  1. I need to compress 500gb to 2tb of 1mb mix files sizes per week. Currently doing so at a very slow speed… nothing I can find is using anything more than 1 thread. Our work stations are AMD 2990wx and 3960x. We need to compress to make uploading faster to servers and backups faster/possible. Any thoughts?
  2. Yeah that sounds about right. But if I didn’t have Pulseway or some other remote app installed I would have to swap cards. Not something I want to do in this system. Card was hard to get in.
  3. Well I fixed it by logging into the computer with Pulseway! This is not an add. Lol I needed to log into to my domain so the install could finish… so ignorant.
  4. My 6900xt has been giving me the random shut down. So I decided to update the drivers. Downloaded the new drivers from AMD, install, asked to reboot (noticed the system was running choppy) so I rebooted. video card no longer posts… I know the system is posting as I can see it from my mother board. All the boot codes go clear and I see I’m running temps. any idea as to why this crapped out on me? How do I fix?
  5. In the manual it recommends to cool the ram if using all 8 slots. I guess that falls in line with what your saying about load.
  6. I couldn’t find anywhere that said this would work but I needed it for work so I tried it out. findings. 2990wx in an Asus X399-E will run at least 4x 32gb dimms. I used. F4-3200c16q-128GTZN, as was available at the time. Make sure to update your bios and run the dimms in the correct slots via the user manual. As is common with this type of system, make note of your raid settings before doing this. As you may have to reset your board settings. I wonder if this system could run 256gb in quad. I don’t know if I run another set of the same ram if it will stack correctly and stay within Quad channel or subjugate the second set to Single channel or all to single.
  7. I have look and my brain hurts. From what I can tell from some threads is that I need all 8 dims full but can’t find an answer for speed or cas/cl. i could really us just a simple answer. Being used for rendering in 3Ds Max V-Ray, point cloud registration and point cloud alga-rhythmic decemation (automated redundant point reduction).
  8. No sure 100%. I have tried to read into how Vray handles it but all they will say is they their system will take into account different cards. Only factor is memory size. It will go with the smallest.
  9. It should slow down the load time. But not by much. Once the seen is loaded on th card the card does the work. Not too much talking back and forth (is my understanding)
  10. https://canicompare.com/en/compare-intel-core-i7-8700k-compatible-asus-motherboards/intel-core-i7-8700k/chipset-intel-b250/maximum-internal-memory-32-gb-cbvsm3-pbvsBx-194,197,83-mcompatible.html#product_list if I’m wrong I’m wrong but would be nice to be right.
  11. Would it be practical to use an Asus B250 Expert mining board for rendering CG images and CG video in 3Ds Max with Vray RT. The only caveat I can find is that loading a render via the usb riser will take longer. Build idea: (if I get something wrong let me know) i7 8700k Asus B250 Mining Expert CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15 Motherboard: Asus - B250 Mining Expert LGA1151 Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 Memory CAS 14 Storage: Samsung - 850 Pro Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive Video Card: 7x PNY - Quadro P4000 8GB 11x AMD - Radeon Pro WX 710 (current loads are fine with 8gigs of memory. Leaving the full PCi slot open for options like 10g lan) Power: TBD (lots) Case: TBD (8U case? Lol) OS: W10 Pro Did I miss anything?
