  1. Thanks for your "research". I forgot to tell you that I also intend to use the PC for 4K video editing. So fast RAM and a fast SSD seem appropriate to me... or is it just overkill? I just read that the i7 7700K can only handle RAM upto 2400. Is it useful to have 3000MHz RAM in combination with this CPU?
  2. I have loads of HDDs at home. WD Red and Black... that wont be not a problem... I think that I will have to upgrade my GPU later, either by adding a second card or chaning to a Titan.... The CPU-Fan is just for the moment, I intend to add water cooling system later to be able to overclock it... Does anyone have a Noctua DH D15 CPU Cooler? I just don't know if it's too big. It could cover some of the RAM slots... EDIT: Just found a video on YouTube. It is possible to mount the fan a bit higher if your case is large enough... Conclusion: RAM size problem fixed...
  3. Hi, I'd like to build a new PC. I'm from Switzerland and my english is not that good, so please bear with me if my grammar or spelling is not perfect :D. I know that there are also german computer forums, but it's always good to have a secoond opinion 1. Budget & Location about 3000 USD or 3000 Swiss Francs (CHF) for computer AND monitor. Location: Switzerland 2. Aim Gaming at 4K resolution. I'd lke to play games like Witcher 3, GTA V, Far Cry 4 and other games that are about to come at 4K resolution with high details at about 50FPS. I'd also like to play big Minecraft Modpacks at high settings. As minecraft is based on Java and does not really support multicore there needs to be a CPU with a good single core performance and lots of RAM. 3. Monitors 1 Monitor with 4K resolution and a second one with FullHD. I want to add a second 4K Monitor later this year as soon as I have enough money for it :D. 4. Peripherals As already mentioned, I need a 4K monitor. I read that it's important to buy one that supports G-Sync, because this technology prevents inconstant FPS... 5. Why are you upgrading? My accutal setup contains an ASUS GTX 970 Strix GPU and an Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3, which is definitely not powerful enough for 4K gaming... I was told that I could just replace the graphics card, as 4K gaming does not really need that much more CPU power than 1080p does... But I want to keep my old system and give it to a friend, so this is not possible. I already have made a list: https://www.digitec.ch/en/ShopList/Show?shopListId=28018EE92696701216179C76F66ADD9E (The site is also available in english, so that shouldn't be that much of a problem. Please let me know in case the link does not work from your country..) I'd like to know what you think about it. Please let me know if I should change/improve something. At the moment, I only have doubts about the RAM, if it will fit UNDER the CPU fan, as it is quite big... Thank you for your advice. Michael
