  1. They have a note 4 and have rarely touched the pen past the first month or so of using it. I even think they lost it....
  2. Thanks guys, they'll see it when they do. Think pad looks best atm but idk really the difference too much between the 2 in 1 and the Carbon, is carbon the safer bet to go with?
  3. That sounds like you busted something in the PSU for sure, hell the fan might have just fallen loose for all we know or (idk if this even applies to PSU's) a cap might've broken inside and so it's refusing to actually work. Best bet is swap PSU first and then if that doesn't work it's most likely MOBO.
  4. So hey guys, first post on this entire board and probably seems a little sketchy but please bear with me. A person close to me has asked me to help them find a laptop and even though I'm a slightly "techy" guy I don't really know much minus putting lego pieces together to make what turns into my pc and usually the basic's of the different colors behind the plastic bits. I don't know the true to the core difference on most stuff so I'm laying this out here so people can help me with this if they want. The main issue is that I'm looking for a laptop for someone else that should theoretically last around a little over 5 years with minimal to almost no slow down. My budget is UNLIMITED so anything goes as long as it's relating. In terms of what's being specifically looked for: NOT APPLE Can be gaming related but the person who's going to be using the laptop wont really be playing games on it, really doesn't need something powerful (1070, 980m etc) It needs to be PORTABLE and light enough for someone with below avg strength can hold it If it's a laptop/tablet mix but doesn't compromise performance and longevity that would be fantastic (idk how many of those really exist minus the hp specter though) Decent to great quality build, as long as it lasts for a while Track pad not too sticky (idk why they specified this but they keep nagging me on it) Preferably an SSD/HDD hybrid (SSD only really needs to be big enough for booting and storing a small amount of IMPORTANT data on it but it can be bigger if it's available) 1080p - 2k (4k is over kill but really who cares) Good battery life, as long as possible Noise doesn't matter because probably wont ever be under enough load to warrant it too often Preferably accessible so we can switch ram or drives if need be (if laptop is already great then probably no point to though) Oh and this might throw people for a loop, but they're a paranoid person so they're looking for a program or ability to encrypt info similarly to what Tails (Privacy OS) allows you to do. I'm pretty sure they can just use Tails if need be but if there's anything you'd recommend with certain laptops OR PROGRAMS (would rather choose a great laptop with a great privacy program over a shitty laptop and military grade file protection) that fall under this it would help allot in the search for "supreme security" and yes I know it's impossible for anything to be 100% secure, just looking for that potential 99%. The phone they use has usb type c to it so that's no issue for them and I doubt they'll mind using dongles if a laptop requires it. If there's any extra things like portable HDD's or the sort that you'd recommend then go ahead, best of the best is needed. Thanks for the help if you do choose to do so, and just thanks for the read if you're stopping by.
