  1. I just recently reinstalled my OS, wiped everything and replaced the boot drive as I have gotten much better parts. I had 2 500gb SATA M2 SSDs in a 3.5" bay adapter, a 1tb 2.5" SSD and a 2tb P300. I added a 1tb NVME drive, as well as moved one of the 500s to the mobo m2 slot and then added another 1tb 2.5" drive. Anyways, I went through and installed everything, made sure it was all up to date, and now every game I play drops frames like crazy, even in the menus. I know my parts are a bit older (7700K and a GTX1080) but I am not even playing newer games and am getting terrible drops. I'm running at 2560x1080 resolution, and also have 16GB of Trident Z Gskill 3200 ram. The only changes I made was I put my OS on the other 500gb SSD with a fresh install (figured with games getting bigger I want all the space I can get on the NVME), and added the NVME drive. I am using both M.2 drives which I hadn't used before. I have a Z270-E Motherboard. I have no idea where to start to troubleshoot this. I did DDU the gpu drivers and installed older ones, but I still have issues. other than that I'm at a loss. I did run the intel burn test and Furmark the other day when I first noticed a problem, but they didnt seem to have any issues. Not sure if that helps or hurts trying to figure this out. Here is the pcpartpicker parts list for my pc https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ka0sGh0sT/saved/xVQTnQ
  2. So I must be pretty bad at googling these days, as I cant even seem to search and get results that help me out. I just moved and now have a TV for a second "monitor", just something to put my browser to to have background noise, or to watch a movie in my lounge. However, I cant figure out the Audio. I do have the display extended, but the audio is only through one device. I'd like to make it so I can have a window open on the TV, play through the TV, and then whatever is in my actual monitor play through my headset I'm using a HDMI for the TV, and a Corsair Void headset. Also have an EVGA GTX1080 gpu. Is there anyway to do this?
  3. I get that a lot of the higher end old stuff would be hard to find. Luckily I'm not wanting that. Right now im looking to find a cpu and board and GPU, but haven't the slightest clue of what would work the best for a build like this. I will probably also need a sound card, and maybe also something for connecting a hard drive, as I remember the old one I had had IDE drives. I guess one thing I want to specify too, is I want to get a nice case from the era, so just finding like an HP or Dell isn't what I want, even though it would probably be much easier to do. I want to find parts and build it all myself. Now If I could take the board and remount it into a case, I suppose I wouldnt mind that, but I know there was a lot of brand proprietary stuff going on then
  4. That's the plan, no external connection. I could do a VM on my machine, just it just wouldnt be the same. I really want the old hardware and keyboards and a mouse with a ball in it. Big old CRT monitor and such.
  5. Hello! So I'm wanting to recapture some of my youth and build a gaming PC that's old. I'm talking windows 98, and if possible XP on it as well. I picked up an old XPS XP laptop a while ago and pretty cheap. But it seemed the dedicated graphics card in it was dead, so it doesnt even play some of the games I want decently without some skipping in the video. Not sure what's wrong with it, if it is the gpu, or perhaps upgrading the HDD on it caused the issue, but I've since moved on from it anyways (I still have it, just it's stuck away and really I dont want to mess with it) Anyways, I'm wanting to build something old. I know I'm at the mercy of probably having to Ebay parts. But that's what Im prepared to do. Problem is, I was a really little kid so I really dont know the era of parts then. But I remember playing Lemmings, Jazz Jackrabbit, Wolfenstein and Blake Stone, One Must Fall, and a few other games as well. Theres also me wanting to find some other games I always wanted as a kid, and never got. Anyways, I was hoping to get some help on what parts I should start searching for. I'm hoping to keep it cheap, but I know I'm at the mercy of ebay prices since I cant just go to the store and buy the parts, lol. Any help is much appreciated
  6. So I'm wanting to pick up a PSP or Vita, specifically to play Armored core games. My ps2 got stolen a whole ago, bit I've long since moved on by then, but I'm missing playing the AC series, had all the ps2 ones. I'm wondering which would be best to get between the PSP and Vita, and what Armored core games are there for them, like if there are any that can be played on one, but not the other, or stuff like that. Anyone help me out?
  7. I've looked at that. it doesn't say if it can be set to automatically record a call with a specific number. also looks like it has to be in line with the phone as well.
  8. Not sure where to post this exactly, but I'm looking for something to record a landline for my Grandpa. He wants it installed and we live in a single party consent state, so legally he can. he wants something that can be set up on a seperate unused phone jack from his normal phone (wants it in his den instead of the kitchen) and he would like to have it record only when a certain number calls in, or he calls them (family drama stuff). I'm not too worried about finding anything, but I told him I'd ask and try. If it can record directly to his computer, that would be best, but not a requirement.
