  1. So, I just sat through the update screens, computer started up again completed the updates. I checked the version number and 1703 AGAIN?? I checked the update history and it says under Feature updato to Windows 10 1709 "Failed to install on 2017-11-17". Damn it Windows
  2. Ok so I went to Windows update and it says it requires a restart to finish 2 updates. "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709" and 2017-11 Cumulative Update for 1703.
  3. On my puny 128GB SSD, windows takes up 35.1% of it lol. Before the update I hovered consistently around 48GB. There's also a 2.4GB pagefile.sys . I don't know if i should delete it, i have 16GB of RAM.
  4. I am on Windows 10 Home 1703. I just used WinDirStat and it reports that the Windows directory is 27.9GB. My laptop which is also running Windows 10 home 1703 has only 18.1GB in Windows directory
  5. Yea, the second pic is after I cleaned the temporary install files. I also went to system restore options and it's already disabled, it says current usage:0 bytes
  6. Yeah, last week it downloaded a huge update on its own and installed it. I deleted the files in disk cleanup a week ago and it only have me back 8 gb. I haven't been home for a week, so when I turned on my PC today, I checked my disk space and it went back to 25gb again, I used disk cleanup again, it gave me back 8gb again...
  7. So my ssd was already running low on capacity, and all of a sudden 20 gigs disappeared after a windows update. I checked disk properties and saw my disk had gone down to 26 gigs free. I used disk cleanup, selected everything in the list and it proceeded to delete stuff. Then when I checked back, i only got around 8 gigs back, but windows says there's only 450mb left of windows temp installation files. I've already gone to both temp folders (in windows directory and appdata/local and neither folder exceeded 200mb. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there anywhere else I can go to manually delete the windows files, because I don't think they were deleted properly
  8. It was a repair I think. Definitely not clean install. But I was able to keep all of my programs.
  9. I got 16 gigs ddr4 so I got plenty of room. I reinstalled windows today with the bootable usb so that I dont lose all my stuff, same thing happens.
  10. I installed windows maybe 2.5 years ago. At the time the HDD was definitely not plugged in yet. And then I got the windows 10 upgrade when it was released, and the HDD was definitely plugged in then. But I never encountered this situation until recently when the HDD got corrupted and I took it out of my PC.
  11. So,long story short, I had a USB HDD in my system that got corrupted one morning so I removed it and its now in someone else's hands getting recovered. I'm still running windows 10 off the SSD. Whenever i click a photo of any type, it should open in windows photo viewer. But for some reason it says "Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture blah blah blah" and it does this on every picture. But when I go into slideshow mode, the pictures shows normally. Then I tried opening my DAW for recording music, Reaper. The UI had big white squares in some areas, and didn't look normal at all. Now the weird thing happens. I plugged in a USB thumb drive into my pc and it read it as drive E: which is the same letter name as the one that got corrupted. I opened the pictures again, and all worked normally. Opened reaper, normal too!! I unplugged the thumb drive, and both went back to their problems. How the heck can the lack of a drive do this?
  12. I have the windows 8 disc for this pc which i upgraded to win10 during the free upgrade period. That same key should work right?
