  1. One would hope. Sadly the display OSD doesn't let you move the picture The display let's you control a lot, but not that.
  2. So I managed to break one of my monitors (Dell U3419W). But only damaged a small portion of the screen along the left, so there is loads of 'good screen' left to use and with it being a decent 1440p 34" ultrawide I would hate to waste the 95%ish usable display. I also really don't want to spend a minimum of £500-ish for a new equivalent. So I wonder if anyone has ever encountered an add-on that would artificially 'remove' that portion of the screen?
  3. I'll be honest, I know I'm being super lazy. I have at least done a very brief google search. For what that is worth. TL;DR can I setup F@H without a constant connection? Or maybe a way to pool the results to a single PC for upload etc. I've been meaning to get involved with F@H for some time but just never have and I actually work within IT at a pretty large Engineering company, albeit incompetently... Because of this, I know of quite a few workstation's ( probably about 50 locally. But hundreds, maybe even thousands globally) just sat around in storage not doing a whole lot right now. for a variety of reasons. So hey, what better time to get involved than a global pandemic? I want to approach at least the local managers about using these idle PC's to contribute. But the issue is networking, it's a large company. Anything takes a long time to achieve. and I literally couldn't just up and decide to let them talk across the LAN network. (Even if I did want to lose my job and maybe face legal action.) So I'm wondering, is it possible to setup F@H without a constant connection? I get it would require a little more nannying, collecting data etc. But maybe? Or maybe, I could probably get a few PC's or switch ports out to the great open yonder. Maybe I could almost have a collector type machine running? Even if that does sound like the most complicated answer. EDIT: The PC's locally are OEM modeling workstations. So you are talking 6700's with a smattering of Quadro P2000's and K2200's. I'm very new to F@H, not really sure what that would contribute to F@H
  4. Yeah, no Domain admin access. Sadly I'm expecting there is no way to apply a GPO, I'm here as a last ditch effort. Frustratingly, even finding out who to speak to discuss GP on the domain is somewhat of a challenge. It's a long story full of fuckery. I may just say fuck it and apply a PC level GPO and people using their personal Domain accounts will just have to find another PC. The Domain doesn't really enforce any GP, so I'm betting on no conflict
  5. So i'll admit is going to sound silly. But I'm also fairly inexperienced TL;DR - Can anybody think of a way to manage the Group Policy of a Domain user? Critically without access to the Domains GP, and only affect the single Domain User Essentially I have some 'Kiosk' PC's on a Domain where users use a shared Domain account as well as personal Domain accounts. and I want to apply a GPO to the shared account specifically and not the other users. "Of course you can" you may be thinking "Just use Group Policy" you may be saying under your breath. Normally I would agree. Except I can't access the Domain's GP and I am never going to be able to. I'm looking for a fairly quick and dirty temporary solution until somebody else devs something else
  6. Where it used to be? like I said it disappeared. I don't suppose you are an annual sub? Oh fuck it, I'll give it some time and see if anything comes up
  7. Come again? where? I followed Luke's instruction in the sticky thread and it disappeared a few days later
  8. Jesus fucking Christ. You are doing almost nothing but judging LMG for things they haven't even done. Sure the title and such are pretty cancerous, but honestly. Does it really fucking matter? is this where you draw the line, at the fucking title of a video. Fuck me. I can't swear enough to express how absurd this seems to me. Shit you seem to be forgetting that LMG are just fucking people and not a fucking paragon of moral values. If you have such a strong hate LMG hard-on. Why are you even here?
  9. Shhh, nobody tell him about the free nacho's.
  10. Yeah, basically. It was also way easier to interact with LMG staff which was nice. As a non-vessel, but early-ish Floatplane subscriber. (the website itself didn't exist yet) It's main advantage would be early access, which does exist. Unfortunately for you CES is just a really bad time to be subbed as events like it get pretty much simultaneous release's. There also used to be a secret sub-forum which the videos got posted too, and honestly I found it more enjoyable to read discussions/comment compared to Floatplane directly. Little disappointed it seems to have been nuked since the migration. You do get the occasional exclusive video, but honestly that's pretty much it IMO. There is still the ability for better quality video + downloads. I guess. IMO - the only reason I'm still subbed at this point is because it is so cheap I just don't care, however once LMG bump up the sub cost I will probably bail. Honestly as a Floatplane sub it has always felt almost neglected from the LTT side of things. Like when retailers send out vouchers to known customers, but not the high-spenders because they know they will spend the money anyway. For example videos will randomly turn up quite late, or incredibly early. The the video could have horrible audio or get taken down after 30 minutes because sensitive info was left in then the video will turn up 10 hours later. Or YT will receive a different video because Floatplane complained about something. To put it a little more succinctly. At times LTT Floatplane has felt somewhat like Beta or QC for LTT (To be clear I mean LTT, not Floatplane itself) or an afterthought during streams. When I feel like it really shouldn't be like that considering we are paying directly. I understand Floatplane is in Beta (ish), but I didn't realise LTT was. EDIT: The only reason I saw this post was because I came to the forum out of habit looking to see if there are any new LTT videos(floatplane sub-forum). Went to Floatplane.com only to find I had been logged out automatically for the 1000th time
  11. @Hallah Even if you can't afford the recovery right now. Enquire with local services now anyway, they may be able to offer free consultations. Also start accepting right now you may never get the data back.
  12. I wonder if anybody knows of an external M.2 drive reader which can read both SATA and NVME drive? I need one for work but I can't seem to find anything. It doesn't need to read data at blistering speed. USB 3.0 is fine.
  13. IMO: You shouldn't worry really. As long as you have half an idea what your are doing (which it sounds like you do) it is almost difficult to screw up. the most nerve wracking moment for me would be putting in the CPU, those pins suck. (though not really, just feel very fragile). Other than that, just make sure you are being delicate with the components and you should be fine. If The Verge can do it. You can do it. But a pre-built is easier, less concerning with damages (remember you can always RMA things if they are faulty). Lifetime warranties are also nice. If you do built it and have issues, just remember to not freak out and be patient. There is people here willing to help.
  14. I have a Pixel XL which had been working perfectly up until yesterday when I tried to replace the battery and accidentally broke the screen in the process. I think the remaining hardware is perfectly functional (I replaced the battery anyway) and after reassembly I could power it on and felt the vibration from trying to unlock with fingerprint. So I think it is still okay. I also had no hardware problems outside of the battery and screen burn in. (two birds?) However it has stopped responding to anything, power or unlock. I want to get any data off of it before I start with any other breakages repairs. Yet I can't find any obvious way to access the storage without being able to unlock the device. TL;DR - Pixel XL with no screen but should work. How do I get data off of it? without paying somebody. P.S. If anybody is around south-west England with a potential test Pixel screen or cheap sell. whaddup? (I really don't want to pay £100-150 for a replacement)
