  1. I was going to recommend Arctic's Mono Plus GPU cooler, but it seems they are no longer selling them. It's a great and fairly compact cooler if you can find one. I replaced my girlfriend's terrible Dell OEM cooler on her 1060 with excellent results. That being said, if it's throttling at 79C and 100% fan speed and an undervolt isn't taming it, I'd suspect a defective card. If it's still under warranty I might suggest seeing if Sapphire will help you with it. Heck, even if it isn't, they might still help based on what I've read about their customer service. Based on the spec for the GPU it shouldn't start to throttle until it hits 85C. An undervolt should really have a huge effect on temps, especially if you are underclocking. For example, my Gigabyte RX 570 4G (non-factory OC) was running at about 78C (+56C over ambient) at around 50% fan speed at stock clocks and voltages. Undervolting by -110mV dropped temps by at least 10C at the same fan speed, and in my case I was still able to overclock to +90MHz on the core and +50MHz on the memory to get back up to around 76C. That's with a much beefier cooler than an ITX card, but still, I'd expect an undervolt even at the same clocks should have pretty drastic results. Is your ambient temp in the room particularly high or something? EDIT: Based on some of your previous posts from last year, I think you almost certainly have an issue beyond a bad cooler.
  2. They aren't anti-Linux. They've made videos about it when there are interesting use cases, like the various implementations of unraid. They've also made a couple of tech quickie videos about Linux.
  3. Are you certain the DVI to VGA adapter you have is an active converter? This will not work: However, this will and I've used it on many monitors with no issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DC7NCNY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 EDIT: Just re-read and saw that you do have active adapters. No idea then. Will the card drive one monitor at a time? At what point does it fail? The wording in that part of your post is unclear.
  4. The air 240 is notorious for this type of clearance issue...When I was looking for a case I found several threads about it. My best advice is to go to the completed builds section of pcpartpicker.com filter by the case and graphics card to see if anyone has had a similar problem. I know I've seen some builds where they had to keep the side panel off or even cut an opening in the window to let the graphics card stick out (hot rod style).
  5. Really happy with my Define Mini C. It cable managed itself and has great build quality. Airflow is fine for my components and it is very quiet. Phanteks and NZXT also make great cases for ATX builds, but if you are going mATX, I'd recommend the mini c.
  6. That's a poor example. The 8GB RAM question is legitimate. With memory prices as high as they are right now people shouldn't be allocating more than they need to memory in their builds. There is a lot of misinformation out there about what speed and how much memory you need, so I appreciate the video and I'm sure a lot of people probably found it helpful. I would be interested in a VRAM video. There was a lot of negativity around the 3GB 1060 when it was first announced...I've seen people suggest the 1050 Ti over the 1060 3GB just because it has an extra Gigabyte of memory, which is incredibly dumb IMO. When prices started to go up last year all of the sudden a lot of people's tunes changed and we saw a lot of recommendations for the 3GB 1060 since the 6GB model was hard to find at MSRP. As for the thumbnails...not sure why people care. It's such a small thing.
  7. I think it's a pretty simple question you have to ask yourself. Do you believe Linus would lie to his following about a product in exchange for payment/compensation? I don't know him personally, but I think he's probably smart enough to know that getting caught doing so means you don't get to keep your following for very long. He probably has more integrity than that, just judging by his candid feedback towards hardware manufacturers in the past.
  8. The biggest regret I have as far as PC hardware purchases go is buying an R7 240. I needed a cheap GPU for my girlfriend's PC so she could play WOW and minecraft, but when she started wanting to play more hardcore titles she could barely run them at 720p low settings. The 970 is without a doubt the better option.
  9. Contact Fractal's customer support, they might be able to hook you up. I know they have the Define R5 windowed side panel listed on their site. They may be able to sell you the R6 window.
  10. I was under the impression that the low end cards like the 1050 and 1050 Ti weren't used for mining, but that their price went up because they were all that was available at msrp for a long time due to mining on higher tier cards, and the supply just eventually dried up.
  11. Raw GPU performance might be slightly better on a GTX 580, however with its limited VRAM you're going to be hitting system memory with most current games and negating any possible benefit. Also it uses a whackton of power. For $40 it might be worth it if you didn't already have the RX 460, but since you already have the RX 460 it doesn't make any sense to get the GTX 580.
  12. It's probably like the "750 Ti" that Ozzy reviewed in this video He says in the comments that he has ordered one of the "960"s as well.
  13. Yeah, doesn't sound good...simple troubleshooting steps. -Disconnect power cord from the laptop and its current outlet -Remove battery -Hold power button for 30 seconds *Wait 3-5 minutes before moving on to the next set of steps* -Connect power cord to a different outlet directly to the wall (no power strip/surge protector) -Reconnect power cord to laptop and try to boot -Reinsert battery and try to boot If doing these things doesn't fix it contact ASUS and/or a local repair shop if you have one.
  14. The Define Mini C checks all of those boxes, though I don't know how much it costs in GBP. I picked one up from Amazon a few weeks ago for $69.99 USD. Focus G Mini is a good option, too, though the CPU cooler is exactly the height that the case's specs say it allows...could be a tight fit. S340 Elite and P400S are good ATX cases if you don't mind having your mATX board in an ATX case.