  9. he's tried both sticks in each slot, he even put a single stick in one slot and ran it. did that with both slots and both sticks, and always gets 2gb, no matter what stick is in what slot (obviously only going to get 2gb with a single stick in, but still gets bsod with either stick in either slot running singularly like that)
  10. So my buddy has a laptop that's acting weird. He has 2 2gb sticks of ram. no matter what order the sticks are in, he only has 2gb, as if it's not detecting the 2nd stick. Now he has swapped the sticks around, and also ran the computer on each stick separately, and a neatest shows the ram is good. He's updated everything to try to solve the problem, but no luck. he gets a bsodS with tons of different codes, but never gets a dump file. 0x0000003b and 0x00000001e are the common codes (not 100% how many zeroes after the x in those) also has gotten 0x00000023 as a code as well. what could be the issue?
  11. i just figured some store somewhere would have one left over or something, but i cant even find a new one anywhere, the Z270E i'm looking at specifically. I did find a used one locally, gonna get it asap if he still has is when i get paid next week. Won't have to worry about a wifi card at that point. where are the bays on the case? I have 1 3.5 and the 2 m2s, which I will have to get some kind of M2 to SATA adapter, as it only has 1 slot for an m2 drive. the WD blue and 860 evo are both SATA, so it won't be like I'm losing a ton of performance. I found like a shell adapter, which pretty much turns them into a standard 2.5" ssd, and also found a 3.5" 4 slot m2 adapter. depending on where the 3.5"s go, and if i have enough room, i'd probably go with the 4 slot one, I will be reusing my HD120's for the bottom intakes, and using ML120's on the 240mm rad and rear exhaust. So I will have the controller and I want to get the link thing so it can be software controlled.
  12. Thanks. I am looking at motherboards to replace my current one for the rgb control. I'm surprised how quickly z270 boards are just gone. I'm trying to find a z270 that has the gen2 type c header, rgb control header. and built in wifi. Found the Asus Z270E gaming, which I would have to buy used. maybe it's time to upgrade and I suppose I dont need a verticle GPU. I just figured it would help with the airflow, but then taking fans away won't. would a wifi card be too in the way to mount fans in case I still need to use it? I cant run ethernet in my apartment, but I should be next spring getting a house, so it would be temporary
  13. So I was wondering how the PSU in the InWin 101 and 303 mount. I have a toughpower RGB fan and want to get a new case, and those ones look interesting. However I don't want to lose the RGB of the psu. not that its needed, but would defeat the point of having got an RGB psu in the first place. I plan to also upgrade with the case to a 240mm rad, and get 6 matching fans for it, ones with lights, red or rgb. I have 3 HD120s now AMD I feel in the open they would be to bright. so I would want other fans, Maybe Thermaltake Riing fans with the red LEDs? not sure how those work on a radiator, but if I could I'd leave the 2 that come with the AIO on the backside to pull air through, I'd do that. But I got to figure out what case I'm going with first. Also with the 303 and 101, how do they work with a vehicle GPU? I think they would benefit from it, as the air blowing up and in would go right past the GPU. but if it can't be done, or doesn't work very well, I may pass on them
  14. the coolermaster? and I'm thinking a Fractal S24 or a Corsair H100I V2 would be cheaper and I can use the fans I already have and know, only needing to buy 2 more to have 5 fans. Idk if the hd120s would be better than the fans the fractal comes with, but I do believe the H100I would be improved with the hd120s. If I went with the Veiw 37 case and a Fractal S24, could I leave the fractal fans on the back of the rad using it on the side mount, and use 2 hd120s on the inside, and the 3rd being the exhaust? then I would get the 2 200mm intake fans from Thernaltake for the front. it woioldnt be on the same controller, but would give me full RGB, and should be plenty too.
  15. So I'm looking at swapping my dark rock 3 air cooler for a Cooler master ML240R 240 AIO. It comes with the 2 RBG fans and has the RGB on the pump too. what I'd like to know, is if I can add an extra fans to the rgb controller that it comes with. I'm thinking about swapping cases to a Thermaltake View 27 and having at least the rear exhaust be able to hook into the same controller for the cooler. I was looking at even getting the same fans that are included, the ML120R ARGB. Of I could add 3 to it, I'd do that so I can have push/pull on the rad and also the rear exhaust. Push/pull would be just so it has RGB on both sides of the rad. if I can hook in just one extra fan, I wouldn't mind having to go with some led strips for lighting inside of the case. But I would prefer them to all be on kne controller. If that wont work, I'll probably take the 3 hd120s put of my current case, and buy 2 more for it, and a non RGB cooler that would be a bit cheaper (S24 maybe?)
