  1. Hello, recently i purchased an xfx 7900 xt black edition and after putting my computer back together i started having an issue where sometimes, on startup, my main display will run at really low frames (like 30fps on desktop with nothing running) which can be fixed by restarting pc, but i would like to figure out why it does this so i dont have to restart every other time i start up my pc. As well, sometimes i will randomly have a driver crash while watching youtube (most frequent) or while sitting on my desktop with nothing but steam and discord open (hardware acceleration is off for all of the above). Specs, 5800x3d corsair 32gb ddr4 3600 asus tuff x570 gaming plus 7900xt 850w seasonic psu 1tb samsung ssd and 500gb samsung ssd current steps taken to try and fix that have not worked: - ddu (to get rid of nvidia drivers and then again to get rid of amd drivers that could have been corrupted) - older driver versions - bios update (mobo bios update since it had been a bit) - ram voltage increase (turned back down as it didnt fix and caused a separate crashing issue) - auto overclock - graphics card bios switch I also looked at hwinfo and it didnt say it was a hardware error and i didnt notice any abnormal numbers but i also havent tried watching while a driver crash happens. i have used hwinfo and amd adrenalin to compare the clock speeds and other parameters of the card while the screen was doing the low frame rate thing and there were almost no differences to any values on cpu and gpu. i dont have videos yet since i just decided to post but i will start trying to record to try and get a video of the low frame startup and i will start leaving hwinfo up while watching videos to see if i can catch what the problem is for driver crashes any help would be appreciated (EDIT: ) Youtube has a 100% crash rate at some point for me so i logged my system info on hwinfo and have included the csv, lmk if that helps in finding the issue and if needed i can provide something event viewer (although i would need assistance finding what i would need to send from there if you request that for help) (EDIT 2:) After turning on my computer today i had the slow frames issue and this time i was able to catch an immediate driver crash that resolved the low frames and also was caught by amd bug reporting and i have included the log for it) sep9logging2.CSV DPINST.log
  2. im not looking to remove the panels, just looking to replace the screws with standoffs so i can make it sit in the middle of the case without needing to make bottom and side supports for it. I have hex bits for the screws, the main thing i was looking for was the threading on them.
  3. Im looking to do a custom case and i want to figure out what screw type is on the back side of the evga 850 gm (image attatched) if anyone has the power supply and can tell me what size/thread they are that would be great.
  4. the raspberry pi would just be to tell the motor when to go or stop. im fine with just using a normal switch to use it as well. I was thinking less of a platform and more connecting a vesa mount to the mechanism that would lift and lower it. here is a rough concept of what im looking for: if you want me to add any more information feel free to ask Here is the space im working with (if its hard to see its a 6 inch clearance not worried about depth right now as im undecided on if i wanna lift the monitor starting vertical or starting horizontal)
  5. Recently i thought about making a motorized lift for a monitor but im on a budget, could anyone suggest parts that i might need that would be good? Extra info: the monitor i plan on lifting is an acer cb272 (27 inches ~10 lbs no stand) im planning on building a box to store the monitor where i can flip a switch lid moves and monitor comes up, flip switch again monitor goes down and lid closes. im hoping for the monitor to go from ground to ~3.5 feet (give or take a few inches) i want to try and find a way for the monitor to start vertical and end horizontal (less rotation about the center of monitor and more on an arm that slowly tilts it sideways until it is horizontal but if its too hard to figure out then i will just go with a horizontal start to finish) i have a raspberry pi 4 and wires so if its something i can hook up to that its a plus i dont know exactly what i want in terms of which motor type or whatnot so for now we will say im looking for something that is a fixed speed (speed doesnt matter) that is able to lift around 10 pounds in whatever way you suggest is best thanks in advance
  6. solution was turning the voltage to the ram up to 1.375 i would recommend going there and if its still crashing turn it up to 1.38 or keep going but try not to go over 1.4v
  7. after being in a match for a second, this error pops up and pushes a frozen menu screen of OW and i can hear last second of sound glitching in loop. this was after i turned back on the amd dual core optimizer as i wanted to see if it would cause an issue and it seems it did potentially, i turned it off and im gonna try again
  8. Im back at my computer, im gonna throw the 5800x3d back in and test some stuff, is it possible that tightening my aio too tight could cause any problems? (Arctic freezr 2 280) (edit: so far after putting it in with a little less pressure and clearing the CMOS its working fine but i need to do some more testing to be sure)
