It's much worse than that IMO. Lots of people noticed problems with their data a very long time ago but never said anything and/or didn't really care enough to write the wall of text necessary to backup their claim. After GN's video, people won't be scared anymore (eg. look at the content of this thread) to call them out for it. If they decided to not fix their shit, the top comments on every single video is gonna be people pointing out the corrections all over the videos and/or problem with the lab's work.

That would make it so much worse. If you don't get why, try to think about how we got here in the first place. It's not a single mistake from a single employe, it is a systematic problem.

have you ever been on twitch or the younger side of youtube (ei. what I thought linus was targeting with the clickbait title and colorful thumbnail)? If this was xQC's or Dream's forum, there would be at least 50 spam comments with meme for every legible ones.

Considering he mentions how much he says it's great he is held accountable by the community on almost every wan show, I expected a lot more outrage. 220 pages is rookie number for a community this size. If he was a Minecraft creator this size/influence, we would be in the thousands of pages and lmg employees would have good reasons to be scared for their safety (Minecraft stans a scary motherfuckers). One thing that surprises me is how many well written comments there is. In other youtube communities, it would be 95% one liners, jokes, insults, etc. The average age here seems to be much higher and that also means that he can't weasel his way out of it as easily.

Even after this "hit piece", their very next video had many mistakes in it. If that extremely damaging video wasn't enough to make them rethink their process, do you really think an email would have fixed things? I get your point of view, but I do not believe we would have any chance of seeing them stop putting out misleading garbage data unless someone puts a fire under their ass. They have the right tools and the expertise to do it right but they don't because they don't feel like they have to and they assume no one will care that much. GN might be doing them a favor by pulling the band aid now before they invest even more on the Lab, hire more staff, and commit to even more videos per week. It's better to slow down and figure things out early before they accumulate an even more expensive payroll.

He keeps saying (almost every week on wan show) that it's a good thing the community holds him accountable. He is building is brand around this. Regardless of the outcome, it's a good thing that he has to face this reality at least once. Not hypothetically on an excel spreadsheet, but for real. Now we will see if they actually can adapt or not.

that's not what happened. They told him how much that thing costs to make, asked them if he's gonna compensate them and then Linus never replied (until the GN video). He did not "ask for a quote"

LLM = langue model. By design, they are created to make shit up as they go to fill words in a way that sound natural. Being accurate, fair, unbiased, etc. is just an accident if/when it appends. They were not designed for this

No one forced him to publish his rants within the first 24hr. He could have said he needs more time for a proper answer and I think the community would have respected that. His dumpster fire of an answer that deflect and gaslit is why a lot of people here lost confidence in him, it's why the second GN video was published and it's why a lot of people are having more doubt about if LMG can change or not (I think they can btw).

You are the one missing the point if you think not looking like a douchebag is more important than the facts presented or the accuracy of the reporting. I'll grant you that we could not have known this ahead of time... but including a response from linus in the videos would have made things far worse for LTT and would have supported GN'S statements even more.
