  1. I made a post a couple days ago that I Was helped with and moved all of my vms over to hyperv. I rebuilt all of my vms and this includes my steam cache, I got my cache up and running and when I check the logs it looks like I am only getting half the game saved on the hard drive at most. I have no idea why it's not saving as the test game I was using is 5gb and the cache size is 1860gb. I don't know if I need to follow a new guide or go elsewhere to set up my cache. The speed is doing fine, it's around 70mbs for the first 500mb or so then that is all my cache caches.
  2. Would I run into any compatibility issues going from VMware to HyperV?
  3. I am not sure if I can as I have never moved a VM or copied a VM. I am very new to VMs. How would I go about using Hyper-V? If it is default installed on windows then I would rather give that a try first before I start re-imaging things
  4. How would I migrate my VMs if I did so? How does hyperv or proxmox compare to unraid as unraid is the only hardware virtualization program I have used
  5. A Xeon 5630. Would you recommend I move to a better hypervisor like unraid? If so would I be able to copy my VMs to a usb and move them over that way or would I have to rebuild them all?
  6. With all VMs and my minecraft server running I am floating around 9-15% CPU useage.
  7. It is not pulling right now. Nothing I know of would be pulling from that VM as there are only 2 machines that can. I do have other VMs running on that same machine, could those cores be overburdened? If so would I be able to choose certain cores to allot to that machine alone?
  8. It is running in VMware Workstation Pro and is currently up to date with all recent updates. I ran iostat and got this, Linux 5.8.0-48-generic (ubuntu) 04/11/2021 _x86_64_ (4 CPU) avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle 6.45 0.01 2.70 0.41 0.00 90.43 Device tps kB_read/s kB_wrtn/s kB_dscd/s kB_read kB_wrtn kB_dscd loop0 0.00 0.05 0.00 0.00 6934 0 0 loop1 0.01 0.07 0.00 0.00 10193 0 0 loop10 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 347 0 0 loop11 0.00 0.01 0.00 0.00 1103 0 0 loop12 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 18 0 0 loop2 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 347 0 0 loop3 0.00 0.01 0.00 0.00 1091 0 0 loop4 0.01 0.03 0.00 0.00 5090 0 0 loop5 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 133 0 0 loop6 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 226 0 0 loop7 0.01 0.12 0.00 0.00 18412 0 0 loop8 0.00 0.01 0.00 0.00 1090 0 0 loop9 0.01 0.17 0.00 0.00 26367 0 0 sda 3.17 81.57 145.22 0.00 12505334 22263461 0 scd0 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 2 0 0
  9. The OS the VM is running on is Ubuntu 20.04, the host OS is Win10. How would I tell what hypervisor I am running?
  10. The host OS or the VM that the cache is running on?
  11. How would I run that program? I see about 20% useage on 2 to 3 of the cores given to it and the overall cpu package stays around 50degrees and never goes above 50% useage even with other VMs running on it and a game being pulled from the cache. I used crystaldiskmark to check the overall raid 0 speeds for the drives on that VM and it says that their reads are 200mb/s and the write are 175mb/s on average.
  12. I recently set up a steam cache but am running into a speed issue. I have an all gigabit network connection, 2 striped HDDs, and 4 cores given to the VM as well as 3GB of RAM. Nomatter what I do I cant seem to get more than 25mbps from this server which just seems too low. I am not sure I set up the cache completely correctly as I am fairly new to using VMs and caching in general. Any direction is appreciated.
  13. Is there no way at all to turn it completely off? Or any intention to add such a feature?
  14. I was thinking about picking up a rog strix g17 2021 but was concerned over performance loss using nvidea Optimus. I understand that there is a bypass by using the usbc port on the back but I would like to game on the display itself. My question is that if I have the laptop plugged into a dock constantly through that USB c port going to 2 monitors, but I don't display the game on those externals, would Optimus still be bypassed or would I have to display the game on an external monitor?
  15. So correct me if I am wrong but it should work? I am not to familiar with BIOS finagling or prebuilt workstations of any sort.
  16. So you think it would have a good chance of working? Would there be a place I could check to see if the cpu is supported by the BIOS or is that not a thing?
  17. I recently picked up a Z400 for 40 bucks as a cheap server solution. It uses a LGA1366 socket size. So my question is, can I use a X5675 in a Z400. It's not listed as a supported cpu but it is the same socket type. Would this work as a solution and if so what is the strongest xeon cpu in LGA1366 socket type could I use in this machine?
  18. I have a at&t router in passthrough mode going to a netgear router but I dont think that matters as none of them would be in DMZ mode and I've checked.
  19. Is there a way in netgears logs that I can check if my network is being accessed from the wider internet or is that not really a thing? I just updated my firmware and it says that I am getting [DoS attack: FIN Scan] (1) attack packets in last 20 sec from ip [52.230.222.68], Sunday, Apr 12,2020 00:50:44. What does that mean exactly? I assume someone is ddosing my nextcloud server but how do I fix that?
  20. Any idea how to go about fixing whatever the bug is? A simple factory reset and reconfigure or what? I actually just turned the server back on and I immediately got a router soft restart where I lost connection and all the lights shut off then right back on. This happened about 5 minutes after I turned it back on. I checked the logs again and it says my router IP on one port in the high 50k is pinging the port and ip my server is on. What does that mean?
  21. Are you saying that someone is trying to access my server? I thought so but it isn't alot of ports and checking back the last time someone tried to access a port remotely was at 11 and it said "Lan accessed remotely". I find this odd cause the random restarts I was getting were happening around 1 to 2:10ish.
  22. I recently, as of the past 2 weeks, noticed that my router has been losing connection to the internet randomly and I decided to check on my network logs to see what was going on as I do forward a few ports for things like nextcloud and a minecraft server. I am aware of the risks of port forwarding and I checked the logs on my router and found that someone was remotely accessing my nextcloud server from random ports. I don't believe they ever got in but I wanted to ask if it was possible for someone to shut down the network access of my router for a few seconds or someone was ddosing me remotely? I don't know of any attacks that can do what I've been experiencing. For now I've shut down the cloud server and turned off that port on my forwarding and I haven't experienced the issue for about 30 minuted where as I was experiencing it every 5 to 10 minutes.
  23. To specify I'm getting the error "Error while powering on: Unable to find the vmx binary'F:\vmware-vmx.exe'
  24. I've got it copied over and I can't seem to run it still. Do I need to copy over the original iso or is that not needed? Would it be necessary to copy it to the documents folder or can I put it on any drive?
