  1. Just wanted to update the thread. Computer has been running for 21 hours with no crash. Not sure if running with no side panel is maybe causing better airflow, eliminating the cause of the crash.
  2. Due to the nature of the issue that the applications continue to run, but the display is blank. I'm currently performing the following test: 1) Use computer as normal until it crashes 2) As soon as it crashes, turn off the system, and take out the GPU 3) Start the computer 4) See if it crashes again (unfortunately the Ryzen 3800x doesn't have integrated graphics, so there will be no display when I start the system, but I should still be able to login and know if a crash happened based on the fan's spinning up again) This should let me know if the crash happens only with the GPU, or the GPU is a non-factor at which point I think this is a MOBO issue. Will report back once the test is complete.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention in the original post, I have turned off all power saving settings, and the issue is still happening. One of the reasons I also think it isn't related to the power settings is because the fans significantly get louder when the screens go black.
  4. Issue: I've started having an issue in the past 2 weeks where I can be using the computer for anything (Gaming, YouTube, or even just no application) and both my screens will go black, and the fans start spinning fast. This can happen at any time, 20 minutes after turning on and using the computer, or 10 hours. Any sounds from applications that were already running continues to come through, and I know my mouse is working because I can click and pause YouTube videos as normal (even though I can't see them). I had updated the MOBO and CPU in January, and have had no issues until the past two weeks. This "crash" happened during a video call yesterday, and my webcam was still picking up and transmitting my video to friends fine, they could see me. Workaround: Only way to address the issue is to force shutdown the system and wait for 10 minutes and reboot (if I reboot within a minute, it "crashes" again within 5 minutes). Fixes Attempted: I have updated the graphics driver, the BIOS, and the AMD drivers for the MOBO (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-X570-GAMING-PLUS). I have reset the CMOS, and underclocked the CPU, and neither have helped with the crashes. At one point I thought it might be my CPU overheating, since I was using the stock cooler, so I got a Corsair H100i Pro cooler, and the temps are lower (idle ~35c, load ~50c) but the crash is still happening. Hunch of the Issue: I have a feeling this is related to GPU (since applications continue to work), so I tried to underclock it using MSI Afterburner, but that didn't help either. Computer Specs: Motherboard - MPG X570 Gaming Plus (installed in January 2020) PSU - EVGA NEX650G (installed in January 2017) CPU - Ryzen 7 3800x (installed in January 2020) GPU - MSI GTX 1070 (installed in January 2017) RAM - Corsair Vengence 2133MHz 8GB x 2 (installed in January 2017) SSD - Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB (installed in January 2017) Attaching the HWInfo logs from the latest crash here. 5. Found the issue, when I disconnect my 60hz monitor, the 144hz monitor starts working at 144hz. Now gotta figure out why the 60hz was limiting it. I think I read somewhere that vsync on the 60hz would limit the 144hz monitor down. Guess gotta figure out how to disable that next.
  6. I looked online for drivers for the monitor, but the latest ones are from windows 8, from 2014, and I'm already on those. Really strange, might be a slightly bent pin issue.
  7. Thanks for the replies. I made sure it's 144hz on both the Nvidia program and my computers settings. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers tonight.
  8. Hey everyone just built my new rig. I have a MSI GTX 1070 connected to the Acer GN246HL with a dual link DVI and to my other monitor with HDMI. In the Nvidia GeForce Experience program it says the acer monitor is running at 144hz, but it's running at 60hz (all games say 60hz). The device manager identifies this monitor as "Generic PnP Monitor". Any help is appreciated, thanks.
