  7. I still use my gtx 970 with the cooling fans burned out I set up 3 computer fans powered with a second mother board outside of the rig to cool it surprisingly it works
  8. the amd ryzen 2600x with an msi x470 board along with 4 4 gb Kingston Technology HyperX Fury 2666MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 DIMM 4 DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) HX426C15FB/4 sorry copied that from amazon
  9. so I've been thinking and researching and haven't found a full answer so I'm going to look here. ok so if your gaming is a 4 core CPU or a 6 core going to be faster? I run a duel core and it seems to run fine for the most part so I've been thinking a quad core will be plenty. however I've heard the more cores the slower graphic processing can be in gaming so it seems like adding extra cores is pointless seeing I run a. intel 3.7 ghz duel core currently plan to upgrade to a 3.7 ghz quad core or a 3.6 ghz 6 core both amd options I see amd was heavily trashed a decade ago since Ryzen they've been better I my opinion.
  10. Well I plan on conepletely rebuilding my computer in a few months gunna get the r5 1600x 16 gigs of ddr4 3200 MHz ram and the msi tomahawk board
  11. Ok so I'm running a gtx 970 4 gig i3 4170 duelcore 3.70 ghz processor and 6 gigs of ddr3 1600mhz ram I'm not gunna be able to upgrade my computer for another few months I'm thinking about slapping an 8 gig stick of ram in this just for the reasoning that every time I play ark my computer is severely bottlenecks and crashes would throwing some quick ram in make a huge difference or none at all
  12. imma hotglue carboard around the board so it dosnt move around and put cardboard straps over it its gunna be on youtube aswell for this build only thing I'm buying is the ram for this I got everything else ill put a thermomitor from Walmart iside it to monitor the temps inside idk how ill do it with windows xp to monitor the cpu temps
  13. so i have a small compact build i plan on doing. it contains just a power supply mother board and chip set with a haddrive and an intake and exost fan. I'm doing this is 2005 hardware so I need to use windows xp I'm putting 2 gigs of ddr2 ram in it and reusing the single core cpu. now at this point I'm wondering what kinda case I should use? case what case this is needing to be small and compact so is a cardboard box a useable option? I could put the powercord mouse and keyboard inside the box along with the rgb cable that would hook into the computer inside during transport. now this will be on for a couple hours ive been told imma catch something on fire using this idea. now would I do that? if so I may have to build a wooden container to use. this is a hairbrained idea but I have never seen this done before and wondering if it would be an idea to do.
  14. thanks for the tips I will conciter it do you have a link for a good r5 chip or a recommendation was origionally planning on doing an am3 fx-9590 4.7ghz 8 core processor but heard that wasn't worth it
  15. I was told with my current rig a 500 watt psu was minimum and I'm running trash hardware with a good video card
  16. so I'm going to be turning 18 here and 2 weeks then graduating highschool 3 weeks later. So what am I going to do spend about 800-1500$ building a tank of a gaming computer. the build I'm planning is going to play games in 1080p high settings at 60 fps. Now the problem I'm running into is planning and knowlage on the subject. I already planned on saving some money by keeping my gtx 970 4 gig card that is in my current computer ( its an office computer with a gtx 970 in it had 6 gigs of ddr3 ram and an i3 4170 3.70 ghz duel core socket lga 1150 so no room to upgrade and its intel) Now I'm switching to amd and don't know what to expect. my build plan is 16 gigs of ddr4 ripjaws series, msi tomahawk motherboard and a ryzen 7 chip ( the 3.6 ghz 8 core) now at this point I planned to do water cooling. however I don't know the first thing about how to do a water cooling system and just don't trust myself doing it. thermal paste is the diamond stuff I forget the name of it currently but have it bookmarked and saved on my computer. at this point I'm going with my old hard drive because downloading games from steam on a 3mbps connection is pure agony but I do plan on putting my os (wqindows 10) on a 120 gig ssd. now at this point I'm going with a new case because I don't have one that'll fit any of this stuff so I decided to go with the Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower along with 6 120 mm fans (3 intake and 3 exost) then a hub for a 3/4 pin fan hub ( thanks linus for showing those things off i have been taking notes) then I was planning on getting an 850 watt power supply I will put the links of what I plan on getting below now anyone who has a backround in computer building if theres any flaws in any of this please tell me and give me tips along the way https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233&nm_mc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC-_-pla-_-Cases+(Computer+Cases+-+ATX+Form)-_-Cooler+Master-_-11119233&gclid=CIHg2a6ntdMCFVOpNwod0qsFVA&gclsrc=ds http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-B350-TOMAHAWK-AM4-AMD-B350-SATA-6Gb-s-USB-3-1-HDMI-ATX-Motherboard-/122451511667?hash=item1c82adc973:g:GV0AAOSwvihY9Uc4 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820232157 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113430&nm_mc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC-_-pla-_-Processors+-+Desktops-_-AMD-_-19113430&gclid=CIDuv4KrrdMCFR0pNwodE5kEGA&gclsrc=ds http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quiet-850-Watt-850W-for-Intel-AMD-PC-ATX-Power-Supply-SLI-PCI-E-120MM-Fan-New/261202105784?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D2220072%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3D6164c5c140b74ae7b48fd0a2275c9533%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D351701253594 https://www.amazon.com/4-Pin-Splitter-computer-Power-Connector/dp/B01N20EB18/ref=sr_1_22?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492769959&sr=1-22&keywords=computer+fan+hub https://www.amazon.com/Innovation-Cooling-Diamond-Carat-Compound/dp/B0042IEVD8/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492770066&sr=1-2&keywords=diamond+thermal+paste+for+computer https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Sleeve-Computer-Cooling-ROCF-13001/dp/B00KB8CB9O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492770118&sr=1-1&keywords=120%2Bmm%2Bcomputer%2Bfans&th=1 (these I plan on putting 2 red led ones in the middle) https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-120GB-SDSSDA-120G-G26-Newest-Version/dp/B01F9G414U/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492770204&sr=1-1&keywords=120+gig+ssd
