device is best for my usecases? P.S. I've also made some benchmarks of both devices and get some strange SSD speed results for Surface Book 2. I've investigated further and it looks like that all 256GB models have the same write speed, so in case of my priorities will it be enouth for heavy workloads?
  7. Greetings! I've got a platform for developing based on Core i9 7900X paired with MSI x299 SLI PLUS. I'm thinking about extending storage with multiple M2 NVME SSDs (Samsung 960 Pro, possibly in RAID). As I've heard all M2 on X299 are connected to PCH which is connected to CPU through DMI 3.0 that is approximately equals to 4 PCI Lanes. So my question is if I will be doing heavy data moving, for exaple copyng large ammount of data back and forth through 10Gbit LAN etc, will DMI 3.0 and its 4 PCI Lanes be a bottleneck?
  8. Just found some postы about current situation with IOMMU on Ryzen not so long ago. It seems that Virtualization is not the strongest part of Ryzen at least for now
  9. It seems to me as the most reasonable from all VMs and also available in Linux and Windows
  10. Pink screens of death. Issues with virtualization old OSs like Windows XP and old software for WinXP (speaking about Virtual Box and VMWare Workstation)
  11. I've heard a lot of complains about virtualization on Ryzen platfom Yep. Everything works fine
  12. I'm thinking of moving from my current platform based on I7 4930k to AMD Ryzen 1700X Current config is 4930k at stock frequencies 16GB DDR3 1866 4x4 GB 1x250Gb SSD Samsung 850 Pro 1x180Gb Intel 520 2x640Gb HDD 2x1Tb HDD Geforce GTX 1060 6Gb Usage profile Software development in Visual Studio, AutoCAD, Blender, 3DS Max, Virtualization (old OSs, Linux, Windows), Gaming (not top priority) Will I get noticeable performance boost or 4930k still capable to handle all tasks?
