  1. Thank you @Shiv78 that looks pretty good. As I get a bit more cash I can get another monitor (I am used to working with two monitors in my job and that would be helpful at home too, but not essential for the time being) You guys on here work wonders!
  2. Indeed I do need a monitor. I did buy a used HDD but I'm not sure I trust it so may have to write off that purchase as a mistake and move on
  3. Hi all. As I am trying to plan my first ever PC build, on a very tight budget (was around £750 but may be closer to £500 now), I was wondering if the X4 860K would be a worthwhile CPU to use? Essentially, the build needs to have everything other than keyboard, mouse and case (I have the Zalman ZM-T4, not sure if it is any good though). I do need a monitor. Finally, the only "game" I play is Football Manager 2017 but I am looking at possibly getting into a bit more in the future. Other than that, I use my laptop for Microsoft Office, Sublime Text and web browsing. On a side note, I don;t mind building a PC now and upgrading as time goes on (if that helps at all). Thank you in advance
  4. Thank you all! That helps. Looks like I need to do a bit more research and keep looking around. I am about to start buying parts to build my first PC so this helps. Thanks!
  5. Good afternoon! I'm sorry to be a complete n00b, but when looking through the Build Planning section of this forum, I see a lot of comments about "don't get that GPU it's a reference part" How can you tell, and what exactly IS a reference part? Again, sorry if I am being a complete moron!
  6. Hi everyone! I am so close to being able to afford the components to build my own PC for the first time. I've been using a laptop now since I went to Uni about 9 years ago. I submitted a thread recently asking for a potential build so that I could look around and see if I could get the suggested build at a slightly lower cost but people kept saying 'wait for Ryzen' I'm quite new to the whole PC building thing. So what benefits is Ryzen going to have over the current Intel market? Or will it mostly be a price thing? Sorry for being a mega n00b here! Also, slightly off topic, can anybody recommend good resources to actually learn what the technical aspects of components are such as GDDR5 for GPU and threads on CPUs. I have no idea!

  8. Thank you very much @deXxterlab97 I like the look of that!
  9. Good afternoon, I am looking at building my own PC (first timer) and was wondering if you guys could put something together for me using the UK PCPartPicker. Requirements: I ideally need two monitors as I'll be doing work from home and I am so used to two that only one would be a pain I am looking at starting gaming on the PC but this isn't a massive concern at present (the ability to upgrade would be helpful though) I currently use my laptop for the following: Sublime Microsoft Office Football Manager 2017 Web browsing, YouTube and the sorts Budget isn't massive but possibly around £750 if possible. I know that the monitors don't help here Any help and advice would be massive and fully appreciated. Thanks in advance. If I've left anything out, please let me know!
