  1. Yeah I am moving soon so I'm looking to put it together in March so there are things that may change. I've never done an AMD system, pretty much only ever done Intel/Nvidia but perhaps it's time to share the building love (thank you for the suggestion). Zen and 1080Ti are on the horizon, not to mention I like the EVGA watercooling stuff they had at CES but I don't know about that really being an option.
  2. Wendell ftw! That's more than a little excessive but I feel like I would grow to become half human half chair if I had that.
  3. It's interesting you mention that because it was one of the options I was looking at. An x99 build looks fun but I found it was pricier and unsure as to the 2011 socket future. That being said I'm currently rocking a 2700k lol
  4. Well I'm not really into using multiple displays for games but like the additional desktop space for productivity. I was thinking 4k main display with my current displays either side. The different resolutions might be an issue but I'm currently researching it to determine if it's going to be a pain to try and make work, not a lot of info on the topic though.
  5. Streetguru: I have a couple 1080 displays already and will probably look at a 4k display for around $500 (considering recent sales)
  6. Thanks for the quick reply, the RAM atm is around $300 for the two sticks. Yeah the 1080 hybrid itself is almost 1000, 7700k is close to 500, quickly adds up when you start Legoing it up.
  7. Vancouver (Canada) lurker looking for some input from this rather knowledgeable community. Currently I am running a 2700k/GTX770 build that I first built close to 5 years ago with the only upgrade being the original GTX570 to the GTX770 a couple years ago. After I picked up Doom and played it for a little while my system essentially gave me the finger which is why I'm thinking is time for an upgrade. I still plan on keeping the computer and re purposing it for a media centre or something so not much I can take from it. I like to game, surf, cast, etc... I don't do a lot of content development but I do like to play with OCing and wouldn't mind a visually appealing build this time around. My budget for the build is around $2700-$3500 (w/o display), but there is a little play in there because I am no longer struggling to pay back student loans (wahoo!). Peripherals are TBD, likely keep with G502 and a Steelseries mechanical keyboard but we shall see what turns my head for that stuff. I have mainly used NCIX to price it out and Newegg is almost identical. I plan on running 3 displays, but I don't really want to do multi-display gaming and am ok with using a single nice one for that. I have thought about water cooling, but after using the EK configurator and NCIX it looks like with some modifications to the build it would add about $400 so I will likely hold off. One final note before the list is that since the recent news releases regarding the GTX1080Ti, I am wondering if it is worth it to hold out until it is released considering the leaked specs of course. Aaaanyways, please let me know if I am way off with the build options or if you have any feedback/suggestions. Cheers!