  9. I dont think its this as i never had problems before the swap but if nothing else works ill try this out.
  10. I turned off the dual core optimizer and did a clean boot, it worked for a while, then i turned back on some of the programs i disabled for clean boot and i got a game crash within 10 minutes of doing this. Also my startup has considerably more items which was never a problem on the 3600x but could be a problem with some software the bios or mobo driver downloaded. Ill send a screencap in a bit when i get back to my computer. I will try this if i cannot find any other reasonable solution
  11. it auto installed from something and was already on so i turned it off, im gonna try to see if keeping that off on the next restart completely solves the issue but so far its working fine on the old processor, if it works still after the restart then im gonna swap to 5800x3d again and see if its fine or not, regardless if it is the 5800x3d i can take it back to microcenter and get a new one potentially (edit: after turning it off and turning on some things turned when i did a clean boot, my game crashed again. so the problem is for sure something thats on startup that isnt playing nice with the bios or processor)
  12. running in clean boot has so far resulted in no crashing as well i also turned off amd dual core optimizer so that may be the solution i was needing
  13. latest chipset from the mobo and bios from amd, pins are fine, everything else i have not tried
  14. replying to you also, the event in event viewer is The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} to the user MATTHEWS-PC\Matthew SID (S-1-5-21-4075213063-1402028430-1863769326-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. with an event ID of 10016 im going to look up solutions now (edit: this is the event that i see whenever the game crashes but i do not know if it is directly related to the game crashing even though they happen at the same time)
  15. now whenever it crashes it doesnt give a code but i found the even in event viewer and its The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} to the user MATTHEWS-PC\Matthew SID (S-1-5-21-4075213063-1402028430-1863769326-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). 16. its just an ow2 blackscreen crash and it gives an error about not being able to communicate with the graphics device, i cant remember exactly what the code was
  17. i cant remember the bsod code as it only happened once and the game im playing is overwatch 2, just randomly crashing when it didnt before, what might i look for in the event viewer in order to better figure out the problem
  18. I just upgraded to a 5800x3d from a 3600x and ive been getting a lot of game crashes. ive gotten 1 bsod and all the games i play eventually crash and im not sure what the cause is. problems never occurred on the old processor even when doing slight overclocks on the 3600x. I am up to date on windows update (Nov 7, 2022) installed new bios and updated chipset drivers, i downgraded my bios to see if the issue would resolve and it didnt (went to 4403 then back to 4402 for bios and chipset is up to date) potential problems i am going to attempt after posting: cmos clear cpu reseat and aio remount ram reseating (edit: didnt fix issue) Any suggestions for other fixes or ways to test would be greatly appreciated Specs: Ryzen 5 5800x3d Asus tuf gaming plus x570 Msi gaming x 2060 super 32 gb (2x16gb) Corsair vengeance rgb pro ddr4 3600 seasonic focus+ gold 850W Samsung 980 1tb Samsung 970 evo 500gb
  19. I was thinking about making a server computer eventually but i wanted to see if there was any specific type of motherboard or processor i should buy instead of just doing normal processor and motherboard. the main thing i am going to use it for to start off is minecraft but i want to make it good to start so that it wont lag with 4+ people on and exploring at the same time
  20. i have an nzxt h700 and id like to try and stay sub $200, although i see other people saying adjust the fan speeds in bios so as of now i have changed to the ryzen power plan and i will change the fan settings, i will probably upgrade anyways but for the time being i will see what the new changes do to the fan noise
  21. Hello, i recently upgraded my cpu to the ryzen 5 3600x and i noticed that the stock cooler (wraith spire) was winding up and down a lot and that causes noise that i don't enjoy so i wanted to switch to something quieter. i was thinking about water cooling and after some research i noticed that custom loops are expensive, so that option is out i have heard that aio coolers are much quieter but they usually run in the middle range of expenses and air coolers can be quiet and effective but i don;t enjoy the looks that most of them give. my main thing is i;m not one to overclock so i don;t need all the cooling power but i would like something that can stay quiet and keep my cpu at temps that are as good as if not better than the stock amd fan. any suggestions on air or aio fans that look nice and keep things cool?
  22. I'm currently vamping up my pc and i want to upgrade my power supply Current pc: radeon 5 3600x, gtx 1050ti (upgrading to an rtx 2060(reason for power supply upgrade)) 16gb ram, corsair cx500. i want to upgrade to a 600w or 650w power supply but i dont want to spend a bunch on the power supply but if there arent any reliably good ones that are cheap then ill go with whatever (hoping for as close to $100 as possible and lower if possible)
  23. 1. Budget & Location USA, budget is about $500 - below, i don't care where the parts are from 2. Aim Gaming 3. Monitors don't need monitor already have one. 4. Peripherals need an OS (microsoft) already have keyboard and mouse 5. Why are you upgrading? never had a pc and would like one to play games with friends 6. Other info. i would like to include the nzxt s340 case in black
  24. are you possibly able to find me a keyboard like the razor turret but without the mouse stuff and a wire?
  25. if someone can help make this cost a bit less but still have good quality then please help. -https://pcpartpicker.com/list/98CpNN - i prefer to keep the case and fan, other than that, have at it - i already have a monitor and keyboard
