  1. Another thing to consider: x99 is basically a dead platform now with no new CPUs coming out for it (all the enthusiast Intel CPUs are going to be x299) while AMD says the AM4 platform will be supported until DDR5 and PCI-E 4 are out. Therefore, if you get x99 now and want to upgrade later you'll need a new mobo and CPU as opposed to just a new CPU for AM4
  2. I have an HP omen laptop (the 2014 metal edgy one with a 960m) Recently, I tried upgrading the SSD to a brand new 1TB Intel 600p. I then installed Windows 10 on it (Installer recognized it and everything, no problems) However, it refuses to boot from the SSD and says that there's no OS installed. I've tried updating the UEFI firmware, enabled legacy boot mode, disabled secure boot, reinstalled Windows multiple times, and the same problem persists. Logically, this thing would happen if there's no bootloader, but I put the exact same drive into my desktop and it booted up just fine. Therefore, that can't be the problem and I must be missing something I don't know about. Any help is appreciated
  3. Your sir are a lifesaver. I must admit that I did mount the waterblock with a lot of pressure. I removed the screws completely, made sure the backplate left loose, just applied pressure on the block with my hands, and it powered on. Thank you
  4. So I just finished assembling my new Ryzen build... Except that it refuses to power up. It just does nothing, and never powered up once Parts: R7 1800x ASUS C6H 4 sticks of TridentZ RAM Seasonic prime 850W 960 EVO M.2 R9 fury EK water loop that's been constantly running since mid-feb. without leaks, so it's not the problem When I plug the power in, the RGB LEDs on the mobo light up and the CPU ready LED is green. The diagnostic LEDs that light up if there is a problem do not light up. There is nothing on the code readout. When I press the power button, nothing happens. When I press the start button that's on the mobo itself (it's glowing red), nothing happens. The reset CMOS button works. I tried updating the BIOS via a USB stick and the BIOS button and it seems to have worked, but it still refuses to power up. Please help, I don't know what to do
