  1. I already own a ryzen 5 1600, and I plan to stream, my thing is, I already own a seconadry PC for stremaing, so I strictly only care about gaming performance. My R5 1600 is starting to show it's age, As I mainly speedrun older games, I'm not sure if I should wait for 4th gen. What do you all think? I think wait, or get a ryzen 5 3600.  I have an x470 board, so I feel like waiting might be the best move though..,

  2. So I have a HyperX Alloy FPS (the non RGB one with a num pad), and I love this keyboard to death. It has Cherry MX Blue switches. It is extremely well built, feels high quality, and I've never had an issue with it. Recently I spilled on half the keyboard, and it wasn't working for a while. I let it dry and it works, but half of the keys feel like mush-town. I would be perfectly happy getting another one of these keyboards, but they are much too expensive now. I think I've seen them for over 100$ when I got mine for 80$. Is there any alternative with this nice metal frame and build quality for a decent price? It seems like HyperX just doesn't make them anymore. I need a number pad, and I'd really prefer Blue Switches.

There's an i7-7740X, but no 7700X. Might be misprinted, might be a fake.

Though since it says 4.20 GHz on there, I imagine it could be a 7700K (as the 7740X has a 4.30 GHz clock)

Yeah, when I first saw it I said to myself "Is that the weird i7 that goes in the HEDT boards," but I found out that is the 7740x, like you said. After looking at it closer I'm leaning more on it being an obscured K.

  4. So I'm looking into buying a new hard drive to install my steam games to, and I've decided to get a Toshiba 4TB drive.

    This one specifically: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16822149697?Item=N82E16822149697

It is a NAS drive, however there seems to be a desktop 'performance" counterpart.

Which would be this one; https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16822149627?Item=N82E16822149627&Tpk=N82E16822149627

From what I can tell the NAS drive is just the same drive, but with a three year warranty, instead of the two year that comes with the "performance" one.

Would there be any advantage to buying the desktop performance one, or should I just go with the NAS one for the longer warranty?

I am sure there are other cases I am not thinking of that I liked from then but searching all over the internet for specific years of cases is not going to be a fun task right now.  Already sent too much time on the website tonight. LOL!

Oh that's screams 2011, might look into one of these.

Fractal Design Define R2, R3 or R4. I saw a lot of those cases on the internet back then and I always liked them which is why I bought a Define R5 back in early 2017.

Picture of R3 but they all look almost the same:

I already use a define R6 for my main PC, I kind of want something more flashy, or unique. Great case, though.

@TheSLSAMG The Corsair C70 was the shit! I had the OD Green that I painted yellow radiation symbols on, sadly sold the system a couple years ago, it was a great case and the military style design was my favorite part the switch cover was so cool I added one over the power button too, every time I powered my system on I felt like I was launching nukes. I have a picture somewhere I'll have to look for it.

I'd also like to see that picture, I love custom painted cases.

My heart belongs to the Corsair C70. It wasn't the most popular case back then, but I had one and I miss it so much. Military style, latches for the side panels, handles and the reset button was under a cover. I've been looking for a while for another one but they never come up for sale.

This one is interesting, I may look into it. I've always been a fan of handles on PC cases.

    Lian Li PC 100

had the motherboard reversed, rear i/o and expansion slots faced the front of the case with the 5.25" bays

I may look into this one, that would have totally been my kind of thing at the time, less getting up to give the PC a reach-around.

  10. I'm looking into building a top of the line mid to late 2011 PC, so I can make the best PC I could have had when I first started to become interested in PC hardware; and I was wondering what cases people love from the 2010-2012 era. I wanted to choose the NZXT phantom, because I was totally the kind of person to get a case like that at the time, but I want to see what other interesting cases existed at the time.

  11. I live in on the East Cost of the US, and I'm trying to play Borderlands with a buddy of mine from Australia. Is there any chance I'd be able to get us both on a VPN hosted somewhere in-between us, so we can balance out the latency we have to the game? I really want to play the game together, but sending a jump input makes me wait around a whole second before it happens.

do you have another left joycon you can borrow to see if it works?

make sure your system is up to date.

the early left joycons had some design issues.  mostly with wireless, but not limited to that.  could check with nintendo to find out if yours is affected and they may repair it,even if out of warranty.

I've tried other joycons, and the console is almost always up to date. It's definitely a problem with the connector on the switch.

  13. Recently my Switch's left joycon connector has stopped allowing connection to the console for handheld mode. It still charges, but I am not locked into using my switch as just a home console. Is there any way I can repair the connector? I've tried using a toothbrush on the connector, but it hasn't worked. My switch is also out of warranty, so I'm kind of out of luck there.
