  1. Thanks for the tip I didn't know till today of "vBios" and will check if i find anything that will help later on without too much risk for myself as a beginner (saw briefly that you can update the vBios and it can fix stuff). (But still as i said before the manufacturer fan curve is almost non existent because it only turns on at 95 degrees or something like that and at full speed.)
  2. Yeah... well if it works now with the program starting up with Windows it's fine, and for "stock fan profile" i think it's only there so that the gpu doesn't melt, the first time that it happened, the fans started ramping up at 90 degrees or more and well it sounded like a jet was taking off nearby
  3. It's true that the program doesn't start with Windows but as you mentioned i thought the profile would save and i would only need the program again if i wanted to make changes, will check the program to see if it starts with Windows. Thank you for the help (And now that i think, it happened more than twice if it never loaded the settings for the GPU fans, could have been a terrible mistake)
  4. Hi, i just built a brand new system a couple of weeks ago and for the second time, at least that i noticed, my video card ( Nvidia Gtx 1080 Strix A8G) goes to 80-90 degrees and only turns on the fans if i turn on Asus GPU Tweak II and it goes back to 50-60ish degrees Does anyone else have a problem with that program ? Maybe because i'm using a custom profile. Saw a lot of people saying to get MSI Afterburner but wanted some opinions on the matter if possible :). (Happened 5 minutes ago playing Dark Souls 3 suddenly my framerate dropped and stayed at 40ish fps went to check and when i opened the Asus program the GPU was at 92 degrees )
  5. + first time building my pc so it will be even more fun, i hope Also I hope there isn't much need to upscale on windows, smaller letters and all that but will try to get used to it ofc
  6. In a way that is kinda one of my biggest fears, i don't always watch stuff at 1080p even on this monitor and i didn't want to upgrade to where even 1080p isn't that good (somehow even on this 21" 1080p monitor, watching something at 1080p isn't that sharp imo) For games i checked some benchmarks, saw in most games at max (they seem to max absolutely everything and beyond and OC the card) saw around 70-120 or more fps average on the latest most demanding games so in a way i thought it very good for now and also for "tomorrow" but you can never truly predict the future so after i told the guy on the phone to order that monitor my head was filled with the question "Was it the right monitor to choose?" I know this topic is kinda me being scared of 1440p till i started searching this i never had truly noticed this resolution and while searching saw a lot of praise on the internet so i thought about trying it but at the same time i'm walking into uncharted lands for me
  7. the dell was 490, the acer i can find here at 430 could have gotten the dell at 450 but was too late deciding
  8. Hello, So today i ordered my monitor, Dell S2417DG, but i'm still not sure if it was the right choice. I had already picked my whole system expect my monitor and i was not even sure what resolution i wanted but my choices stayed mostly with the one i got of course and a Acer Predator XB241HB, saw a lot of posts online about the two monitors and about the two resolutions on my GPU "gtx 1080 strix". (Prices very similar here) In the end i made the jump to the Dell but the question that i bring here today is: was it the right choice in your opinion? maybe even from personal experience (guy at the shop now very keen on letting me return it even if i didn't even pick it up yet ) What i mainly do is: Watch series and sometimes movies (have a lot of doubt about watching this on 1440p) Gaming at least for now casual (CS GO, LoL, occasional Rocket League and Dark Souls) but will definitely try more games and play more with the new pc Chill stuff at least for now
  9. Might have some more things to consider yes but thank you for your comment. I'm leaning a lot forward the Dell monitor and one reason for that is the fact that 1080p would look not that bad on a 24 inch monitor* with the benefit of having 1440p but if i worry so much about 1080p then why do i even want the 1440p resolution ? Well, research time for now. (Maybe i thought that having those extra pixels would make it a better looking monitor) A lot of confusion on here *for movies and similar to what Czeekaj said, not all games are built with 1440p in mind
  10. As someone who already had it, do you think with this pc, it can handle well what the monitor asks for "1440p 144Hz" ? (Strange way to ask this but it's my biggest concern with the Dell) EDIT:Maybe not 144Hz always i guess
  11. Hi, This week i ordered my first pc ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y4gcvV ) and for the monitor i'm not so sure what to pick. With a budget of around 500-600€ and a 27 inch monitor didn't interest me much i decided to stick with the 24 inch category, pick 144Hz and gsync but i'm still open to suggestions regarding those features. After many choices i decided to maybe pick between these two: Dell S2417DG Acer Predator XB241H The biggest difference is the resolution imo and i'm still not certain because on the internet i saw some mixes opinions about 1440p 144Hz with a gtx 1080 and the dell monitor stayed around when picking my choices between i hear a lot of praise about it about pixel density etc (still wondering what impact the 1440p resolution will make at 24 inch) So as you might have already guessed from reading this, i'm still very unsure of what to pick and that's actually the point of this thread, to know what you think because alone i'm kinda lost. P.S. When talking about 27 inch at the beginning i only looked at the gaming ones those around 700-900€
  12. Important matter maybe. Updates like bios updates, I've heard that doing them can help a lot reducing problems later on, is it easy to do that ? (easy = follow instructions?) Might be a big dumb question, will see what i can find...
  13. Will mess with the PWM settings to see what i can come up in silence and cooling, might help... might
  14. THAT i have to check, at the beginning saw a lot of builds where the psu was the one making all the noise and i'm kinda trying to make it at least a bit silent
  15. Nice to know 550W is good, had searched a lot since the rmx doesn't spin unless the system needs like 70% of max power or smt like that
