Yeah without the Acer XR34 that should be right
-
Yeah but nothing major now that I check the list again. PSU, keyboard, mouse, sound card. I should have gone with a different title sorry
-
I'll get the 980 ti quite cheap and I'm more concerned about price per watt, heat and noise than performance. The sound card from my current PC, so if the onboard sound is better, I'll leave it out I'll look into the 6600k and maybe a 650W, but that means I'll have to throw my trustworthy 550W away Edit: As don-svetlio said, I'm happy with things out of the box
-
The price is not an issue but do you think a 550W is not enough for a single 980 ti ?

Hello everyone I'm looking at building a new PC in the next few weeks and here is what I came up with until now. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Nk7rFT Since I don't like to OC my stuff, I think that the PSU and CPU are enough. Do you see any potential problems, this build could have? I know that only one 980 ti for a 3440x1440p display may be a little on the shorter side, but I'll see how everything works out once I get it. A second one is easily bought and I would then replace the PSU as well. Thank you for your help!

Thank you very much for your quick response, I now have a better idea on where/what I need to look for
-
Thank you very much for the information about the second GPU standby status when idle I'm very concerned about using stuff that does waste power, so knowing about this is very helpful, since I was worried about the power consumption when going with CF. I may still need to look at a pretty powerful power supply, since AMD has a problem with limiting the power consumption of its cards. Don't worry about it thank you for taking the time to look into it though! EDIT: Anyone here, who would explain how using CF influences the need for an even more powerful CPU or not to avoid bottleneck problems ?

What is the ETA for pascal? Because the waiting game is all nice and good, but once pascal is here, there will already be something even newer around the corner Can you confirm this? Because from all the reviews I've been reading up until now, it gets around 65fps on 2560x1440 without hairworks, but I don't know which drivers they were using. So as I see it right now, the 970 SLI is out of the question. So either Crossfire or 980 Ti... hmhm maybe I'll look at the 980 Ti and sacrifice the FPS a bit and upgrade once the prices drop.

Hello everyone, I'm currently looking at what kind of PC I should buy in a couple of months. I know that in a couple of months things like price or availability can change, but those things I'll be able to figure out Where I need your help, is in finding the perfect balance between noise, power consumption, heat, GPU power and price. As an additional challenge, I'm thinking of buying either the Acer Predator XR341CK or the Acer Predator XR34 depending on the GPU(s) I'll decide on buying. I'm also a strong believer in VR, so either an Oculus or a Vive will be bought in 2016. So playing at 3440x1440 is the whole issue here. I was thinking about either: Crossfire: 2x Sapphire R9 390 Tri-X OC 8 GB -------------- 698€I really like the way 390s perform at higher resolution, but the issue I have is the power consumption, which is way too high under load. Noise and heat are on the lower end, which is nice, since I'm worried that putting two GPUs so near to one another, may cause too much heat. SLI: 2x MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4 GB --------------- 638€I read in D2ultima's "The SLI information guide", that 970 SLI is a bit of a problem and that it won't support VRAM stacking with DX12, which (if it is confirmed) is a bit of a deal breaker... Power consumption, noise and heat are on the lower end, but same as with Crossfire, I'm worried about the heat when the two cards are next to each other. Single GPU: Palit GTX 980 Ti JetStream 6 GB -------------- 694€As I understand it, a single GPU is maybe not enough for 3440x1440 gaming and maintaining around 75fps. Power consumption, noise and heat are on the lower end, which is a plus though. So the first question is, which option is better in your opinion? Next question: How does SLI or Crossfire influence the need for a stronger CPU to avoid bottlenecks? Thank you for your help!

Triple-slot cooling, which motherboard from Asus?
Throko replied to Throko's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The sound card is so small compared to the GPU that I don't think it will change the airflow significantly. Also I find it to improve the sound quality of the PC360, so I won't throw my sound card away just yet -
And that is why I said it was a stupid question... I seriously need to go to bed earlier tonight... Anyways thank you everybody for putting up with me

Is there no other way to do this more quickly ? I know that there existed some software back on Windows XP that made it very easy to switch between audio devices, but I don't know if someone bothered to do some for Windows 8... I looked around on Google, but I only found some discontinued projects... Sorry to bother you with those type of questions...

Hello, I have a small (and maybe stupid) question Is it possible to have Audioengine A2+ speakers, which has its own sound card, as well as a dedicated sound card on the same PC, or will there be some kind of interference between the two sound cards ? Also if there is no use with that particular problem, is there a way to easily (one or two mouse clicks) to have the audio output directed to only one of the two sources ? I'm asking because on one hand I want to leave my PC360 connected to the sound card all the time (I need it a lot), and on the other hand, I want to be able to listen to music and what not without having to go unplug the PC360 all the time. Please don't hit me if it is too stupid of a question

Triple-slot cooling, which motherboard from Asus?

I got the Asus Xonar DGX 5.1, which is pretty slim, so I don't think there will be any problem fitting it in, or at least i hope so. -

I already have the sound card in my old PC I would only leave it out if there were space issues on the motherboard
