  1. Thanks for the reply! I don't want to try anything with my drives because I already have a lot stored, and I gave my old pc to a friend, but I'll try unplugging and PC Doctor. If it comes down to it, I'll buy new ram, hopefully not a new motherboard. Though since I'm running out of storage anyways, if I get a new drive I could transfer what's important, then try wiping the old ones. The computer doesn't turn back on after shutting off. Big thanks for all of the suggestions!
  2. I need help with a PC that I built in July last year that's been powering off every so often. I have no idea what's wrong with it, and I've tried a lot of things. The most recent thing I tried was getting a new PSU, but it still shuts down. I also tried deleting previous instances of Windows on old drives. I've tried updating drivers, and made sure my GPU or CPU wasn't ever overheating whenever I did something, but it still shuts down. There's no blue screen or Shutting Down screen, it just turns off. After trying the solution I thought would work the best, the new PSU, I'm at a loss for what I should do. I really don't want to buy any more parts to try to fix this, but I'll still list off some things that might be a problem, I just don't have any proof. While I'm running a 5600x, I'm still using my old pc's 4 sticks of 2400 16gb ram. No idea if that has anything to do with shutting down, but it's still one issue with my PC. I'm using an old corsair AIO that still uses the corsair link software, while running new corsair fans that use icue. Still don't think this is the problem but lmk if otherwise. I have two drives from a previous build that I put in here that used to have windows. I did wipe the windows files, but the files still show, and there are other duplicate programs that I'm sure I missed. My PC is plugged in with other devices on a surge protector. There are a couple of times where I can tell there was a reason it shut down, though event viewer doesn't say anything. It shut down twice when I loaded a save file in the game Humankind. It shut down once when I changed my Minecraft graphics to fabulous. I have an RX 580. Other than those times, it seemingly shuts down at random, sometimes even at idle. Thanks for reading! If you'd like more information, please ask
  3. I was in the radon software and decided to give eyefinity a try to see what it does. There are 3 things it did: it rescaled my desktop icons for some reason; it made my 2nd monitor undetectable to windows 10; and it has crashed my pc 3 times due to atillk64.sys failing according to the blue screen. The 2nd monitor does work and is still detected by my mobo bios. My graphics card is a gigabyte rx580 8g. Please and thank you for any help as to how to fix this.
  4. I want to get faster ram for my 1st gen ryzen build, but I've heard that ryzen has bad ram compatibility, and especially msi boards. Could I run ram at 3000 or higher and would that need a bios update?
  5. I have a r5 1500x, so, that's not going to work.
  6. I recently got a Gigabyte Aorus RX580 8gb, and it's been running fairly hot at idle, around 60C. Then, I noticed in MSI Afterburner that it's running at 100% GPU usage, despite the fact that I'm not running any games, just chrome. Reviews for the card had said it ran hot and the fans were loud, but I didn't think that it would be like this. Why do you think this is happening?
  7. I've been thinking about it, and how much longer will it be until 4gb is unbearable or just not supported? I am concerned about futureproofing my pc, but there are other issues. First of all, 570s and 470s are still too expensive because of mining, and the 2 cards I found were exceptions. 580 8gb are alright for price, but people in reviews complain about the 4gb version getting extremely hot, so I'm worried about what would happen if I got the 8gb. I live in Southern California, so it would be a big problem is it was too much to cool.
  8. It's not related to prime day, as far as I can tell, but an evga 1060 and a gigabyte 580 on amazon are close to the original msrp. The 1060 is $179, and the 580 is $209, which is just slightly over. I just want to know which would be better for me to get. I'm considering the 1060 for it being cheaper, and the fact that the sale ends in one day, but supposedly the 1160 should be coming soon, and I don't know if I should wait. I'm considering the 580 because it's much more recent, more ram, freesync and an overall higher score on User Benchmark. I'm not sure about when the sale for the 580 will end, and it's $30 more than the 1060. If it's important, I have a r5 1500x. https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-03G-P4-6160-KR/dp/B01KUADE3O/ref=sr_1_21?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1531780120&sr=1-21&keywords=gtx&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Gaming-Graphic-GV-RX580GAMING-4GD/dp/B06Y44TWF3/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1531786703&sr=1-2&keywords=rx+580&dpID=41YL0O15IFL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
  9. Its probably windows at this point I wasn't able to reinstall. It told me to restart the system and unplug and replug the usb drive, but restarting always brings me to the auto repair screen, and custom said that the drive wasn't formatted correctly. At this point I don't care if I lose data, I just want a working pc...
  10. Okay, it just brought me back to the auto repair blue screen, didnt work.
  11. I'll try it, but what will I do when I get into safe mode?
  12. It didn't give me this screen, it brought me straight to the blue screen I shared that said Automatic Repair What is that?
  13. I regret to say this, but I did not create a backup... What is the stop code? All options on the blue screen, including reset, either restart the pc and don't do anything, or say it couldn't work. It would just restart and bring me back to the same blue screen.
  14. When i turn my pc on, it says itll start auto repair, then bring me to a blue screen saying it failed. Every option in troubleshoot either restarts my pc and doesnt work, or just says it didnt work. The day before this happened, i had just bought a windows 10 home key to activate my pc from kinguin if that says anything. Thank you very much!
