About 2 months ago I was a bit bored and decided I wanted to duel-boot linux alongside Windows 10 on my machine. I had no real reason to do this other than I wanted to prove to myself that I could. The installation process went pretty well and within about 5 minutes I was booted into the latest version of Ubuntu.
"Now What" That was the first thing I thought when I looked at my new linux desktop, after about 10 minutes of trying to get to know Linux I made the call that it wasn't for me and I was just going to stick with Windows. However, the trouble was that now my PC was booting Ubuntu by default and It was so annoying every time I would start my machine having to quickly tap the arrow keys so the machine did not boot into an OS I didn't like. While this was annoying I put of uninstalling it for about a month, then I decided to look into how about I go about getting it off my machine.
All I can say is I wish I had looked at how to uninstall it before installing it, because if I had I probably wouldn't of bothered as I knew I would most likely uninstall it anyway. I was under the impression that I could just remove the partition and that would be the end of it, after doing a bit of research I found that I needed to uninstall the GRUB and rewrite the Windows one. To do this I used EasyBCD. I neglected to notice that EasyBCD had spat out some sort of Windows permission error and therefore couldn't write the windows bootloader.
After booting into my PC and being met with a command line interface that was like something out of 1988 I knew I had fucked up, at this point I was seriously panicking that I had corrupted my machine and done some damage, proceeding to the Ubuntu forums and other tech help websites I finally managed to reorganize my boot priority with the help of EasyUEFI. All told the process was about 3 days long as I thought I was going to have to get my hands on a Windows Install disk.
I know there will be some people who will shit all over me because I was very unsure and stupid about how I went about this, but please bare in mind that I am a total noob to duel-booting a machine.
