  1. I'm kinda struggling to find info on this, so hopefully I'm not duplicating discussions (probably am) but anyways, I currently have Windows 10 and need to move to Pro for my new job. Originally I thought to try the upgrade option using the Microsoft store but that has left me with a number of recurring errors that have facilitated in needing to do a clean install. I was able to get Microsoft to refund me the upgrade charge and am going the route of a new OS purchase/key altogether. Now time for a clean install!!! But I've only done this with the same OS key, is there anything I need to plan for with reinstalling programs/moving data from a backup over? Will anything like the AppData folder have any issues if under a completely different OS product key? Just wanting to cover all my bases and avoid any further headaches. Thanks for the help!
  2. I'd say processing and storing video files constantly from the cameras probably falls somewhere in the middle. That's about it though, nothing like deep learning or mining purposes though.
  3. Hey Linus community! So I'm in the fun position of being the "Hey, you tinker around on computers and know the basics so you're clearly IT" guy at work and I was recently asked to build a system capable of running and recording a series of security cameras while also operating as a regular-use computer though that use requires minimal system resources and has previously been handled by a low-end prebuilt Dell. For anyone who has dealt with security systems, I'm trying to figure out the following: 1. Is it even a smart idea to build a system for managing a security system as I've found prebuilt security system PCs and hardware DVR systems that to my eye, might be a more cost-effective and reliable solution than creating a sufficient PC that can also be used for basic Office functions. 2. If building a system, should I use server CPUs/motherboards to handle 24/7 operation or is that overkill? 3. Would Linux be the best OS choice?
