  1. Okay I got past the access denied issue using a win 10 install ISO I had laying around. For some reason the recovery usb didn't have permission. the boot files were installed, but now I get error code 0xc0000001 upon booting into win 10.
  2. Okay no program error message,so I guess it can see the bootrec executable now, but now it says "access is denied" when running bootrec /fixboot on the EFI boot drive under \EFI\Microsoft\Boot Tried googling the access denied issue, but there is so much misinformation and other crap floating around out there hard to make sense of it all. Almost seems like no one knows what actually causes the access denied issue. It seems as if everyone just gives up at this point and just re-installs windows. that or reformat the EFI volume, which I might try.
  3. Ahh okay I was on Windows 7 on a different drive. I'll have to try that.
  4. Hello all. So last night my windows 10 install decided to break its boot config all by itself, which I believed happened during disk check after adding a new drive. I have found instructions from easeus that show how to manually repair boot config, GPT boot repair guide. I managed to assign the EFI volume a drive letter and navigate to the Boot folder. I am now trying to run the bootrec /fixboot command, but it tells me " 'bootrec' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Any thoughts or suggestions?
  5. I should try using the stock cooler. I guess the reason I haven't yet is because I've have kept telling myself that the problem with the overheating is an error on my part and I just need to install the cooler properly. Although after many a trial and error, I'm beginning to think otherwise. It wasn't a big issue over winter, but now I don't have a choice.
  6. I think anything will work better than my current setup. I would never run the 212 Evo as my permanent cooler, but it would be good to fill the void between my RMA time. I know I said I was considering air cooling, but I really don't want to go back to air after seeing how nice water can be.
  7. Yeah I've been fearing it's an internal problem. Can the H100i radiator be re-used with an aftermarket cooling kit. I've been thinking about trying out a custom loop. Never done one before. Have been looking at some EKWB stuff.
  8. Yeah I believe the H100i has a 5 year warranty, so I might try to RMA it. Although this problem has really got me considering air cooling now. I'm amazed at the temps people get using the higher end Noctua's.
  9. Are you referring to the jack on the board that you plug the H100i into? The power is from a SATA connection and then has a tiny 2 wire plug that branches off the SATA wire and plugs into the mobo.
  10. Hi there folks. I have a 4790k on an ASUS Maximus VII Hero mobo with the Corsair H100i all in one liquid cooler. The CPU is clocked to 4.4Ghz using 1.26V. I have the SP fans that came with the H100i kit sucking air from outside the case and pushing it through the radiator. My pump speed is 2147 RPMs, and the H100i temp is 45°C at idle. This problem has been ongoing for some time but with the cold winter air It wasn't too bad. Now that it's getting warm I'm starting to have problems with the CPU temps. I was just hitting 90°C when trying to play battlefield 1 and had to quit the game immediately. The CPU temp hovers around 55°C at idle. My room is 72°F. The cooler is 3 years old. I used to use a 4770k with this H100i and had no problems. Could the cooler be at fault, is 3 years too long to use it? I have tried re-seating the waterblock 4 times now, and have the same results every time. I checked the backplate and it seems to be mounted correctly. I am using artic silver 5 with the rice method, and tighten down using the X pattern until finger tight, and then 1 more rotation with the screwdriver. I am about at my wits end here and I am considering buying a Noctua air cooler or a new H100i, because I've tried everything I know to do. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of a step that I am missing?
