  1. Allright. So again, I reckon I don't have a Sata 2 port, I have an option in Bios called Boot Mode but it literally only has one option: AHCI.
  2. 1. Erm, this is awkward but I don't think my MOBO has a sata 2 port. I'm seeing 6 "Sata" ports labeled: SATA1, SATA2, SATA3, SATA4, SATA5, SATA6. The motherboard I'm using is the MSI B250m Pro-VD. 2. Working on it. 4. I'm typing this text on a windows 10 computer currently, and I want to install Windows 7 on this exact PC. So at the end I'm gonna wipe my harddrive anyway. I also only have 1 drive and I don't want to Hassle splitting it up in 2 partitions cuz I find one full drive cleaner and handier to work with. And may I ask what it's good for to wipe the whole harddrive anyway? Thanks for the help by the way. I'll try these steps before I post again.
  3. use legacy sata 3gbit on your motherboard So you mean I should connect my Harddrive to a Sata 2 port? Will try. use IDE mode on your motherboard (in sata properties) Is this an option in the Bios? Or do I have to flick a switch on the mobo or some sort? Please be more clear cuz I don't know a terrible lot about PC's (I'm no newbie either fyi). use USB 2 on your motherboard and a USB 2 device I'm doing that already, however I just want to point out that my mouse is plugged in a USB 3.0 port cuz of a lack of USB 2 ports (I've got 2 ports, 1 USB and 1 keyboard) and it's working properly. Anyway, I'm using USB 2.0 for my USB. use a existing install of windows 10 or use a windows 10 bootable USB to 'clean' the drive of GPT (diskpart, list disk, select disk (number), clean) In what way do you mean I could "clean" the drive? What do I do? redownload and reflash windows 7 onto your USB, maybe a corrupted download Tried already. First I downloaded Windows 7 Home, then downloaded it once again after I got this issue. Then I even tried Windows 7 Ultimate, downloading it twice, no luck. The ISO's are from Reddit's windows sellers subreddit, so they SHOULD work. I'm using USB 2.0 but no luck..
  4. This issue may have already been posted before on LTT, however I've been googling and googling and googling for hours now and none of the "fixes" have worked for me so far, so I'm hoping some fresh replies can pop up here. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my Kaby Lake CPU system that's running Windows 10 at the moment. Don't ask me why I would downgrade, please, I just have to install Windows 7. Has anybody ever experienced this issue? I'll describe it here: - I took a Windows 7 ISO file from Reddit (Microsoft requires a key to download the Media Creation Tool for Windows 7 and I don't want to buy a key to find out my system has problems running Windows 7 for any reason (I have Kaby lake, so ye not sure)). - I created a USB bootable from the ISO file with a program called Rufus. - I reboot my PC from the USB. - The "Loading files" page shows up. - I can choose language, timezone and keyboard preset thing. - However when the Partition screen pops up, I see no partitions to choose from. A popup window appears and says: "No device drivers were found. A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.". On internet I found out the issue could be that my USB ports aren't working, because when I press the "Browse" button (to manually find drivers that are missing) I don't see my USB drive listed. I only see C: and X: (never saw X: before so thats weird). Help me, I'm clueless and I don't have an external DVD drive at the moment.
  5. Oh shit I didnt notice it was an 'x' CPU, my bad. Oh hell no I dont want no Xeon. I really want a new fresh Coffee lake. But I guess I got my answer. I'll just see what performance it gets, and if I realise its shit at streaming, I still wouldn't care cuz anything is better than my core i3.
  6. So my CPU will have 2 less threads. But I'll be streaming at a low bitrate as well keep that in mind. I prefer x264 for the better quality compared to hardware encoding at the same bitrate. I really need the single core performance though, so I have to stick with Intel. And yes I know about hardware encoding I can use ny AMD encoder in OBS but I really want the quality Software encoding offers!
  7. They are being released at the 21st of August. Thats why I'm asking anyway heheh
  8. Oh well I actually asked for GTA 5 performance cuz I thought that would be a worst-case-scenario for me. But actually I play Rainbow Six Siege and Battlefield 1 the most. How would such a stream keep up? Will there be no stuttering and such? And will I see much of a performance hit?
  9. Indeed, wait for coffee lake if you want Ryzen multithreaded performance witg single core performance that DOESN'T suck.
  10. Okay so the new coffee lake CPU's are on their way and I'm really interested in the new 6 core 6 thread core i5. I want to upgrade from my core i3 and was wondering if the 6 core core i5 will be able to stream a game like GTA 5 at 720p30 on the software encoder?
  11. I don't know anythinf about the Intel series between Sandy Bridge and Skylake, so I'm sorry I can't help any further. The only thing I would like to say is that you should always buy an unlocked cpu if you're going to use an "old" cpu (not skylake or kabylake).
  12. I've been using my i7-2600 for a long time now and its performance is just good. I'm sure with a nice overclock the i7-2600k will be very good. If the deal is good, I would say go for it.
  13. First of all, tell us what you are doing on your PC! With no information given we can't decide if it's time to upgrade your CPU for example. Because that would be the first thing I would suggest you upgrade, though it depends on what you do on your system! A: You of course need to check if components are compatible with your motherboard for example. Let's say when picking a new CPU, it has to be compatible with your MOBO. For this specific "problem" you can of course buy a new MOBO as well but it's just an example for the type of problems you can run into. B: What do you mean it has 2 slots of the same color? For as far as I know the colors tell you in which slots you put dual channel. If you have a total of 4 slots however you can ignore the colors if you put 4 stick in there. Yes you can put 2x8 in there mostlikely. Just check if it's DDR3 RAM for your specific CPU. (If buying a modern mobo you may buy DDR4 as well) C: Depends on what games you play. First of all don't buy the RX480, it isn't worth it over the RX580. Because of mining GPU prices are very bad. So tell us what games you play and at what settings. If you play lighter titles I would suggest you fo for the GTX 1050TI right now. D: WHAT is your powersupply? Tell us! Make sure to tag me or anyone replying on this topic if you reply!
  14. Looks good for office/basic use! Though you need to put a GPU in it aswell sonce Ryzen 3 has no integrated GPU! I would recommend a GT1030 if your parents are doing basic things on their PC!
  15. You know, I think the main reason for someone to go with a Ryzen CPU is because they want to overclock it. Ryzen CPU's are much weaker in single threaded applications that intel CPU's. With a simple overclock (even with the stock cooler) Ryzen CPU's can close that performance gap with the advantage of higher clockspeeds! Oh and yes, you should wait for Ryzen 3 to be available to buy (won't take long as you may already know) and definitly go with a single 1x8GB stick so your friend can upgrade to 16GB anytime without wasting the 2x4GB sticks!
