  1. UPDATE: After leaving the PC off overnight but still connected to power, now for some reason 15.1 GBs of RAM is now usable. My only explanation so far is that maybe one RAM stick wasn't in correctly and the other one had a portion of it unusable.
  2. So the only thing I could find in my BIOS were RAM readouts that said my total and usable RAM. The total ram was correct and the usable was only around 300mb less than the total RAM, so I'm blaming windows on this one.
  3. I doubt that but I will try it as I said I have four DIMM slots on my motherboard and tried both.
  4. Did you not see the gyazo link? It's a screenshot saying my specs. I am on 64-bit windows.
  5. As the title says --- I really don't understand what is going on. I have a 2x8gb kit installed, crucial ballistix sport ddr3. Less than half of my memory is usable. I have tried different DIMM slots, nothing. https://gyazo.com/e85cd932fcfe5b52cbbab8d7b9b63c5e Any help is appreciated.
  6. Well, I never get a POST beep, could be the case speaker. I will check if the CMOS battery is dead, thanks for the suggestions.
  7. Hi all, I built this little rig about a year ago (specs will be later down), and recently I've been getting the problem that my mobo refuses to go past the ASUS screen unless I start hitting F8 before my keyboard even starts receiving power (I need to start hitting F8 before my RGBs light up). The way I need to boot my PC now is: Hit the power button, mash F8 for about 20 seconds, sometimes select the boot device (most of the time it just goes to the windows logo, and i don't have to select to boot from my SSD.). This problem really bugs me and I really want some help with it. If I don't mash F8 the boot process simply stays on the ASUS screen, and if I don't start mashing F8 right away, it simply freezes and doesn't compute further input. SPECS: Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit AMD Fx-6300 (haha, i use old tech. ive actually had people comment on my other threads saying "ew" or "why the trash fx series".) 8GB DDR3-1600Mhz Asus M5a789M/USB3 Asus RX480 8GB Transcend (forget the exact name of the ssd) 128GB SSD Can't exactly remember PSU info, however if it will really be that much of help, I will be happy to open my PC and provide it on request. Any help is really appreciated, thank you in advance. -Ace AcePilot3342 on Steam
  8. I already have a 128gb ssd to boot and for core programs, but I need a mass storage to dump games into. I'm just scared that another hard drive will fail, I only used that one for about 2 years before it failed.
  9. By that I mean I can't go a penny above.
  10. Question: my old 750gb hard drive unfortunately failed, (only used about 300gb) and I need a new storage device. I am wondering if I should break my bank and get a new ssd, or buy a hard drive for it to eventually fail again. I am on a pretty tight budget, so I'd prefer it to be under $200. Thank you for all input in advance!
  11. Thank you to all of you for the fast replies and great input.
