Hi guys, just building a pc for a friend and having major problems getting the GPU to work.
Ill include the full part list below, issue is system crash everytime attempting to install the driver. windows does not attempt to auto install it and if i attempted to install the driver from device manager it bricks windows. i can't get a display back. it is showing up as microsoft basic display adapter. seen here
list of things i have tried;
Using two seperate cables from the psu for the two 8pins
different pcie slots
multiple fresh windows installs
ddc + safemode attempted driver installs, still crashes
tested my 1080 in the build (works no issue)
test the vega64 in my pc (works no issues, windows auto installed drivers)
Returned the GPU and got a replacement (same fault occurring)
install media is the latest media creation tool from microsoft's official
tested a rx480 a friend loaned me and this works fine also. driver installs no issues. ( no longer have this card have returned it so cant attempt a bait and switch with pre installed amd software)
Any more ideas, this is so bizarre. hope i'm not missing something simple. a bios setting maybe?
