  1. Hi I am trying to make a DIY computer from an old laptop like Matt did on DIY Perks here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3fnsGHe8eE&t=458s I am also trying to salvage the screen to make a portable monitor like he did here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfirQC99xPc So my problem is that the laptop wont post at all without the original laptop screen in place, once I plug the screen in and it posts then I can unplug it and use it ass normal with a secondary display. I'm thinking if I can get something to plug in instead of the screen it could fool the pc into thinking theres a screen plugged in and then it should post, but I dont know what that would be called. If anyone has anyideas that would be great. I am using an Alienware 15r (I think its 2014 or 2015) GTX 970m, i7, 16GB ram.
  2. Hi guys Does anyone know of a good 3D print for a deliding tool for lga 1151 or 2066 cpu's? And methods of getting the IHS on with out an alignment tool. Cheers

    Desk PC

The legs wont just but up to the base and be glued in place, I'll make a grove in the bottom of the desk for the legs to go in, for extra support.

    Desk PC

I got the inspiration to do this from Linus’s desk PC build. This is still in very early stages but it’s going to be made out of 19mm MDF with a tempered glass top of course. It’s going to be able to hold 2 pc’s at once, one for gaming the other for nas/ capturer pc/ what ever. what do you think of my sketch up so far??
  5. Found it, it was hidden away as a lighting function, I was looking in the tweaking section
  6. what would it be called in the uefi?
  7. I have an Asus Maximus IX Formula motherboard and it has a Q-code display. I heard from a friend that it's possible to get the display to show CPU temps, do you know how to get it to display the CPU temp after booting into the operating system, for at a glance monitoring? I couldn't find anything in the bios.
  8. well I'm just looking for something to do haha
  9. I'm just looking to get into ethereum mining and looking for motherboards with a few PCI-E slots (more than 2 or 3). assuming their entry level CPU's have the lanes to support it. I've never done an AMD build so I think that would be cool. and it would help a lot if you could link me to the specifications to their AM4 spec page. Obviously, the price is a concern so I'm not going with their top of the line CPU. Alternatively, if someone has another platform to go one that offers many PCI-E slots that would be wonderful.
  10. What do you think will perform 'better' in games, a Dual core running at 4GHz or a Quad core running at 2GHz? just a little thought I had, I think the dual core will have a higher frame rate, just by a smidge.
  11. Personally, I like Asus's bios, for ease of use.
  12. Yeah I do play with SLI disabled, Would just be nice to know it works very well on games that support it
  13. I used the Nvidia optimized settings for it. It's not like I'm using all the vram up either barely scraping 5gb
  14. HAHA nice try but I might hold onto it, just in case one of them dies. You never know
  15. Sure ill keep you posted if I find a fix, but right now for me it works better with 1
