  1. First image looks to be asking for Disk 1 Password. Drive security password set in BIOS?
  2. Thanks all. Very helpful. Ubiquiti line seems like the favourite although I will look out for some Aruba IAP stuff thanks SEM. On the ubiquiti the Lite vs Pro is it really worth the £50 more? Thanks again
  3. I've recently deployed a pfsense router using my virgin media superhub 5 in modem only mode. As such I now need a new solution for WiFi. I had a plan to re purpose a Draytek AP 800 from work that we don't need anymore but I've just noticed that this doesn't actually support 5GHz natively. I will only need 1 for now as the flat isn't that big and I will mount centrally (also needs to have PoE) but perhaps having something that will work well with multiple APs in the future for when we move to a large house. Price wise I don't have a huge budget but good to spend more and buy once... Oh and it needs to be white to keep the wife happy! Thanks in advance.
  4. Been meaning to post this for far too long! Hardware CASE: MS-Tech CA-0210 rev. b PSU: Corsair VS450 MB: Foxconn H55M-S CPU: Core i7 870 HS: Stock intel heatsink RAM: 16GB DDR3 1333 SSD: Sandisk Ultra 120GB HDD 1: 6x 4TB WD Red HDD 2: 2x 1TB Toshiba (something something) As the MB only has 6 SATA ports I have a Syba 4 Port PCIe SATA Card. There are also some Gb NICs in there as at some point I will running a PFsence VM. Following a CPU upgrade I also now have to run a graphics card as the 870 doesn't have video. This is annoying as there is no monitor connected to it but it won't post without. Any tips on getting round that would be great! Software and Configuration: Server runs WD2012 R2. the 4TB reds are in a parity configuration controlled by storage spaces. This is used for the main storage. The 2 1TB drives are in a RAID 1 setup and is used as a scratch disk as well as the home for the Hyper-V vdisks. I run 3 VMs. 2 for plex servers 1 for various news-groups utilities and 1 PFsense router. Usage: Server is used for plex TV shows/Films as well as family music and picture libraries and as a NAS. Backup: I've gone through various options with this. At the moment I use a cloud service data deposit box Photo's:
  5. Yep sounds like you went too cheap on the power supply
  6. We have a winner: H55M-S Fix use 16G memory install OS will BULE screen issue,Add AHCI function, and fix HDD size show error A21F1P04 3.22MB 4/20/2011 Thank you raphidy I had forgotten it wasn't on the most recent. I have a feeling however that I tried to update it before and I couldn't make it work. Will try again and let you know how I get on.
  7. Tell me about it! :-( Claims to yes: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000500
  8. Any 4th DIMM All the DIMMS work fine on their own or in combination up to 3 at a time. Put a 4th DIMM in and it will blue screen
  9. Thank you both for your replies. I have done as you say. All slots seem to be OK and any combination of 3 DIMMs and 3 slots works fine. Adding a 4th DIMM in any slot causes the same issue. I should add that the RAM has come out of a working machine where all 4 were installed for 16GB of RAM. Any ideas? Thanks
  10. Hi I wanted to upgrade the RAM on the PC I run as a home nas/plex server as I also run some vms. I was running 8GB with 4 2GB sticks working fine. (So I know all the slots work) I've picked up 4 crucial 4GB DDR3 - 1333 (PC3 10600) DIMMS. When I install all 4 all 16GB are picked up in the BIOS, Windows goes to boot but then I get an error message saying; Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. If you'd like to know more, you can search online later for this error: ACPI BIOS ERROR 12GB (ie 3 DIMMS) will run fine but that 4th DIMM always causes the same issue. PC is a: Foxconn H55M-S Intel i3 540 It is running at the moment with 12GB but since I have the 4th DIMM and the slot for it I would quite like to get it running with 16GB. If any one is able to suggest anything I would be very grateful. Thank you
  11. So again PP is a massive bit of software so it all depends on how many of its features you will be using at once. If you are going to by running a HD projector and then have a HD video background with text on top and then want the transition on top to be completely fluid then maybe the i3 will run out of horses? but perhaps not. My opinion would be that if the OP usage means that they are able to run pro presenter on such low end hardware then perhaps they should look at if they actually need something as high end in terms of software as PP. There are lots of cheaper (alot! and some free) alternatives. We were using OpenLP before moving to PP6 which is open source and I would highly recommend.
  12. The CPU is below the minimum requirements for PP6 although that probably isn't the biggest issue is the requirement is to be able to use all of the features which I doubt you will? we are using an AMD 3 core and it works fine. Bigger issue however is that you will need a graphics card on board will not cut it. We bought a 7850 on ebay for my church and it works well
  13. Hi Peej Thanks very much Yes 24/7 operation. Going semi modular is rather tempting....
  14. Hello I am looking for some advise on a replacement power supply for my NAS PC. The PSU has died (very smelly!) and assuming (and hoping) it hasn't killed anything else in the machine I need to replace it. It was rather old so perhaps it was just that but I wanted to check before I bought a replacement if there is any good practice for buying a PSU which will be powering a number of drives. (12+) I should probably give some more information. I think the old was was a 500W PSU. The machine is an i3 with 4GB of RAM running WS 2012 R2 sole purpose it as a Plex Media Server. It has 7 (i think) internal 3.5" drives (will be adding more) and 3 USB external drives (Until I can afford more internal) Thanks
