  1. Hello! I'm going to reformat windows and empty my :C-disc and since I've never done that before I'm a bit paranoid. I believe it should only affect my C;drive but it can't hurt to ask. So.. Will reformatting Windows on my :C-drive affect the other connected storage devices as well?
  2. Hello! The last couple of days my keyboard and mouse has started to malfunction. All of a sudden they both stop working. The RGB is still on on my keyboard for a couple of minutes when this happens, I can hear everything in teamspeak and my computer seem to work as usual. It can happen when i surf, write in word, game or any other computer related activity. It seems, however, like it happens a lot faster when i play CSGO than it usually does. It has gotten to that point when I no longer can play the game because I'll have to choke the power button three or four times during a match. Since it's both my keyboard and mouse that stops working I can rule out the possibility that it's just a bad mouse or keyboard. I suspect that it's the motherboard that is starting to fuck with me, what do you guys think? What else should I try? My keyboard is a G910 Orion Spectrum and my mouse is a G400 and my mobo is an P9X79 LE from Asus Thanks beforehand! P.S It happens again during the time I wrote this ^^ Thanks LTT for giving me the opportunity to restore the text!
  3. I can understand your argument if your CPU is dead or lack desired performance but when you are in no haste to replace it waiting can generally be worth it. Think of everyone that went out and bought a 980 for full price in early 2016 just to see a much better architecture coming out a couple of moths after.
  4. Hi! This is somewhat like a regular "Is it worth buying X or should I wait for Y" question, but please bear with me. I'm not planning to buy a CPU anytime soon but I'm still curious. When you shrink the size of the transistors you usually get a performance gain, but how big is it? Since Coffee Lake (14nm) is soon to be released and Cannon Lake (10nm) being expected to reach stores in H1 next year it feels Coffee Lake is quite an unnecessary release. Let's say I was thinking of getting a new CPU, isn't waiting for half a year for cannon lake much more worth it if you'll get a much more efficient processor, or is the performance gain too small to wait for? I'm aware that it's impossible to predict both architectures' performance before they've been released but I'm wondering if there is an average performance gain or like a thumb rule or something.
  5. Will do. Thanks for the tip! Okay, I'll look around and see if I still have my second cable somewhere. Thanks for the tip!
  6. The one on the back. I don't even know if I've connected the front audio jack.
  7. Hi! I recently started playing multiplayer games and ever since I've heard that I produce a buzzing noise from friends and team mates. I'm wondering if it's the mic or the soundcard on my motherboard that ruins the audio. It would be pretty sad to buy a new fancy headset just to realize it is the mobo. Do you guys know any smart ways to check which one is to blame? Cheers.
  8. Thanks for the reply! As I said, I won't be building anything new for the next couple of months. I was just looking at what's out right now and what the options would look like today.
  9. Hi! I'm looking for a new case and I was thinking of getting a Pure Base 600 but realized that it wouldn't fit graphics card longer than 280 mm without removing the HDD cage. My requirements (yes, I'm quite picky and ask for a lot): Tempered glass Relatively silent Good cooling opportunities (both regarding airflow and radiator support, preferably a 280 mm in the top or bottom) Rather good thermals Preferably not more expensive than Dark Base 900 (I can't be more specific since the cost varies because of different tax rates and what not) Size does not matter that much, smaller is always better but I've been looking at some E-ATX cases (such as the Dark Base 900 series from Be Quiet!) A PSU shroud (not that important though) I've been searching for other cases but it seems like every case lacks something. For example, S340 Elite lacks the opportunity to have 140mm fans and has bad radiator support. Dark Base 900 Pro is silent, but has bad thermals. Corsair Carbide 400c and 600c only have acrylic panels, the Crystal series are noisey, and so on. Are there any cases fitting my requirements or am I asking for too much? I'm not in a hurry to find a new case since I won't be building a new system for quite some time, but it's always good to start looking ahead. So, if something better than the present ones is announced but hasn't been released yet, that would be good to know too. Thanks beforehand
  10. It feels like reviews of and comparisons between different case fans are pretty hard to find since it's a pretty boring topic overall.
  11. This is not an AF vs SP topic So, today I was comparing fans and a thought struck me. I saw a lot of different AF and SP values on the different fans, but what SP is considered good for SP fans and what AF is supposed to be good AF? I also noticed Corsair ML series with both high AF and high SP. Are the ML specs mediocre, decent or good at both? Let's say I would be looking to buy some good, reasonably silent and good looking AF fans. What is the lowest/sweet spot for CFM? And let's say I would be looking to buy some SP fans (good looking and silent), what would the recommended mmH2O be?
  12. I don't think it's frame pacing since I've never had it before and use the same old parts. In that case, it seems to be what I expeceted, the VPN and CS:GO that doesn't like each other
  13. i7 3820, GTX 680, 16Gb DDR3. Yes, it's CS:GO. It's rather unplayable, actually. I haven't tried any other games so perhaps it's exclusively for this game. I use one of my country's most popular VPNs. It's a bit more expensive than others but maintain it's popularity so I don't think it's a bad VPN.
  14. Hi everyone! First of all, I have tried googling the problem and found many threads on different sites. However, my situation is quite quite different from the ones I've been able to find. I haven't replaced any component or installed any new drivers and the other posts usually concern a new GPU, old graphics drivers or something similar. Today I installed a VPN and after that I've experienced lag spikes when gaming, even though I have a ping between 12 and 20ms and above 150 FPS. It most certainly has something to do with the VPN. Do you guys know of any way to fix it or do you recommend me to turn off the VPN when gaming?
