  1. Hey guys, Was just wondering, I have a SATA m.2 SSD already installed in my laptop (b+m key) and never thought about NVMe SSDs because they have only one key (only b or m I don't remember) and my laptop HP ProBook 440 G3 has notches for both keys, untill recent I got to know about SSDs like Kingston a1000 and WD blue sn500, which are NVMe drives. Will they work in my laptop for boot (even pcie gen 3 x2 is better than SATA), and why isn't every manufacturer making b+m key drives (Samsung makes b+m key SATA but only b key NVMe)? Or should I just not care and get a SATA m.2 SSD with a higher capacity?
  2. Hello everyone, I have a 1 tb Seagate external drive and today suddenly windows stopped recognizing it. The LED light does not come on and it does not show up on windows explorer. The drive does however show up on windows partioning software after 5 mins of loading time but is not initialized and I cannot initialize it (CRC error), and also on HD Sentinel again after 5 mins of loading. HD Sentinel shows the drive on 100% health with no SMART attributes wrong. The drive was a backup drive and thus can be thrown away easily, but I want to know if I can solve the drive problem I should also mention the drive is at least 1.5 years old and was used daily, copying about 2-3 GB data to it. (14.8 TB lifetime write and 7.6 TB lifetime read). Any help would be appreciated....
  3. The Disk is a portable Disk and is solely used to transfer data from my university Library PC to my Laptop and Phone etc, that is why huge amounts of data are written and read off of the disk daily. Also I have a backup disk (Disk 3 in the test) which is used as a backup of the disk (a clone/Mirror image), and data is backed up daily.
  4. Hello, I ran HD Sentinel on my PC, and the results are in the picture. Do I need to Worry with the current state of the hard disk. I used to check before and the state used to be perfect (100%). The HDD is run Everyday, copying at least 2 GB of data everyday and deleting around the same Everyday. That 4.65 TB Lifetime Writes Seem Legit, seeing that the hard disk has been with me for only about 1-1.5 years. Please Advise, also why does not the SMART Value reflect 16 bad errors? Please Advise.
  5. Hey Guys, Just wondering, I have a broadband connection and at least 2 MIFI (mobile Wifi) devices working on 4G data, which I have setup with the same SSIDs and the same passwords. I have never tried switching them on at the same time (as two are basically portable internet), but was wondering what would happen if I would. If anyone has tried this please share.
  6. Hello All, looking for some help here, I have 3 mobiles, a Karbonn sparkle v, a Moto G4, and a lumia 950xl When I play a 720p TV show on all three mobiles, I have noticed the Karbonn sparkle v plays back without fuss, the Moto G4 has very short lag in either video or audio (for a second or so and then it goes away), also there is grey stuttering of video for a short period sometimes, and the lumia plays the video better than the Moto G4 but too has very small issues with video/audio lag. A Laptop with integrated Graphics plays it fine. As the specs go, the videos are played back from an SD card (class 4 on the sparkle v and class 10 on other mobiles) and the videos are played back on VLC (I have tried other players with little to no improvement) Am I doing something wrong, if the sparkle v can play a video, all three mobiles should play it. I have played YouTube 4K rips smoothly on the lumia. Please help.
  7. To answer anyone criticizing my pc/mobile specs, I have a laptop with 16 GB RAM, but then it obviously is not a budget laptop, I run solidworks and catia on it. The reason for me to open this thread was actually a little different, I have a lumia 950xl (3 GB RAM) and a Motorola G4 plus (4 GB RAM) but I noticed that my Motorola works somewhat slow when compared to my lumia, that's why I started this thread.
  8. Just curious, When you buy a mid spec laptop it generally comes with 4-8 gb RAM, which is usually sufficient, but now a days phones have started coming with 6-8 gb RAM, there is even news about one packed with 10 gb, Why is this so ? Do phones need more RAM in general, or are laptops under speced (they do not seem like), and do we actually need 8 gb RAM in phones ?
  9. Hey guys, Will LTT be uploading today (30-jan) ? Yesterday's video was also late, anything specific ?
  10. Seems like, I have been watching only since last 2 years, and WAN Show has never been missed. Honestly its not a very big deal, you missed one in ages. Plus getting 3-4 videos per day was more than a bonus
  11. Alright thanks, will wait for it next friday.
  12. Hey guys, Did the WAN Show happen on 12 jan 2018, or did it not due to LTT was at CES ?
  13. Hey guys, a bit of a different question today, I need help in buying an SD card for my mobile. I checked on Amazon and a SanDISK 200 GB microSD card costs the same as a 64 GB SanDISK Extreme Pro SD card. Which one do I go for ? considering that I have a Lumia 950XL (I love my windows phone, no jokes about it please.) I do already have 32 GB onboard and it uses USB C 3.1 so it can take advantages of the faster write speeds of the Extreme pro (I will be transfering from an SSD). Basically my question is do I spend money on faster write speed or just go the conventional way of getting more capacity ? Also can my mobile record 4K 30fps to the 200 Gb card if I get it ? ps. I also own a Samsung T5 500 GB so maybe I can use it directly for watching large videos etc.
  14. Sorry that I am sounding like a noob but I tried playing it in Windows media player and Movies and TV in windows 10, only sound outputs. The only player I can play video is with VLC, and that too is greyed out, pixelated sometimes. Please tell me how to enable HW decoding or any other method. PS. Other 4K files I downloaded from youtube play just fine, in all players. Is it something with H.265 ?
  15. Hello All, I am in a bit of confusion here. I downloaded a 4K video file from the internet, the full information is as follows : 3840 X 2160 H.265 Total bitrate : 8553 kbps FPS : 23 6 channel audio at 243 kbps the video is 1 hour 11 mins long and is of 4.24 GB Now the thing is the video is playing back smoothly on a library PC (core i5 4590s, Int. Graphics, 4GB RAM, playing from HDD) with Windows 10 built in movies and TV program and with VLC also, but the same video is not playing with Windows 10 built in movies and TV program on my personal laptop (core i5 6200u, int Graphics, 16GB RAM, playing from SSD), only the sound is played. This is not a codec issue as the video plays on my laptop with VLC, but stutters as soon as I do anything on my laptop (click mouse, skip video etc.) Is there something I am missing, because I belive if a low end library PC can play the file, my laptop should kill it, I mean are laptop CPUs so inadequate ?
