  1. According to Robert Hallock (Technical Marketing lead for AMD consumer processors) post: "AMD has no plans to introduce “Zen 3” architecture support for older chipsets. While we wish could enable full support for every processor on every chipset, the flash memory chips that store BIOS settings and support have capacity limitations. Given these limitations, and the unprecedented longevity of the AM4 socket, there will inevitably be a time and place where a transition to free up space is necessary—the AMD 500 Series chipsets are that time." ...it's totally clear that there is absolutely no technical reason to drop the support of older chipsets and breaking the promise. The capacity of flash memory chips cannot be a technical issue, because firmware can contain whatever CPU support list AMD want (f.e. AMD can easily drop support of Summit Ridge Generation to provide support of Vermeer with no problem).
  2. Unfortunately, AMD confirmed that some B450 boards will be supported and it depends on the vendor. There is no info about X370 B350 and A320 supporting yet.

  6. If we look to the socket TR4 itself, we can see 4 LGA zones. And maybe they cannot be used with today's Threadripper CPUs. We don't know yet - are all 128 PCI lanes available for EPYC in single CPU configuration (also the same situation with 8 system memory channels). It can be situation that EPYC can work full power only in dual CPU configuration. In other hand, AMD can easily create a 32 cores for some new Threadripper. I think technically it's possible, but it seams to be not a near future. Because this step can decrease EPYC sales. But it can be possible in 3+ years perspective. Its all IMHO, though

  10. I want to buy DDR4 for my new Ryzen rig. But as far as I know, there are some issues with memory frequencies. As you can see on the attached screenshot, maximum speed can be achieved using Single Rank Memory in dual channel mode (only in 2 dimms). Maybe someone has 3200Mhz speed on Ryzen platform already? I have AsRock AB350 Pro4 mobo + Ryzen 1700. So, it would be great if someone suggest fastest DDR4 kit for my combo.
  11. The key thing here is to get data about mobo and frequency. Temperature depends on voltage (main factor). If you have good aircooler like Noctua D15 or similar / watercooler maybe, you can make your real load temperatures lower. But now every Ryzen buyer is looking for best mobo for a budget with maximum overclocking frequency possibility, so there are 2 questions: 1. what mobo can power up Ryzen CPU? 2. what overclocking frequency you can expect with your Ryzen CPU, and what voltage you have to setup to achive that frequency? That's my point of view

  13. I'm looking for the best B350-based mobo for overclocking Ryzen 1700 to 4 Ghz Is there any suggestions about it? I'm going to buy good mobo in therms of quality of power-phases and ATX form-factor The thing I know for sure - I don't need SLI of Crossfire support, I don't need any LED, RGB and other junk stuff I find only a couple of boards: 1. ASRock AB350 Pro4 (9 phases. on German forum someone said that there are only 3+3 true phases) 2. ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 (this mobo is a twin of AB350 Pro4. the difference is cosmetic look and marketing strategy (RGB-lighting on chipset, radiator colored red and metal PCI-e 16X Slot)) 3. ASUS Prime B350-Plus (overall good board, but there is no USB type C connector and only 1xM.2 slot, but on German forum someone said that there are 4 true phases (4+2 formula)) Maybe there is no mobo for my needs right now, or I have to look for X370-based mobos?
